After having ramen in the morning, I found myself in the basement of Sapporo International Building about an hour and a half later. I had a choice between a popular curry restaurant or a local restaurant. The curry restaurant had a line of about 5 people, so I decided to go to Azuma-san. I managed to grab one of the last two seats at the counter just before noon and ordered the "pork bowl". Looking back, I realized that I had ordered the same thing on my first visit, so maybe I should have tried the udon instead. Oh well. The set arrived in about 6 minutes, and the pork looked delicious with its color and shine. The meat was thin and had a nice texture, and it was quite juicy. The sauce was unique and tasty, with a good balance of sweetness that complemented the meat well. The clear, salty soup paired perfectly with the soy sauce-based pork bowl. Just drinking the soup made me crave for udon. The combination of meat, rice, and soup, along with the salad on the side, made for a satisfying and delicious lunch one and a half hours after breakfast. The meat udon that my neighbor ordered looked really good! Next time, I will definitely go for the udon set!

Friday's sense of liberation... Well, tomorrow I still have a 5-hour job, but well, the work tomorrow is a bit relaxed so... Well, that's why I came here! It seems to be a shop for pork bowl and udon, but I want to eat fried rice, so unfortunately... this time, no udon. I quickly ordered a pork bowl fried rice (double serving = large size) ... According to reviews, it seems to be quite voluminous, but in about 7 minutes, here it is! It's full of pork and you can't see the fried rice! Truly amazing! I quickly tried the pork bowl, the pork is not too salty, it has a good taste! It's crispy and delicious! And then, the fried rice appeared after moving the pork aside! I tried it... It's also delicious x2... It goes well with the pork bowl sauce! The fried rice alone is delicious, and the volume of pork with fried rice leads to a wonderful dinner... 52-year-old autumn... Oh, the joy that doesn't easily diminish, and at the same time, the center called fullness attacks... The soup, as expected from an udon shop, is delicious x5! It was a pity not to eat udon, but I was fully satisfied with the pork bowl fried rice... The staff at the restaurant were very kind! The fried rice was the best! Tomorrow I have to wake up at 5 o'clock again... I'll do my best! Goodbye, Hirokigo.

I came here for the pork bowl. They also have sets with udon and various other options! The interior of the restaurant only has a counter with about 15 seats. The staff are friendly and the service is relatively fast from ordering to receiving the food! I sat at the second seat from the end of the counter, and I noticed that the customer at the end was smoking towards the wall! It's been a while since I saw someone smoking inside a restaurant. The restaurant has a nostalgic Showa era vibe! It's a nice place.

Today at lunch, it was raining heavily outside, so I decided to go underground for the first time in three weeks. It's past 2 o'clock, but the place is still packed with customers as usual. The underground area of the International Building is bustling everywhere. Many people seem to order pork bowls, but I prefer udon because I can't handle extreme heat. I chose the summer limited edition menu item called "chirashi udon" that is not listed on the menu, and I ordered the double (extra large) size for an additional 200 yen. I've never heard of chirashi udon before, but I wonder if other restaurants offer it too. There aren't many udon shops in Sapporo, so it might be rare here. The toppings include tempura, pickled ginger, cucumber, egg, imitation crab, seaweed, and sesame. I added plenty of tenkasu and green onions from the counter. It's like chirashi sushi on top of udon! It surprisingly goes well together. Especially the homemade pickled ginger is great. It's hard to see in the photo, but there's a lot of it under the tempura. Even though it's already September, it's still hot, so this dish is perfect for this time of year. I finished the extra large portion in no time. The other two limited edition items are cold chili oil meat udon for 900 yen and a salad pork bowl in the style of Loco Moco for 980 yen. I'm not sure how long the summer limited items will be available, but I definitely want to come back again.

Moon-viewing pork bowl and udon (hot) set for 1180 yen. The sauce for the pork bowl is not too sweet or too strong, it's delicious. The rice doesn't make you want to keep eating, but the balance between the meat and rice is just right. The rice is slightly soft. The udon is quite delicious. The soup broth is rich and the flavor is slightly strong, which I liked. It's nice that you can add your own green onions and tempura crumbs. On the counter, there are green onions, tempura crumbs, soy sauce, sansho pepper, shichimi pepper, black pepper, disposable chopsticks, toothpicks, tissues, water, and alcohol spray. You can also choose cold udon. Personally, I wish the ladle was a bit bigger. The soup was a bit difficult to drink. The service is good, and I think it's a place where regular customers go.

