Visit date: April 26, 2022 (Tuesday) Fukuoka bullet trip with 2 friends ☆ For the final dinner, we decided to have Fukuoka's specialty motsunabe! (Initially, we were planning to have goboten udon, but the udon place we wanted to go to, "Udon Wasuke Daimyo," was closed on Tuesdays, so we went for motsunabe instead.) Among the recommended restaurants in Fukuoka that we had heard from an acquaintance, this restaurant was also mentioned. The personal recommendation from that person was, "It seems to be popular among female customers, so if you're going with a female friend, definitely go." Since this was a trip with two female friends and I was curious about what aspects would appeal to female customers, we decided to give it a try! We arrived at around 5:30 pm. As soon as we entered, we noticed a row of autographs that seemed to belong to celebrities. When there are autographs at a new restaurant, it somehow gives a sense of reassurance. It was still early, but there was already one group of customers ahead of us. The customers ahead were indeed a young female duo. We took off our shoes upon entering the restaurant. We sat at a table with cushions arranged for four people. The interior of the restaurant was stylish, and the staff were also stylish and young. Since we had already been eating our way through the day and weren't very hungry, we only ordered motsunabe. The minimum order was for two people. We wanted to order different flavors to compare, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible. There were five flavors to choose from. We asked the staff for recommendations and ordered the most popular miso flavor. A drink was mandatory, so we ordered tea. The appetizer was boiled edamame with branches. Since I hadn't been to an izakaya since the start of the pandemic, the edamame felt really fresh. They prepared a hot pot with ingredients and a portable stove for our table. Once it boiled, we served ourselves into bowls and ate. The motsu was cut into large pieces and had a nice texture. In addition to the motsu, the ingredients included leeks, cabbage, bean sprouts, and julienned burdock. It wasn't as impressive as the motsunabe I had with my mother during a Kyushu trip in my student days, but it was a reliable flavor. Despite ordering only one dish, we were able to eat it all without getting tired of it. Since we had a flight to catch, we left after about an hour. The payment was made at the register, not at the table. We used a 10% off coupon. The price of the motsunabe felt a bit high, but thanks to the coupon, we paid 2000 yen for two drinks and motsunabe, with change left over. If I have the chance to visit again, I would like to try other dishes as well.
