I went to a popular sushi restaurant in Temma where there is always a long line – Sushi Matsuri Nakaten. This day, I enjoyed some ladder sake in Temma. The restaurant is always crowded, but luckily, I only had to wait a little bit this time and got in quickly! The place has a counter and table seats, and I heard there are tatami seats on the second floor. I started with a sweet potato shochu highball. Sushi starts at 110 yen for 2 pieces, which is very reasonable! I tried the mackerel for 220 yen and tuna for 220 yen. The sushi here has small rice balls and big toppings, perfect for sake. I had a nice chat with the chef while eating – it was great! I also tried the salmon for 220 yen and plum cucumber for 220 yen. The salmon was fatty and delicious! I also had the egg red miso soup for 385 yen, which was very flavorful. I added the abalone for 550 yen and herring roe for 440 yen. The abalone had a good chew and was fresh, and the herring roe had a great texture. I ordered the fatty tuna for 550 yen – it was amazing! It melted in my mouth. I also tried the striped jack for 440 yen, which had a firm texture. Next, I had the grilled eel for 440 yen, which was soft and fragrant. I ended with the egg for 220 yen, which was slightly sweet and a perfect finish. This was my first time here, and by the time I left, there was a huge line outside! I visited around 7:00 PM on Sunday. It wasn't too crowded, so I was able to enjoy my meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The sushi rice was on the smaller side. Every piece of sushi was delicious. I couldn't help but compare it to Harukoma across the street. Personally, I think Harukoma is slightly tastier, but I appreciate that I didn't have to wait in line here and could eat slowly. It also seems a bit cheaper here. I might prefer Sushi Sei overall. The only downside is that they only accept cash. But both places are delicious and worth trying.

The line at this Harukoma was also long. However, as soon as we arrived, we were able to enter the restaurant. I wondered why the other lines were so long while this one was the shortest. We quickly entered and sat at the counter. My big body made it uncomfortable for the staff to pass behind me, but I didn't make a fuss. Cheap and average sushi. The rice could be a bit firmer if it was pressed with more pressure, but it falls apart because the pressure is weak. The toppings are okay. The service is quick. If this is what the famous budget sushi places in Temma are like, then it's disappointing.

Sushimasa, Harukoma, Sushimasa, and various other restaurants compete fiercely in the Ten-5 area. Today, I visited Sushimasa, which I have been to several times before. They had a regular sushi set meal for 700 yen, but today I opted for the premium sushi set meal for 1,100 yen. The premium set included ikura and sweet shrimp, but I think the regular set would have been just fine. I also added tekka maki, anago, and squid for about 1,000 yen.

Sushi Sei Nakamise @ Tenroku Gifu was planning to leave after leaving Tenroku Gifu, but my friend seemed like he still wanted to eat more and said there's no food at home, so I reluctantly went along (^_^;). It was almost 5 pm and the sushi restaurant across the street had a long line, but this one was empty. My friend's wife is from this neighborhood and she said Sushi Sei is better here. Sushi restaurants are in fierce competition. Great for a quick bite! Prices start at 100 yen for 2 pieces, as cheap as conveyor belt sushi! The set meals are a good deal and look delicious! I went to this restaurant in Temma with my junior colleague for a business trip to Osaka. Temma is an area with many bars and it was hard to choose, but we decided on this place based on my junior colleague's desire to eat sushi and good reviews. We arrived before 6 pm and were lucky to get a table. We ordered by writing our choices on a piece of paper. We ordered a variety of sushi and each piece was delicious with fresh ingredients. For the finale, we ordered the sea bream ushio-jiru, which is like a sea bream soup but more like a clear soup. The broth was flavorful and delicious. Since Shunkuma had a substitute holiday, I went to the restaurant across the street! It was packed, possibly because of that. After a while, a line formed. The red miso soup with eggs was impressive. The taste was full of the kick of sansho pepper. Overall, it was... yeah, I just enjoyed it as delicious!

Two pieces for 300 yen, that's the price of conveyor belt sushi. However, I have eaten good sushi in the past few years, so I would say the taste is decent considering the cost.

I checked on Tabelog and saw they were open until 9:30 pm. The restaurant serves alcohol, so I didn't think arriving late would be a problem. However, when I arrived at 8:30 pm, they were closed. I got tricked! I made another mistake with the information. But well, there are other similar restaurants in the area, so it's not a big deal. I asked if there was a seat available and they said they would make one for me, so I waited outside and eventually got in. Since it wasn't a counter seat, I had to order by writing on paper. I was the only one drinking at this time, so I felt a bit guilty. The clientele consisted mostly of groups of young women, which made me worry about the lack of a common touch. I hope the quality of the ingredients and prices won't change for the worse. Even though there is always a long line outside during holidays, the famous sushi restaurant in Umeda, Mannen Sushi, has significantly raised its prices. I don't think such restaurants have a bright future. Temma is now my last resort. The timing was late, so they were missing some ingredients. It's a bit disappointing, but that's okay. Especially, the fatty tuna, horse mackerel, squid, egg, and crab were all delicious. There was a long line at Harukoma across the street, but personally, I think if you're going to wait that long, Sushimasa might be a better choice. It's cold in the winter, after all (laughs). They only served beer and sake, and we had to handwrite our sushi orders. The food came out quickly and we could enjoy the sushi right away. The taste was decent, not outstanding. Each 2-piece sushi ranged from 100 to 500 yen, which was pretty affordable. In the end, it came out to around 4,000 yen per person. After filling up on beer and sushi, we decided to move on to our next stop.