It's still hot as usual... Today is a holiday before the Obon period, so I decided to go underground to the International Building. It's been over three years since I last visited, so the shops have changed, but places like Colombo and here are still going strong. It's around 2pm and there are quite a few customers. The pork donburi here is delicious, but since it's hot today, I opted for the cold zaru udon (large serving). The noodles have a nice firm texture that I enjoy. It comes with shredded lettuce, which adds a refreshing touch. Other toppings include tempura crumbs, imitation crab sticks, boiled egg, and seaweed with bonito flakes. It also comes with a rice ball without seaweed. The udon menu is extensive, so you won't get tired of it even if you come every week. They also offer set menus with donburi dishes like pork donburi and tempura donburi. They even have a unique dish called pork donburi fried rice, which is surprisingly tasty. It's been a while since I last visited, but I'm already looking forward to coming back. I really want to try the pork donburi next time. Plus, you get a 30 yen service voucher every time you visit.

When it comes to pork bowl in Hokkaido, people often think of Tokachi and Obihiro, but personally, I always think that "Azuma" in front of Sapporo Station is the best. Today, on my way back from Tomakomai, I stopped by. I had the pork bowl and fried rice set, followed by a mini cold udon. The highlights were: - The signboard lady with glasses who looked great! - The perfect amount of salt and pepper in the fried rice! - The richness and glossiness of the sauce! - The perfect cooking of the meat! - The firmness, smoothness, and crunchiness of the udon with tempura bits! On weekends, it's Azuma for sure, not Susukino. I am satisfied, full, and give full points. I will definitely go again.

I visited this place for lunch for the first time. They have a wide variety of udon dishes as well as donburi options like pork bowl. The seating is only at the counter, but it has a comfortable atmosphere. I was recommended to try the pork bowl and plain udon set, so I ordered a half size pork bowl and plain udon with toppings like tempura flakes and green onions which you can add as much as you like. The broth of the udon is very delicious, especially with some sansho pepper instead of shichimi. The pork bowl had just the right amount of sauce and the meat was tender and easy to eat. The pickles served on the side were tasty too. Although the seating is a bit tight, it might be better to avoid peak lunch hours. They also seem to offer morning udon and evening options. I received a 30 yen discount ticket at the end of the meal. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

Hokkaido Sapporo Chuo-ku Kita 4-jo Nishi 4 Kokusai Building B1F Sapporo Chuo-ku, Satsueki Minami Exit Area. You can enter the building directly from the underground passage that connects Odori and Satsueki. In this building, there is the well-known Colombo curry, and I visited "Ajuma" for the first time. There is a white curtain at the entrance, with menu samples displayed on the right. And there was a notice saying "Today, tempura is not available" (sad face). The only seating available is at the L-shaped counter surrounding the kitchen. I visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2 pm. There seem to be around 10 seats, but only 3-4 were empty. When you sit at the counter, they serve you cold water. There are fried tempura bits and chopped green onions available for you to help yourself. This is a nice touch, isn't it? Hopefully, mischievous customers won't cause any trouble with this. This place serves Tokachi pork bowl and Kansai-style udon. I wanted to try both, so I decided to go for the set menu. *Pork kimchi bowl and udon set for 1100 yen. Both were served in individual portions, and it was quite filling. First, the pork kimchi bowl. The pork bowl is the restaurant's specialty and has been featured in many reviews. They use the sauce from the pork bowl to make the pork kimchi. The pork and onions are cooked in a rich sweet and savory sauce. The pork is a mix of loin and belly cuts, and both are well coated in the sauce. The red of the kimchi is completely overshadowed by the black of the sauce. The matured and flavorful taste goes well with the rice. It was really filling. I sprinkled some sansho pepper on top. And then, the udon. This was also a single serving of kake udon. The udon was nicely soaked in the golden-colored broth. It has a slightly soy sauce-based flavor with a rich taste. Topped with fried tempura bits and green onions. The udon had a smooth and easy-to-eat texture, and it was delicious. Not too thick or too thin, it was easy to eat. I managed to finish it all. Looking at the menu, I noticed that if you order a set, you can get a 30 yen discount by halving the udon noodles. Ah, so that's another option. There were seasonal winter menu items with photos still displayed on the wall... such as cheese curry udon with pot roast, including a small portion of rice for 1000 yen. It looked really delicious. There were also other items like pork bowl fried rice with pork bowl meat on top, and salt ramen-style udon = ra-don men. It seemed to be a smoking-friendly restaurant, as a few people were using electronic cigarettes and one person was smoking a regular cigarette. It didn't bother me too much, but if someone smoked heavily next to you, it could ruin the dining experience. So, that's something to be aware of.

