Shinjuku Katsu Priporo "Hungary's Treasure Purebred Mangalitsa Loin Cutlet Bowl" *Today, rib loin is not available. Pretty Pork Factory in Kabukicho, a popular high-end shabu-shabu restaurant, produces Katsu Priporo, a tonkatsu restaurant that operates with only carefully selected pork, only during lunch hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (and evenings on Tuesdays to Fridays from 5pm to 10pm). The restaurant is located a 3-4 minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station East Exit, on the 2nd floor of a building right in the heart of Kabukicho. It is recommended to make a reservation before visiting as there may be a wait due to the frying process. Today, I went for the Katsu bowl, but decided to order the rare limited menu item "Miyagi Prefecture Mangalitsa," a rare breed of pig designated as a national treasure in Hungary and only raised in a few locations in Japan. It took about 30 minutes from ordering to the arrival of the Katsu bowl at around 12:30, served with red miso soup and condiments (wasabi, sesame, seaweed). Topped with a generous amount of eggs from Tanaka Farm in Saitama, the dish also included white spring onions, making it a superb dish. The Mangalitsa pork, known for its fatty texture, was surprisingly not overwhelming and had a rich umami flavor. The combination of the lean meat and the juicy fat was perfect, especially when paired with the Katsu and the semi-soft egg. The rice was cooked in a charcoal-fired earthen pot using organic Milky Queen rice from Shiga Prefecture, giving it a sticky texture that complemented the Katsu well. The side pickles were plentiful, and the variety of condiments provided a nice touch. Overall, it was incredibly delicious! Just a heads up, the portion size is quite generous, so those with smaller appetites may want to consider ordering only 2/3 to 1/2 of the rice portion. Thank you for the meal!

Hello! I am Little Tooth, the wanderer from the north. Today, I visited this restaurant, which is one of the top 100 in the area. Since it's Saturday, I made a reservation through Tabelog. First, the citrus-scented hot towel was refreshing. I ordered the 14-day aged Tokyo x rib roast with menchi katsu. Just a note, there's a one-drink minimum order at night. The menchi katsu was delicious overall, but I wish it had a bit more meatiness. As for the rib roast, it had quite a bit of fat. It was tasty, but I feel like it's still a bit far from the taste of a high-end restaurant. The price also seems a bit high compared to high-end places, but they use good rice and offer various sauces, so overall it's delicious. I'd like to try a different type of meat next time. Thank you for the meal.

I've been curious about Pretty Pork for a while, and I had some business in Shinjuku so I decided to stop by. The taste was light and refreshing, leaving a good impression. I think Pretty Pork and the management may be the same. I attached a photo, and the mapping of the types of pork they handle is helpful. They don't always have all types available, but they seem to have around 7 or 8 varieties. It was my first visit, so I went for the most expensive option of the day, the Tenjo Kurobuta for 7,000 yen in the form of a loin cut. I always thought Kurobuta was from Kagoshima, but it seems Tenjo Kurobuta is from Shizuoka. The cheapest option is around 4,000 yen. In any case, it's not the usual price you'd find at a regular tonkatsu restaurant, it's a premium price. First, the soy honey mustard dressing they put on the cabbage is delicious. It's a dressing that really enhances the cabbage, and personally, it's in my top 3 tonkatsu restaurant dressings. The rice is also shiny and delicious. I usually don't pay much attention to brands, but this time it was Milky Queen rice. I didn't take a photo because white rice doesn't look good, but the rice cooked in the pot had the perfect moisture level for my taste. For the second helping, they recommend making ochazuke by putting nori on top of the rice. Now, onto the tonkatsu. The oil wasn't greasy at all, and that post-tonkatsu heaviness in the stomach was non-existent. I'm a complete amateur when it comes to cooking, but I wonder if they use good quality oil. The breading is delicious. According to the mapping, the Tenjo Kurobuta falls under the category of "light and refreshing, yet with a good elasticity," kind of like a strong-willed beauty with a tsundere personality. It had a bit more fat than I expected, but I still didn't feel heavy after eating it. They provide 3 types of sauce, ponzu, salt, and sansho pepper at the table. Personally, I liked dipping the tonkatsu in ponzu the most because the breading absorbs the ponzu well and the flavor seeps in. 7,000 yen for tonkatsu may seem pricey, but I was highly satisfied with the quality. I'm curious to try other types of pork as well. Shinjuku is not easy for me to access, so I may not be able to go often, but if it were in a more convenient location, I might want to visit every quarter or half a year. I felt the potential to surpass the famous tonkatsu restaurant Narikura.

