During my trip to Hakodate, I visited a popular conveyor belt sushi restaurant because I was craving sushi. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the sushi wasn't rotating on a conveyor belt. Instead, you order using a touch screen and they bring the sushi to your table. I enjoyed delicious sushi while sipping on a Sapporo Classic beer, it was the best time. Every sushi I tried was amazing, but the eel sushi was especially outstanding. I definitely want to visit this place again.

I visited a popular revolving sushi restaurant in Hakodate city. There are several branches in the city, but this one offers a beautiful view of the sea while enjoying sushi, so I had to wait for about 10 groups at 1:15 PM. However, the rotation was fast, so I was seated at the counter in about 20 minutes. The sushi was not on a conveyor belt but ordered through a touch panel system. After a beer, I had the Kaisen Kobore Maki, grilled enagawa with soy sauce, surf clam, tuna assortment, and shrimp shinjo soup. Everything was fresh, especially the tuna which was delicious and generously sized. However, some of the rice was dry and slightly hard, which was a bit of a concern. Overall, I was satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I came here based on a recommendation from a taxi driver, who said even locals can enjoy fresh and popular sushi here. The sushi pieces are a good size and you can choose smaller ones to try more variety. The restaurant opens at 11am and I arrived 15 minutes early, but there was already a line of about 30 people. I managed to get a seat as the 9th group in the first round. By around 11:30am, there was a long line forming... probably a lot of tourists like me. I recommend aiming for the first round of seating! There are plenty of seats available, so if you line up early, you can have a relaxed dining experience!

This restaurant is more affordable compared to other shops. The dishes were very delicious because the ingredients were fresh. However, the only downside was that they often ran out of dishes due to being a popular spot. Taste: Delicious! Service: Since the dishes don't rotate seasonally, there is almost no service as orders are placed through tablets. Cost performance: I think it's good.

Hakodate Kantaro in Hokkaido is a must-visit for me whenever I go back to Hakodate. The seared gizzard shad was delicious, and the chawanmushi with plenty of salmon roe was also great. I hope I can come back again next year. #HakodateKantaro #HakodateGourmet #HakodateSushi #HakodateRestaurant #HokkaidoGourmet #HokkaidoTourism #HakodateTravel #HakodateFoodTour #NTM202308Lunch #NTMHokkaido #NTMHakodate

The Korobokkle family decided to have a meal before enjoying the night view from Mt. Hakodate. They chose this restaurant located midway between Yunokawa and Mt. Hakodate, which is actually the main branch of a nationwide revolving sushi chain called Kantaro, also found in Tokyo Station. Upon entering and making a reservation via touchscreen, they found that the wait was quite long. Even though they tried to find another place, at this time all the restaurants were full or out of sushi rice, so they ended up waiting for about 2 hours. The only saving grace was that the back of the restaurant faced the sea, with a sandy beach where the kids could pass the time. Finally seated, they had only 15 minutes until last order. The six hungry diners engaged in a fierce battle over the tablet to place their orders! Unfortunately, the live squid was sold out, but the cooked squid was also delicious. Although the food was tasty overall, they couldn't remember specific details about each dish. Despite the chaotic dinner experience, the stunning night view from Mt. Hakodate made them forget all about the dinner rush.

Recommended by someone who used to live in Hakodate. I thought it was called "Hakotaro" until I actually visited. I heard that the conveyor belt sushi here is delicious, so I decided to give it a try! I was told that there might be a long line, but we were able to get in with no wait at all.
Ordered:
- Fresh bluefin tuna
- Live scallop
- Fresh octopus
- Botan shrimp
- Miso soup with rock seaweed
The location is great, right by the sea with a lovely view. You can enjoy your sushi while looking out at the ocean. It's nice that they have fresh and live seafood available on the conveyor belt, and it really is delicious. It's also convenient that you can choose smaller portions of sushi. I was a bit unsure about the scallop, but it turned out to be delicious. My expectations were high, so I had mixed feelings, but overall it was a good experience! Thank you for the meal!

Great location! It feels amazing! I arrived in Hakodate and went straight there! I went at 5:00 so I was able to get in easily. It was nice that I could choose the size of the sushi rice portion according to the times. Thanks to that, I was able to eat a lot! The sea bream was so thick and delicious!

It is located about a 10-minute drive from JR Hakodate Station, along National Route 278. I was guided to an empty seat upon entering the entrance. Since it was a time when the store had just opened, I was able to sit down right away. This place, I think, is a revolving sushi restaurant, but the sushi does not actually revolve; instead, you select from a touch panel on the table. I ordered the "Kanta Roll," which is also the name of the restaurant. It is a type of thick sushi roll with a lot of fillings. It includes tuna, salmon, egg, flying fish roe, cucumber, and salmon roe. The large bite size is satisfying, and two rolls come on one plate. In addition to that, I also ordered nigiri sushi, gunkan sushi, and miso soup. You can enjoy your sushi while looking out at the Tsugaru Strait.٩( ᐛ )و

I visited during the daytime on a regular day. I was working nearby so I decided to stop by. It wasn't too crowded even though I arrived right at opening time. I wonder if it gets busier around lunchtime? Recommended items to order: hand-pressed mackerel, grilled collar, negitoro battleship. Hmm, I'm not sure. It was just okay for the effort to come all the way here. Maybe it would be better to go to a fishery cooperative instead. Personally, I thought the seared salmon and collar were delicious. The mackerel was decent too. Maybe the timing and choices were not the best.