Continuous operation is appreciated. Sometimes, I crave that deep brown color. Today's was slightly overcooked, a bit more bitter than usual. An announcement about price adjustment... It's the times we're living in. And once again, I forgot to use the 30 yen discount coupon. Oh? Come to think of it, there wasn't a discount coupon today. I wonder if they're doing away with them? It doesn't matter to me since I always forget them anyway. Another delicious meal today. Thank you for the meal.

This is an udon restaurant located in Sapporo International Building, right next to the subway Sapporo Station. They also have a famous curry restaurant called Colombo in the same building. This restaurant is known for its pork bowl and Kansai-style udon. They serve morning udon on weekdays, with a gentle broth and soft noodles that are perfect for starting the day. The yuzu adds a nice touch. I couldn't try it in the morning, but the pork bowl has a unique bitterness and charred flavor, cooked in a frying pan. It's the type of pork bowl that may not be for everyone, but I think it's worth a try. Thank you for the meal. (*´ω`)

★ Pork bowl for 850 yen Located in the concourse directly connected to the station's north-south line international building B1, tucked away in the back corner, this restaurant offers a nostalgic atmosphere with only a counter. They serve a variety of udon dishes, ensuring a satisfying meal with sets priced at almost under 1,000 yen. Both the pork bowl and Kansai udon are appealing, but since I had noodles for lunch, I think I'll go for rice in the evening. The standalone "pork bowl" features a richly colored pork with a thick, flavorful sauce that coats the meat well. The secret sweet and savory sauce is a rice thief, and the slightly thick slices of meat are cooked just right with a nice charred flavor. They are generous with the amount of meat, served in a well-seasoned bowl with clear Kansai broth, two slices of yellow pickled radish, and a fresh cabbage salad. You don't have to go all the way to Obihiro to enjoy a delicious pork bowl in Sapporo. Thank you for the meal! (^ω^)

I want to visit this udon restaurant regularly in 2023. When I look at the menu, the pork bowl set catches my eye. I was thinking of getting the "egg drop udon," but I ended up ordering the "pork soup udon" from the special menu. It had a lot of ginger, which made me feel warm and satisfied. It cost 800 yen. After me, many customers also ordered the pork bowl and fried rice, which seemed very filling. I sat at the counter and had condiments like chili peppers, sansho pepper, and soy sauce on the table. I also had a separate plate of ginger, which I added to my pork soup udon. It was delicious and warming, with lots of ingredients. The udon noodles were tasty and mixed well with the soup. There was also a side of rice ball with bonito flakes (pre-made). The soup had a rich flavor but was light at the same time, with a generous amount of pork. I sprinkled some sansho pepper on top for extra flavor. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Popular long-standing restaurant known for its udon and pork bowl. Located in a dining district connected to the underground walkway. Visited at 11:45 am on a weekday and luckily got a seat as it was almost full, but there was a line forming after 12 pm. The neighboring popular curry restaurant, Colombo, still had a long line. The restaurant has a small L-shaped counter with about 20 seats. Orders are taken orally, and you can order a set with both the pork bowl and udon. The pork bowl set costs 900 yen. The udon, served hot or cold, arrives in about 15 minutes over the counter. The pork in the pork bowl was thin and lacked a crispy and juicy texture. The restaurant's "legendary sauce" (also sold in-store) is quite strong and bitter. Some people seem to enjoy this bitter sauce with the pork bowl, but personally, I'm not a fan. However, the plain udon served with self-serve tempura flakes and green onions was delicious. The broth was light with a gentle yuzu aroma, and the thin udon noodles were soft yet firm with a smooth texture. The service was decent, but it felt a bit slow considering the number of customers. In terms of cost-performance, the portion size was reasonable. Overall, while the pork bowl wasn't bad, when compared to pork bowls from Tokachi (as advertised), there was a noticeable difference. On the other hand, the udon exceeded expectations and would be worth revisiting for just the udon.

The pork bowl is delicious with a sweet and savory sauce and plenty of pork. I had the double serving and it was quite filling. The miso soup that comes with it is actually udon broth, so I added plenty of tempura flakes and green onions. The udon here is soft and comforting, perfect for those from Kansai. They also offer a pork bowl and udon set, but I went with just the pork bowl this time. The restaurant used to be a coffee shop called Life near Hokkaido University in the past. The name of the restaurant, "Life," comes from the famous song by Miyuki Nakajima that says "No matter how drunk you get, you can always find your way back." I remember going to Life during my student days.

