When I visited my parents' house, we all enjoyed this castella cake. It's been a while since I had castella. The pre-cut slices are convenient because I always struggle to cut it neatly with a knife. The color is so vibrant! The moist and fluffy texture is delicious. It goes well with coffee. It wasn't topped with coarse sugar, but I still liked it.

Maruboro is a popular snack that is often given as a gift between companies, as an offering at family gatherings, or as a thank-you gift for celebrations. It's not your typical snack, but it's delicious in its own way. The texture is somewhere between moist and dry, making it just right. While I've tried Maruboro from other regions, the ones from Chidoriya are by far the most delicious. It's not that I have a preference for Osaka, but they really know how to make a tasty Maruboro.

I received this from a friend. ⭐️ It's like a collection of delicious manju from Natsubako Chidoriya. It included Honten Chidori Daiginjo Kiyosumi Palace Maple, Koshian Manju Kiyosumi Palace Maple Matcha Manju, and Maruboro Asagao with a morning glory design on a small box. Thank you for the classic summer products.

I bought it as a souvenir for my business trip to Osaka. You can find souvenirs from Osaka in any souvenir shop and they are cheap, so it's a good deal. The kids were also happy to receive them. Just be careful as the expiration date is not very long, but you don't need to put them in the fridge so you can easily buy them. It would be great if they were sold in smaller portions so I could bring them to work.

This is a shop located northeast of Honmachi Station in Chuo-ku, Osaka. Chidoriya Soke is a company established in 1986, with stores in five prefectures: Hyogo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Wakayama. They sell unique products such as Chidori Manju and Chirorian under their own names, as well as other products with a strong local flavor rooted in Osaka. Today's snack: Osaka specialty Mitarashi Mochi. This bite-sized mochi contains Mitarashi sauce inside. It was created with the idea of not getting your mouth dirty with sauce. This Osaka-born traditional Japanese confectionery combines soft mochi with sweet and savory Mitarashi sauce, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

There is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop called "千鳥屋宗家" in Osaka, which is known for its popular sweets "本千鳥" and "みたらし小餅". The shop also has a cozy café on the second floor, offering a nice view of the bustling streets below. The client chose this location for our meeting, and I was pleasantly surprised by the elegant atmosphere. The hot coffee served came with a complimentary "本千鳥" sweet, which brought back nostalgic memories of my childhood. The gentle sweetness of the confection paired perfectly with the coffee. Overall, it was a delightful experience and I would love to visit again.

This is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Midosuji Honmachi, Osaka. While you may find it elsewhere, I have never seen Mitarashi dango with sauce inside in the Kanto region. I came across it while walking along the approach to Ise Jingu the other day and was planning to buy it later, but unfortunately, I forgot. To make up for that regret, I did some research and found a similar item at this shop called "Mitarashi Kombu." It was perfect as a souvenir, so I bought it. It contained 12 bite-sized rice cakes, and when you bite into it, the sweet bean paste spreads out deliciously. I was satisfied.

This is a sake-infused steamed bun. It was lighter than I expected, and the filling inside was sweet red bean paste.

When you go up to the second floor, you will find a tea room with a Showa era atmosphere. I was torn between choosing "Ozen" and "Anmitsu". It was a bit disappointing that the red bean paste was not made in-house at this shop, as I expected a more authentic taste from a traditional Japanese confectionery tea room. However, it was a comforting space where I could relax during a short break. Thank you for the meal.

If you make mitarashi dango easier to eat... it's a must-buy souvenir! Be careful because the expiration date is 2-3 days!

I used it as a cafe. I had a Zenkai. The store was empty and I was able to relax in a hidden spot. The prices were reasonable and the Zenkai was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I like mitarashi dango, but it's not very convenient to eat because of the sauce. However, a recommended alternative is the "Mitarashi Kogane" here. Unlike regular mitarashi dango where the sauce is on the outside, this one has the mitarashi sauce inside the mochi. This makes it very easy to eat - just pick it up and put it in your mouth. You don't have to worry about the sauce dripping. The mochi itself is delicious, and the sauce inside has just the right amount of sweetness. It's quite easy to enjoy and makes for a convenient Osaka souvenir. Just be careful as the expiration date is quite short!