Hanataro Ugaura Main Store
I enjoyed authentic sushi against the backdrop of a beautiful ocean view. Being the original store, the quality of the sushi here is on a different level compared to other Hanataro locations. It is highly praised by locals for its deliciousness. The three types of tuna and salmon roe were especially delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

All the sushi was plump, glossy, and fresh! Sweetness! Deliciousness! It was amazing! The shime-saba and other items had large pieces of fish, very satisfying! We had to wait for an hour to get in, but it was worth it! The food came out quickly, within about a minute of ordering, which was great because we could keep eating more and more!

A popular revolving sushi restaurant in Hakodate. The view of the blue ocean in front of you is the best situation. The sushi is top-notch. I was especially impressed by the engawa. The richness is extraordinary. Grilled engawa, grilled soy sauce engawa, grilled miso engawa, grilled salted engawa. I ate engawa for a lifetime.

Just before 6 pm on weekdays, the seared anago (eel) was so delicious that it melted in my mouth. The squid was full of flavor and the salmon was incredibly creamy. The salmon from Hakodate was also featured on the menu. The octopus, shark, and flounder didn't have very distinctive flavors. The yellowtail tuna had a slight frozen taste.

Finally, nearing the end of our adult school trip in Hakodate, Hokkaido, we were deciding what to eat for our last meal when my sister in Sapporo suggested sushi. Sushi? Seriously? We had to go! We found a lovely restaurant along the coast and ordered: overflowing maki, sea urchin, medium fatty tuna, grilled eel with soy sauce, herring roe, flying fish, salmon trio, some kind of shellfish, negitoro thin roll, and miso soup (with seaweed). The ordering was done through a touch panel, and the sushi was delicious! The quality was really high for a conveyor belt sushi place. The grilled eel with soy sauce was the highlight of the meal. My sister in Sapporo sprinkled seven spice on her sushi, so I tried it too and it was delicious. It was my first time trying seven spice on sushi, but it was really good. We enjoyed our meal with a beautiful view of the Tsugaru Strait in front of us. It was a satisfying experience.

Gourmet conveyor belt sushi Hantaro Ugaura Honten @ Hakodate. I had a seafood bowl before going to the conveyor belt sushi. I enjoyed ikura, uni, and squid, all of which were delicious. As expected from Hokkaido, each dish had great potential! Next time, I want to eat to my heart's content when I'm really hungry. It was a satisfying conveyor belt sushi experience after a long time. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a restaurant in the Kisarazu Outlet and decided to try their food. The sea urchin was amazing! The medium fatty tuna, Hako Tarou roll, squid, and three types of salmon sashimi were all delicious. I was so engrossed in eating that I forgot to take a picture at first. The location was also very nice, making it a fitting end to my trip. It's right in front of the Hako Bus Ugaura-cho bus stop. On a side note, I bought a 2-day unlimited ride pass for the Hako Bus and Kan-etsu Bus for 1,700 yen, which was very convenient and cost-effective!

On the third day of the GW Hokkaido trip, I went to a famous revolving sushi restaurant in Hakodate. Although the sushi was not rotating, it was decent. I feel bad comparing it to the delicious sushi I had yesterday, but honestly, it was just okay. The fish was fresh and tasty, but it felt like the potential was not fully realized. The rice was soft and fell apart easily, and even the soy sauce dish couldn't hold up. It was also relatively expensive. The anago (conger eel) was large and delicious, which was satisfying, but everything else was just average, except for the seared items. Any local sushi restaurant near a fishing port could probably offer this level of quality. Maybe I had set my expectations too high.

It seems that the revolving sushi restaurant in Hakodate is quite popular, as it was very crowded when I went. However, since there were not many people dining alone, I only had to wait for about 15 minutes to be seated. Looking at the menu, I decided on ikura, sujiko, and uni. The uni cost 660 yen per piece, which was more expensive compared to other items. I tried the uni and found that it didn't have a strong taste, so I was able to eat it even though I'm not a big fan. The ikura and sujiko were delicious as expected. I also tried the Nishin gunkan for the first time, and while I wouldn't say it was delicious, I didn't find it unpleasant either (laughs). I realized that I was really eating fish! This time, I mainly chose Hokkaido specialties, but next time I will try dishes from other regions too.

We visited Hanataro Ugaura store for lunch on the first day of our 2-night, 3-day trip to my wife's hometown of Hakodate. We had visited this place last summer, but it was in the evening, so this time we went for lunch. I felt like maybe my expectations were too high, as I didn't find many dishes to be particularly delicious. The freshness was definitely good, but I think it might just be a matter of personal taste. When I asked locals, some mentioned that the Goryokaku store has better food. Thank you for the meal.