Visit date: Friday, March 4, 2022, around 1:00 PM. Located on the basement floor of Sapporo International Building, this udon restaurant is famous for its pork bowl. I visited this place for the first time after being intrigued by it during my visit to Colombo Curry the other day. When I arrived on a weekday afternoon, the place was packed. It's a popular spot among office workers, so be prepared to wait in line during lunch hours. The turnover is quick, and I was able to get a seat after waiting for about 5 minutes. The interior has only counter seats, and you can see the cooking process right in front of you. They offer a variety of pork bowl options, including the legendary pork bowl series with 7 different types. You can also add udon for an additional ¥120 or ¥200. They have a wide selection of udon types, seasonal limited-time menu items, and onigiri. I ordered the "Tsukimi pork bowl with udon set" for ¥1050. The service was fast, and the visually appealing pork bowl and plain udon were served on a tray. The pork bowl has a dark, glossy appearance and a surprisingly mild sweetness despite its rich look. The sauce, continuously added since the establishment of the restaurant, coats the dish well, and it is quite generous in portion. The right amount of char and bitterness give it a savory and authentic taste. The udon in the set doesn't have any toppings, but there are shichimi, green onions, and tenkasu on the table. I was surprised by the chewy medium-thick udon noodles. They had a soft texture but a good firmness, making them easy to eat. The dashi broth is a light Kansai-style with a refreshing yuzu flavor, which was excellent. Of course, I finished it all. In conclusion, not only the pork bowl but also the udon is delicious. If you want a hearty meal, go for the pork bowl that will make you crave for more rice, and if you prefer a lighter option, try the udon with a light Kansai-style broth. It's quite versatile. Personally, I wish they would make it non-smoking during lunch hours. PayPay payment is not accepted. You can find videos on Instagram @moritapan7.

Yes. It's after work as usual. I'm heading to a shop that caught my attention. From Sapporo Station on the Toho Line, towards the Namboku Line, you go up to the concourse using the blue staircase at the back. Previously, there used to be a fenced-off passageway on the concourse for transfers, but now the fence is gone and you can transfer using the yellow ticket gates. I remember seeing an interview on TV where someone said, "It's like the Berlin Wall, divided and all." But the Berlin Wall... (laughs) Is it really 250 meters? The uphill climb might be tiring (laughs). Anyway, it's been a while since I visited the International Building. The shop is located on the basement 1st floor, next to a famous curry restaurant, but it's easier to go up using the staircase on the left side of the escalator, which used to be a bookstore, towards the Ainz & Torupe side. I never knew there was a pork bowl and udon shop in this building. Even though I visited a shop last June that served delicious soup and spaghetti, I didn't notice the one next to it. I arrived at the usual time, around 4:30 PM. The shop seemed like a place run by an elderly couple based on the name and the samples displayed outside, but surprisingly, there were two young female staff members inside. I decided on the menu right away, the "Ra-don-Men" salt ramen-style udon for 830 yen (laughs). Quite a name. I thought it might take a while since they prepared two servings ahead of time, but it arrived in about 8 minutes. The presentation resembled salt ramen, and it came with a triangular rice ball. The clear chicken broth soup contained spinach, cabbage, seaweed, a boiled egg, and fried tofu, giving it a ramen-like appearance. Additionally, it had two slices of boiled pork belly with plenty of sesame seeds on top. The udon had a good chewy texture and a pleasant mouthfeel. It had been a while since I had such well-cooked udon. It was really delicious. The soup was also delicious! All the ingredients were perfectly delicious. I thought it would be like salt ramen in udon form, but the perfect balance of fat and salt made it a delicious salt udon. I instantly liked it. Oh! It's not because the staff are young ladies (laughs). Oh, it's been a while since I had something delicious. I'll definitely visit again. Maybe next time I'll try the pork bowl that everyone was eating? Thank you for the meal. I'll be back (laughs).

When something goes wrong, it becomes a disaster... Today, the neighboring building had tempura rice bowl, but they were closed. So I went to "Azuma" for pork rice bowl and fried rice! But they said the rice was just cooked and couldn't be served yet. Then I ordered the pork rice bowl set... Everything was out of sync! I returned the empty green onion container on the table to the counter. After about 5 minutes, the set arrived. I asked for more green onions, but they thought it was already on the table. The cold udon with wasabi was a disappointment! It reminded me of the udon I had yesterday when I was hungry. I even forgot to take photos. This place is a no-go for me, just for the sake of T-point reviews.

