Located near the Genkai Sea, this stylish robatayaki dining offers a variety of dishes using mainly local ingredients such as fish from the Kyushu region, Kumamoto red beef, and Fukuoka Itoshima pork cooked on an open flame, primitive grill, and straw grill. You can enjoy a combination of Japanese cuisine as well as wine and Western dishes. Situated in the Tenjin Minami-Watanabe Street area, it is also close to Nakasu, Nishi Nakasu, and Haruyoshi. The first floor features a counter seat where you can enjoy the live cooking of fresh ingredients, robatayaki, and the flaming straw grill, as well as table seating. Last time, we used the counter seats with a group. This time, we opted for a table seat by the window where we could have a calm conversation with colleagues. The second floor offers semi-private and private rooms. Although robatayaki has been a popular trend in Fukuoka in recent years, this place offers a more sophisticated and high-quality dining experience, making it suitable for business meals and entertaining guests. The menu includes a wide range of à la carte dishes and various courses. Today's recommendation is their course menu. Last time we tried various à la carte dishes, but this time we opted for a course. The course includes dishes for 4,000 yen (tax included) and a drink all-you-can for 2,000 yen (tax included). The dishes include assorted appetizers, straw-grilled sashimi platter, grilled chicken salad, primitive grilled sardines, today's meat dish, and Robata's monaka. Cheers with a draft beer! The first dish is a steamed egg custard with sea urchin and seaweed, and mozuku seaweed. The table setting is well-prepared with table mats, chopstick holders, original logo towels, and beer glasses, which adds a touch of sophistication. We opted for the 2,000 yen drink all-you-can plan which includes sparkling wine. The sashimi platter includes amberjack and bonito straw grill. The amberjack was so fresh and delicious, and the bonito straw grill was even better. Sparkling wine. It was fruity and delicious. A great choice for a drink all-you-can plan! A mini salad. Grilled chicken thigh. It was surprising how tender the meat was, not like regular chicken. It was served with bamboo charcoal salt, yuzu pepper, and cucumber. There is a variety of fish and seafood dishes, as well as shrimp and meat. Here is the primitive grilled and straw-grilled menu. The straw-grilled dish is cooked in a way that does not burn completely, which is quite intriguing. With the drink all-you-can, we kept enjoying our drinks. Delicious sake was also flowing generously. Let's repeat, the drink all-you-can plan here offers great value! The meat dish. *Serving for 2 people. As the organizer of a farewell party, I chose this restaurant. We went with 4 people, but surprisingly, instead of just one person leaving, 3 people were transferred! I ended up not having to pay anything, as everyone decided to split the bill. The dishes were delicious and came out at the right timing, with generous portions of skewers. We had a private room, so we could relax and chat, and ordering was convenient with a tablet. Despite being located in a back alley, the restaurant was clean and a great place. Thank you for the meal!

Today I was invited to a business dinner by a client. He used to be in Kyushu, maintaining a close relationship with our company, but now he has become very important and is living alone in Edo. The seating arrangement was a long table, with three guys and three girls, giving a couple-like atmosphere. It was my first time at this place, but the window seats were glass-walled and the atmosphere inside was bright and nice. We started with a toast with draft beer! It was a course with all-you-can-drink, and the food included salad, sashimi platter (2 kinds), and grilled chicken thighs. All of them had safe flavors. We talked about sake from Fukuoka and Saga, and I enjoyed drinking premium sake like Tanaka Rokujugo, Azumaichi, and Nihonshu no Uguisu by the 2-go. Next, a dish called "primitive grilled fish" arrived, with a large sardine skewered on it. The cost might be cheap, but the fatty taste was incredibly delicious. It was fun to hold the skewer and take a big bite. As we continued to drink, we finished with pork steak and jaco rice, feeling full. Since it was Monday, we decided to leave. What, you want to eat ramen from heaven?! Okay, Taxi~!

Visited on Wednesday night with colleagues. The restaurant was about half full. The specialty of the place is grilling food on skewers over a hearth. It takes 40 minutes to cook, so we ordered it first. They have a wide selection of sake. Although baby corn was not on the menu, they were able to grill it for us upon request since it's in season. The prices are a bit high, so it's not the best value, but I might come back if invited again.