During a business trip on August 4, I decided to buy some souvenirs from Osaka, so I went to "Chidoriya Soke Main Store". It is located on the corner of the first intersection from Honmachi Station on Sakaisuji Hommachi Street, a store that I have never heard of in Tokyo. It seems to be a shop only found in Kansai. I was glad to visit such a shop. When I entered the store, the staff brought me Japanese sweets and tea, and explained them to me politely. I bought the following items: - Black Soybean Tea Water Yokan Assortment (3 pieces): 1,100 yen - Orange Jelly (3 pieces): 1,700 yen They seem to have a long shelf life, which is convenient. I tried one piece of each in my hotel room, and they were delicious. I would like to visit this place again during my next business trip in winter. Thank you very much!

My daughter, who traveled to Osaka, purchased a popular item from Shin-Osaka Station, which for some reason cannot be bought in the Kanto region. There are similar products available, but the authentic one is truly delicious.

Among the various Osaka souvenirs, my favorite is the Mitarashi mochi from the Chidoriya Soke store. I accidentally forgot to buy it, but this time I purchased it at a souvenir shop in Shin-Osaka Station. It is prominently displayed at both souvenir shops. The Mitarashi dango has a reverse version where the outside and inside are switched, but the deliciousness of the mochi is exceptional.

My daughter, who is accustomed to using the internet since elementary school and has friends across the country, recently went on an overnight trip to Osaka. She doesn't usually buy souvenirs, but this time she bought the Mitarashi mochi from Chidoriya Soke. Unlike regular Mitarashi dango, it has a sweet and savory sauce inside, making it quite delicious. When it comes to Osaka's Mitarashi dango, I remember Hikitasu Sohonpo, but it doesn't last long, so having something like this is also appreciated.

My husband brought back a souvenir from Osaka, the "mitarashi mochi" from Chidoriya Soke. Although I was aware of its existence, this was my first time trying it! The mochi filled with sweet and savory mitarashi sauce was absolutely delicious. Even without trying it, you can imagine how good it must be for sure! When I received it from my husband and opened it, I suddenly thought, "It would probably be delicious if I grilled it..." So, I decided to give it a try. I heated a frying pan with a little bit of oil, arranged the mitarashi mochi, and grilled them. It's important to keep them slightly apart so they don't stick together. Flip them occasionally until both sides are crispy. When I tried the freshly grilled mochi, the outside was crispy and fragrant, while the mochi inside was even softer! Compared to the plain, ungrilled ones, the grilled version definitely tasted better in my opinion. If you ever have the chance to try mitarashi mochi, I recommend adding this extra step of grilling them for a delicious twist!

This is also a souvenir from a business trip. It's a snack for after meals. Recently, I've seen a type of mitarashi mochi with sauce inside becoming more popular. This one is said to be the original. The instructions say to eat it in one bite. When you stick a toothpick in, the sauce oozes out from the mochi. When you put it in your mouth, the sweet and salty soy sauce flavor spreads from the chewy mochi. I really like this sweet sauce! It was delicious.

Honmachi Coco has a wide and nice store. I thought it was just a regular store, but it turns out to be the main store of Chidoriya. As the weather gets warmer, their specialty is the ayu sweet, priced at 151 yen including tax. The skin is carefully baked with a nice aroma, and although the sweet bean paste is not too sweet, the faint sweetness and chewy texture of the mochi make up for it. The sweetness is well-balanced with some sweetness added to the skin. The staff here provides excellent customer service, unlike the experience at Kuromon Market. This will definitely make me a repeat customer. (Release date: June 2016) Nankaihawks1’s Gourmet Guide Nankaihawks1’s Blog: http://hawks1.exblog.jp/