Today, I went to "Azuma" for a meal. I wanted something hearty, so I ordered the double pork bowl fried rice. First of all, the portion size was excellent! I was worried it might not be enough, but I was impressed. The seasoning of the pork was just right - not too sweet or too salty, just perfect. The fried rice had a good balance of salt and pepper, and the pork on top added a nice touch. Since Azuma is known for their udon noodles, the broth was also delicious. The waitress asked me if I needed more, and I had to admit defeat. But the taste was so addictive that I will definitely be going back again.

Still in March 2022, the curry restaurant next door is still drawing a line during peak hours. The line extends to our place as well, but we decide to wait! It must be because they open early... We finally get in and I consider getting the pork bowl, but end up ordering the Kitsune and Udon noodles instead. I receive a glass of water and notice the tempura and green onions on the counter. As I wait, I get a small rice ball as part of the lunch set (even though it's pre-made). The soup today seems a bit salty, so the yuzu flavor is not as strong, but it's still my favorite menu item. Thank you for the meal!

Wandering new curry mania / rookie ramen mania, a solitary middle-aged man. This is a memorandum-like review. If you are looking for concise information about the restaurant and food, please move on to other people's reviews. I have various restaurants I want to try, recommended by the people I follow or inspired by reviews. Of course, there may be restaurants I want to visit based on my own preferences and mood. I will visit them in order. First, a recommendation from a companion. When I stopped by the building where the restaurant is located. The representative tenant is "Colombo" san. Next to it, there was a suggestion for "such a restaurant". Oh... now that you mention it, I didn't pay attention to this place while checking the crowd at "Colombo" san or visiting the neighboring sister restaurant (the soup restaurant). Hmm... "udon" and "pork bowl" at the other restaurant, huh. There were food samples, and the place had a cool atmosphere. It seems like it has a history of about 50 years, like "Colombo" san. (Actually, it is unclear) But at that time, I had other things to do, so next time. And now, this time. It was a weekend Saturday with only two days left for this season's share bike. Usually, I would depart from home by bike for some exercise. But recently, in the city center (Sapporo Station area to Odori Park area), even a brief stop would result in stricter "checks = warning notices" being issued. Well, if they don't do that, "illegally parked bikes" won't go away. I'm a little late, but I'm going to change too. Well, the bike season is off anyway... So, I went to the city center by regular and share bike. There is a port near the building I was aiming for. The location is Chuo-ku, Kita 4-jo Nishi 4-chome. Basement 1st floor of Sapporo International Building. It's two doors down from "Colombo" san. I entered at 12:15 (Saturday). The inside of the restaurant has only an L-shaped counter seat surrounding the kitchen, with about 12-14 seats. (I couldn't confirm in detail) The counter seats were divided by book stands every two seats. It's a thoughtful arrangement. The height is okay, but a little narrow. Well, better than nothing, I guess? I sat at an empty seat and checked the menu. I decided to go for a menu that caught my eye with the food sample last time and had no reviews from predecessors. Pork bowl fried rice (double), tax included 1,180 yen. I placed my order and started cooking with my partner. The older brother started making fried rice, checking the procedure, seasoning, and frying condition with the veteran older sister as he progressed with the cooking. The work seemed efficient, but they were making sure to get close to the taste of this restaurant. Maybe they just started when I entered? On the other hand, the veteran older sister started frying the pork marinated in sauce in a bag. She started cooking it as the fried rice was being fried. And in 6-7 minutes from the order, the dish was served. It's huge! The dish was served in an oval deep dish that is even larger than usual. In the middle, there was a salad of shredded cabbage and French dressing, separating the pork bowl fried rice. For the sake of my health, I started with the vegetables. Since it's pork bowl, it's natural that it looks "rich". First, when I tried the pork... hmm? I hardly feel the "sweetness" that was mentioned in the previous reviews. It said it was "not too sweet", but it doesn't even reach that level. Did my taste buds become tasteless again? The sauce has a slightly bitter taste from simmering, a faintly fragrant and slightly salty taste, and a little bit of richness. It's not exactly the same, but it reminds me of the demi-glace sauce I had before. Hmm, where was it? Ah! I remember! It was at "Shin Western Food K*zo*"! At that time, it was poured over juicy hamburgers or omelets, and this sauce is...