The staff seemed to be understaffed as no one noticed when I entered the restaurant and I was left unattended for a while. All the staff were in the kitchen, so I couldn't get their attention. The food was delicious, but it took a long time for the dishes and drinks to arrive. It was a unique experience to have the first dish I ordered come last. I was seated on the second floor, so I was unaware of the situation downstairs. Maybe the situation would have been different if it was less busy or if there were more staff. I'm unsure if I would go back considering the service.

A nice atmosphere, reasonable prices and good food make me want to come back again! The fish is delicious as it is grilled slowly over charcoal. We were able to eat in private rooms, which made us feel at ease. The horse sashimi, shirako, and sashimi were also delicious.

It had been a while since I visited this area, and I noticed that many new dining options had opened up, including sushi restaurants, yakiniku places, and soba shops. This particular restaurant had a counter on the first floor and private rooms on the second floor. When it came time to order, we used a self-ordering system through a tablet-like device, which seems to be becoming more common these days. The restaurant specialized in dishes cooked over straw, and I particularly enjoyed the grilled conger eel. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

It's been a while since I visited this restaurant. I've been staying away due to COVID-19. I knew from reviews that they have touch panel ordering, which I prefer. Today, I ordered the grilled cherry sea bream, a must-have here. While waiting, I snacked on sweet potato tempura. I also chose the meat platter to try a little bit of each. It's a bit pricey, but this place is known for its fish dishes! After beer, I decided to have some sake, opting for the reliable Nabeshima. Despite being introduced as a sake from Saga, the staff mistakenly said it was from Nagasaki, which made me chuckle. The grilled cherry sea bream took a long time to arrive. When it finally did, it was overcooked and dry. It was a bit disappointing for a long-awaited visit. Thank you for the meal.

I had the all-you-can-drink draft beer course. The appetizer, sashimi platter, grilled scallops, charcoal-grilled chicken skewers, salt-grilled rockfish, pork with mentaiko rice, strawberry daifuku were all included. The seafood and shellfish were average, but the river fish was delicious. I felt that the Hearth Course for 8,800 yen did not have good value for money.

I heard some rumors about this place and wanted to check it out for a second round of drinks. The restaurant had a fancy exterior and a somewhat formal atmosphere inside, which was unexpected for a robatayaki restaurant. I was a bit disappointed by the fact that we had to order using a touch panel, giving it a chain restaurant feel. The food was decent, but the overall experience fell short due to the lack of atmosphere. Maybe it was because of the current situation, but I personally didn't enjoy this style of dining much.

Just before the state of emergency, I went on a trip with my son to a restaurant with delicious food and drinks tonight. We made a reservation from Osaka and arrived. Unfortunately, the second-floor private rooms were all taken, so we settled for a table on the first floor. The restaurant had a chic and elegant atmosphere, with live fish swimming in tanks. ⭐️ Appetizer (beef tongue?) 330 yen served with yuzu pepper and green onions. ⭐️ Special sashimi assortment 3278 yen including abalone, horse mackerel, horse sashimi, scallops, sea bream, bonito, all very luxurious. Especially the abalone was crunchy and the horse sashimi was unique. The soy sauce for the horse sashimi was also separate and delicious. ⭐️ Grilled baby eel 968 yen best enjoyed with salt, a favorite of my son. ⭐️ Rotei Caesar salad 880 yen with a poached egg in the middle and well-balanced saltiness of the prosciutto. ⭐️ Tempura assortment for 2 people 990 yen each ⭐️ Rolled omelette 528 yen ⭐️ Miyazaki Hinata chicken thigh 748 yen highly recommended! Perfect seasoning and grilling. ⭐️ Tsukune (chicken meatball) 418 yen dipped in egg yolk for a creamy texture. ⭐️ Grilled rice ball tea pickles 550 yen each x2 with a fragrant grilled rice ball and strong tea flavor, I personally like it. ⭐️ Ichiban Shibori beer 748 yen x2 toasted with my son, so we opted for bottles instead of draft beer and poured for each other. ⭐️ Kin Kuro Fukuoka (black beer) glass 550 yen ⭐️ Asahi Kiku Natsu Ayaka (sake) glass 550 yen ⭐️ Frozen grapefruit highball 748 yen ⭐️ Extra serving frozen sour 330 yen an interesting option for chuhai, but I accidentally ordered a sour instead of a highball. Both were delicious though. The frozen grapefruit was cut into easy-to-eat chunks and frozen, making it very refreshing and tasty. The menu was extensive and everything was delicious, so I would definitely want to visit this restaurant again when I come back to Hakata. It had been a while since I last visited this restaurant. Since I was with children, we got a private room. They had changed to touch panel ordering, which made it easy to order while looking at photos of all the menu items. The prices for individual dishes were lower than before, so we were able to try a variety of dishes. The broiled conger eel was firm and delicious, and the chicken ramen at the end was light and tasty. The simmered dish was also very well-prepared, and I thought those who enjoy drinking would love it.