I ordered the selected sirloin and diamond shoulder loin saddlebag, as well as the minced cutlet. The sirloin was tender and delicious. The shoulder loin had good fat content and was tasty. The minced cutlet was also delicious. Especially, the rice cooked in an earthen pot for table use was incredibly delicious.

I visited this restaurant for the first time based on a recommendation from a friend. The interior was a bit modern and had a stylish tonkatsu vibe. We ordered the following dishes for three people: Tenjo Kurobuta Royal Sapphire Shoulder Loin, Nankoku Sweet Special Fillet, and 14-day aged TOKYO X Loin. The Tenjo Kurobuta Royal Sapphire Shoulder Loin had just the right amount of fat, with a perfect balance of sweetness and chewiness. The Nankoku Sweet Special Fillet had a luxurious taste with minimal fat, making it easy for anyone to enjoy. The 14-day aged TOKYO X Loin was said to have less fat content, but I found it to be surprisingly fatty. However, the fat was delicious and at an appropriate level, making it very enjoyable. The staff were polite and the service was excellent. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

The GPS went crazy. There are places in Tokyo where it happens for some reason... Is this Kabukicho? Near the former Shinjuku Koma Theater. I believe there is a top-secret national facility underground here (laughs). Oh, this place, huh? Oh, it's on the second floor? Hard to tell... Finally entered the restaurant. It's spacious and a stylish tonkatsu restaurant. Ordered the Diamond Pork for 4,800 yen (tax included) (only shoulder cuts were left, so had to go with that). When you order, they immediately bring ponzu sauce and pickles. I don't need ponzu sauce~ I can't eat this many pickles~ Since it's tonkatsu, it takes about ten minutes... I, who doesn't drink alcohol, feel like this time drags on. I want water, but they don't bring it... After about ten minutes, the rice is served. I don't need this much rice~ I was about to ask them to take it away when they said you need to order a drink... Huh?! Oh, okay, then I'll have the Black Oolong Tea for 550 yen (tax included). So, no water... And the tonkatsu arrives. For me, unnecessary items are placed on the table, so I pulled the tonkatsu, rice, and miso soup closer to me and pushed the rest away. Then, starting from the middle piece, I eat the tonkatsu without anything else, without any breaks, in one go, that's my style. Oh~ The shoulder cut has a firm meat texture, juicy, with a good salty seasoning, it's good. I've never had Chiba's Diamond Pork before, but is it SPF? It's more concentrated and flavorful than SPF from the same prefecture's Hayashi. The pink in the center is okay, I think. The cooking is quite uneven. Slowly cooked at low temperature, then high temperature at the end, I suppose. The oil retention is poor, the lower side of the center's coating is oily. Well, it's because of the meat juice, but the frying oil has a sweet taste, so it feels heavy when it accumulates. The breadcrumbs seem to be the trendy low-sugar type, but I prefer ones with a bread-like flavor, so it doesn't quite suit me. The clam miso soup... without any ingredients... The cabbage is delicious. It's cut softly, with a lingering sweetness. But they don't need to serve this much. Even though it's all-you-can-eat, I don't go for seconds. The rice is not bad, but the way it's served is messy, with rice grains sticking all over the bowl's edge, which is disappointing. I'm the type who's happy as long as I can eat tonkatsu, so even if they serve a lot and I eat until full, I'm not happy at all. I don't drink alcohol, so the one-drink policy just makes the price feel high to me, with no benefits. It's a place for dates, right? It just didn't suit me. Thank you for the meal.

This is a tonkatsu restaurant located right in the middle of Kabukicho, Tokyo, operated by a Tokyo shabu-shabu restaurant with a focus on inbound customers. The service was fine, but the interior, despite being a mix of traditional and modern Japanese styles, seemed geared towards foreign visitors. The dining scene is quite limited, mostly for solo diners. The clay pot rice dish looks great, but the built-in IH stove tables were not very appealing. The Kagoshima Saddleback pork with name tags was a nice touch. The first two pieces were delicious, but the meat became slightly tough starting from the third piece. However, it was still tasty when paired with sesame and special sauce. Unfortunately, I couldn't try the Mangalitsa pork, but the pricing of 6000 yen for all cuts (rib, shoulder, regular loin) regardless of the part was interesting. The availability of rib was surprisingly limited across all brands. Overall, the easy reservation process was a positive aspect.

Tonkatsu Hyakumeiten is located right in the heart of Kabukicho. You can choose from various brands of tonkatsu, which gets you excited. I ordered the Rib Roast of Tenjo Sapphire. I usually prefer loin, but this fatty and satisfying tonkatsu was delicious. This restaurant offers a variety of ways to enjoy tonkatsu, such as with sauce, salt, ponzu, and sansho pepper. With so many options, I feel like having another piece of tonkatsu. But I'm already full. The colorful and refreshing pickles were a nice palate cleanser.

