A hidden gem in Shimonogōfukucho, a neighborhood where most shops are closed on Sundays. I personally believe that Sundays are the perfect day for going out to drink, but this area is almost deserted. However, I discovered a place called Kajin. This restaurant, located in a renovated old folk house, quietly stands out. Run by the owner and head chef, the place surprisingly has a decent capacity. The atmosphere is somewhat stylish, like a casual izakaya. Here, you can order a selection of 1 to 5 sashimi dishes based on what ingredients are available. I highly recommend the Yokowa if they have it. The seafood dumplings are a must-try! The perfectly cooked dumplings are filled with a blend of seafood that surpasses the flavor and juiciness of meat. The texture of squid or octopus adds to the experience. Their mapo tofu is their specialty. The incredible depth of flavor can be enhanced with a spicy kick based on your preference. The head chef's skills are top-notch! The constantly evolving dishes, blending Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine, never disappoint. The owner, who used to work at a hotel, provides a pleasant customer service experience. Once you visit, you'll be captivated by this place.

The fatty horse mackerel and amberjack were delicious! I visited alone, but the friendly chef and the nice customer next to me made it a fun time. I would like to visit again. Thank you, chef.

The interior of the store was beautifully renovated and very clean. There were counters, tables, sunken kotatsu-style private rooms, and a second floor with a tatami room that can accommodate up to 30 people, making it a versatile place for friends, couples, or parties. The food, whether Japanese, Western, or Chinese, was all delicious with no disappointments, and the cost performance was also good! I will definitely use this place again! Thank you very much!

Kaito is a stylish restaurant located near the Kuramoto bus stop on Daihaku Street, walking towards Chiyomachi. I went there in the fall and tried a sashimi platter including Pacific saury, which was amazing. The head chef has experience in Chinese cuisine, reflected in some items on the menu. There are private rooms on the second floor for groups. I requested the chicken shiratama ramen, and they asked about my preferences for the soup. The noodles were perfect, slightly curly and yellow, and the soup was light yet flavorful. The restaurant is a great place for a quiet and discreet date due to its slightly secluded location.

This is a creative cuisine restaurant located along the Fureai Street in Shimokofukumachi. I visited this restaurant for lunch, which appeared near the entrance of Kofukumachi Inter. As I entered the discreet entrance, I found myself in a long and narrow traditional Hakata-style house. Since I was alone, I sat at the counter near the entrance, but there were also table seats and tatami rooms on the second floor. I ordered the salted mackerel set meal from the lunch menu displayed at the entrance. The set meal, priced at 750 yen, came with a small salad. The soup in the set meal was an egg-based soup. The main dish, the mackerel, was grilled carefully, making it easy to eat with crispy skin. The set meal also included pickles and simmered vegetables. To my delight, coffee was served as a complimentary service after finishing the meal. The restaurant is located on the left side of the Kofukumachi entrance of Fukuoka Urban Expressway. Kaito Address: 5-26 Shimokofukumachi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City Phone: 050-5595-3610 Closed on Wednesdays Business Hours: 11:30-14:00 (LO 13:30), 18:00-1:00 (LO 24:00) Night business only on Saturdays and Sundays, until 23:00 (LO 22:00)

Wow! It was delicious! This beautiful restaurant, renovated from an old Japanese house, is great for solo dining, couples, colleagues, and families. There are tatami rooms and private rooms available, making it suitable for various occasions like family gatherings and year-end parties. As expected from a Hakata izakaya, the quality is top-notch! Although it seems to have only been open for six months, both the owner and staff are professionals in the food and beverage industry. The sashimi and grilled fish were excellent, as well as the meat dishes and Chinese cuisine. I will definitely visit again! m(_ _)m

This time, I checked the restaurant on Tabelog and went with my family (wife and 3-year-old daughter). They had both meat and fish dishes, and also shrimp dishes that my daughter loves, so we were satisfied! My daughter had the shrimp mayo dish and she was very happy. She even had dessert sneakily. I had a nice chat with the chef or owner, I'm not sure, and we hit it off. Coincidentally, we found out that we knew each other as well, which was a surprise for both of us. The only regret is that I forgot to try the tantanmen. I will make sure not to forget next time and leave a comment again after trying it.