I wanted to try a charcoal grill restaurant! The exterior looked impressive. Next to the entrance, there is a smoking area with benches. There are small charcoal grills with grilled fish on top. I initially thought they were grilling there, but upon closer inspection, I realized there were mosquito coils inside. A unique decoration indeed! I enjoyed this little detail and then entered the restaurant. For charcoal grilling, sitting at the counter is a must! We were served charcoal-grilled local chicken as a starter. It smelled so good being cooked over charcoal! Orders were placed using a touch panel, which made it easy and quick. We started with sashimi, specifically sesame-marinated sea bream. The sashimi menu was limited, probably because the main focus was on charcoal grilling. The sea bream lacked a bit of freshness, but the seasoning was good. We also had a light appetizer. The seared board mustard greens were lightly seared on the surface and served with leaf mustard. I often cook mustard greens at home but never tried searing them, so this was a nice surprise! Now, onto the main attraction, the charcoal-grilled dishes! We had grilled sweetfish and sardines first. They had a beautiful sear, crispy on the outside and tender inside. The sardines were particularly delicious! But the standout dish was the straw-grilled scallops! They were thick and flavorful, with a smoky aroma that was irresistible. They went perfectly with the sake. We could choose our own sake cups, and I chose the Mt. Fuji design. Watching the straw burn at the counter added to the excitement of the meal. I would love to go back for a cozy evening experience. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I ate a lot for lunch, so tonight I started late. That means it's time for the happy hour at the nearby Rotei-san from 9 p.m. haha. We always go there and tonight my partner is having a draft beer, while I'm starting with a highball. The Black Nikka highball is part of the happy hour deal. First, we ordered snap peas and shiitake mushrooms. Then we had yellowtail sashimi with grated daikon. It was delicious with the fatty flavor! My partner's favorite, grilled sardines, never disappoint. My favorite is the baked Camembert cheese with bread. Finally, we had tea-soaked grilled rice balls. The grilled rice balls were chewy and delicious! I poured the broth over them and ate them quickly haha. Another delicious meal tonight!

Tonight we went to a nearby restaurant called Ro-tei. I had tonkatsu for lunch, so I'm not very hungry. We decided to take advantage of the happy hour from 9 pm onwards to enjoy some drinks at a good price. The first floor is full, and the second floor seems pretty busy too. There seem to be more younger customers than before, or maybe it's just my imagination. We were served vinegar tripe as a starter, and my partner had eggplant ohitashi. When you're not hungry, it's hard to decide on dishes haha. My partner insisted on getting the primitive grilled dish, so we ordered the large sardine primitive grill instead of the recommended straw grill, which takes longer. Unfortunately, they were out of snow peas, so we ordered sesame mackerel for now and continued to consider our options. My partner's beer went down smoothly during happy hour. I had a highball for my second drink. Lately, I've been into probiotics, so I had some shiitake mushrooms. We also had Camembert cheese baked with bread, which was quite delicious! We finished off with steamed peanuts and called it a night. We'll definitely be back during happy hour. Thank you for the meal!

Recently, there has been a lively atmosphere with new shops popping up in the area around Watanabe Street, off the beaten path towards Haruyoshi. I stumbled upon this shop while wandering around. It has a spacious counter around the hearth, a bright atmosphere, and a stylish vibe. I ordered the grilled sardines, thinly sliced filefish, tomatoes, snap peas, and other dishes that simply highlight the ingredients, and they were delicious. The service was also excellent, and I would love to visit this place again. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this place on the last weekend of the New Year holiday. Some shops are still closed, but there are many customers around. I was happy to receive a complimentary sweet sake. It was delicious. I forgot to take many photos this time. I guess my mind is still in holiday mode (lol). My partner enjoyed the grilled Oohane iwashi (sardines) beautifully, and I had beef skewers. We started with beer, but ended with Japanese sake, which felt very New Year-like. I had a satisfying experience enjoying the fragrance of the flowers. I will visit again soon!