- Purebred Mangalitsa Pork Shoulder Roast ¥7,350 - Saddlebag Premium Fillet ¥6,500 - Scallop Fry ¥1,100 - Menchi Katsu ¥600 Here you can enjoy the Mangalitsa pork, designated as a national treasure in Hungary. The shoulder roast, which was still available due to frequent sell-outs, is juicy with a lot of fat. It is light yet full of flavor, a truly pork-like meat. The fillet is tender enough to be easily bitten through, moist and not dry at all. The scallop fry is cooked to a perfect rareness, and when seasoned with salt, you can fully taste the sweetness of the scallop. The Menchi Katsu is also delicious with various spices. The rice, cooked in a pot, has a clear and delicious grainy texture. We also enjoyed the delicious ochazuke as a finale. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very Kabukicho-like, but the taste is certainly of Tokyo's second best and the fourth best in the country. Thank you for the feast.

First visit. I was happy to be able to make a reservation for a famous tonkatsu restaurant for lunch, and it was even better that I could do it online. The interior of the restaurant was clean and not typical of a tonkatsu place. I ordered the Zadoback fillet and shoulder loin, which had high ratings on Tabelog. It took about 10 minutes to wait. I enjoyed some pickles on the table while waiting - cabbage and pickles, both were delicious. I ordered the shoulder loin, and while the edges were a bit tough, the rest of the meat was very tender, fatty, juicy, and delicious. I also tried a bite of the fillet, which was light and tender, recommended for women. The rice was delicious, and the miso soup with clams, although without any ingredients, had a strong clam flavor. The staff served the rice, and at the end, we had ochazuke with kombu dashi, nori, and wasabi. The bowl of rice was gone in no time. The price was quite high, but after tasting it, I felt it was worth it. It was the most delicious tonkatsu I've ever had. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

I had tonkatsu made with carefully selected pork, and it was the first time I had such a thick piece of pork for tonkatsu. The rice was cooked in a clay pot and was very delicious, I couldn't help but eat a lot. Since the tonkatsu was quite big, I wish they had mentioned that it was a large portion.

I went to Katsupripo again today. I was wondering what kind of pork they had, and I noticed they had Mangalitsa pork that wasn't available last time, so I ordered that. There was a slight mix-up and I ended up getting the loin instead of the shoulder. I also ordered the Tenjiki Black Pork to compare. They were quite different and it was interesting. I personally preferred the Tenjiki Black Pork, but I also want to try the leaner cuts of the Mangalitsa pork. The loin was a bit fatty. The oil itself was sweet and delicious, but it might be a bit heavy for some people... I felt a bit sad. The Tenjiki Black Pork was more to my liking! It's great that you can try a variety of options. Thank you for the meal! The bill came out to around 8000 yen per person.

I had been curious about KATSU Pripo-san for a while! It is located in the bustling downtown area, in the same store as Pretty Pork Factory. While I was interested in trying the shabu-shabu, this time I went for the tonkatsu! The price was a bit on the high side for tonkatsu, but I tried the purebred Mangalitsa variety. The meat was tender and delicious. There were plenty of sauces and side dishes, making it fun to change up the flavors. Personally, I think it's best with salt and wasabi. They have different varieties available on different days, so I would like to visit again and try more. Thank you for the meal!

Seeking the most delicious tonkatsu, I visited Pripo in Kabukicho, Shinjuku. The price for tonkatsu per person is between 6000-7000 yen, which is on the higher end. However, there is a reason for this. The restaurant uses carefully selected rare meats specifically for tonkatsu. You can enjoy these in generous portions. I made a reservation and visited with one other person. First, we were served rice cooked in a clay pot, which we let steam while waiting for the main dish. The rice used was a brand rice (I forgot the name), and it was shiny and delicious. Then, the main tonkatsu arrived. It came with original tonkatsu sauce and toppings like salt and mustard. I tried a piece of the shoulder loin from the Royal Sapphire breed of Tensho Black Pork. The fat was amazing! It was light and refreshing, yet with a deep sweetness. The second piece I tried with just salt, and it was also perfect. I have never had tonkatsu with such delicious fat before. Next, I tried a piece of the fillet from Yorkshire Diamond Pork. It was cooked to a medium-rare level in the center, tender, and refreshing. It was tasty, but the loin was still my favorite. This restaurant is all about enjoying the loin tonkatsu. It is not greasy at all, and the premium fat pairs perfectly with the shiny rice. It is truly the best. It feels like "the pig was born to become tonkatsu." I am happy to have encountered tonkatsu like this. Next time, I will compare different cuts of loin.
