I chose the most popular Niku Gobo Ten Udon at a soft udon restaurant in Fukuoka. Instead of green onions, there is plenty of wakame in it. The meat is tender and the broth is flavorful. The atmosphere with the owner, his son, and the older ladies is nice. It's self-service, but that's also good.

This is a popular udon restaurant in Hachiman Nishi-ku. It's always crowded and full of cars. I went in smoothly this day because it was well past lunchtime. There were still a few customers inside. This time, I had the meat and burdock udon. The special feature of this restaurant is that all dishes come with wakame seaweed. The meat was plentiful and the burdock was sliced for easy eating. I ended up feeling quite full.

I visited the udon restaurant called Masani in Sankamori, Yahatanishi-ku, Kitakyushu City. This place is famous for its Niku Gobo (meat and burdock root) dish, which is delicious, but this time I tried the Gobo Maru-Ten Soba (soba with burdock tempura) and Shiro Onigiri (white rice ball). The self-serve pickled mustard greens were amazing and delicious. The burdock tempura was soft and tasty. I will definitely visit again.

The crispy burdock and hearty meat in the udon are all incredibly delicious. The spicy pickled mustard greens and white rice balls are the perfect side dishes. I love Udonya Masa so much. I really like the meat and burdock combination. Next time, I'll try a different menu. I will definitely visit again.

On a Friday holiday in May 2023, as expected, a drunken person who doesn't even remember what time they came home due to excessive drinking is suffering from a hangover. With a hoarse voice from alcohol, they say, "I want noodles, I really want to go." Just the other day, I went to a nearby restaurant called "Men Waday" but I don't feel like I remember the way, so I put it in the navigation and set off. I have a terrible sense of direction. When I arrived at the opening time of 11:30, the restaurant was already open and about 80% of the tables were occupied. There were no tables, just two rows of counters (surrounding the walls of the restaurant) with a total of nearly 30 seats. Watch out for those with small children. I quickly placed an order!! My husband unexpectedly ordered the "Yamakake Udon ¥800" and I ordered the "Tsukimi Konbu Udon ¥700" with two seaweed-wrapped rice balls for ¥260. Oh man, I made a mistake!! The konbu was very fine, but as soon as it was served, I slurped it up and the dashi came out so much that the soup taste became too strong. Still delicious though. The seaweed-wrapped rice balls had seasoned rice and tasty seaweed. I tried my husband's Yamakake and it was delicious, with tororo and flavor, and the dashi wasn't diluted at all!! I should have ordered this one. As for my husband, recovering from the hangover, he quickly finished the udon and rice balls and said, "I want to add white rice and put it in here to eat." Seems like he's revived from the hangover (laughs) Thank you for the delicious lunch. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived before 2:00 pm on a weekday, but the parking lot was full. However, the turnover was fast so I didn't have to wait long to park. I couldn't decide between cold dipping soba and zaru soba, but ended up ordering the cold dipping soba. I also wanted to eat udon, but I prefer soba so I chose that. The noodles were nicely chilled... delicious. The fact that they are open without a break in the afternoon and late into the night is very convenient. They accept PayPay, and I was able to get a PayPay points card. Thank you for the meal!

I went to Orio for a practical matter. The journey was tough due to heavy snow, but my errand was done by 3:00, so I headed to a restaurant. The counter was by the kitchen and the wall. I ordered the meat and burdock udon and waited for a while. The portion was larger than I expected, with plenty of seaweed, so I felt really full. The sweet meat and large burdock tempura were great. It was quite satisfying.

Visited around 20:00 on Monday. Ordered the Meat and Burdock dish for 900 yen. It was served in about 5 minutes. The dish was full of ingredients! The meat was sweetly seasoned and the burdock tempura was crispy. There was plenty of seaweed in it. The udon noodles were soft and chewy, with a slightly weak texture. The sweet broth was comforting. Thank you for the meal.

Visited on Thursday around 19:40. Ordered the Cold Deluxe Yamakake for ¥1,100, with a choice of soba or somen. Chose soba. It was served in about 7 minutes. The Deluxe version was indeed luxurious with plenty of toppings – meat, burdock tempura, egg yolk, wakame seaweed, mountain vegetables, chopped nori, and green onions. The burdock tempura was crispy and slightly sweet. All the toppings were cold but not overly seasoned, which was nice. Thank you for the delicious meal.

It's been so many years since I last visited this restaurant in a food-dense area. I ordered the burdock tempura udon, and it was delicious with a smartly flavored broth and homemade noodles. The tempura coating didn't get soggy quickly, and it had plenty of fresh sprouts, not dried ones. If you prefer a light meal, this is the place to go.

In the competitive area of Uomachi Nishi Ward, this udon restaurant has made a name for itself. The interior has only counter seats, and the recommended dish is the Niku Gobo Tempura Udon. It comes with a generous amount of beef, sliced gobo tempura, and a unique touch of wakame seaweed. The noodles are soft and the soup is light, but the rich flavors of the beef and gobo tempura blend well to create a savory soup. It's a filling and satisfying meal guaranteed to leave you full. Surprisingly, even though it's an udon restaurant, they have karashi takana (spicy pickled mustard greens) available, which adds a nice touch to the meal. It's so good that you'll want to buy some if it's available for sale. If you love udon, this is a must-try recommendation!

Visited on a holiday night with a few friends after not coming here for a few years. I ordered the unique mountain vegetable tempura udon for 600 yen, which had a generous portion of soft udon noodles and a flavorful dashi broth with a strong kelp taste. It's definitely delicious, especially in this area! My friend ordered somen noodles, which were also really tasty - perfectly chilled and had a nice texture. It reminded me of the somen noodles from Shodoshima. Overall, the preparation and taste were great!

※From January 16th to February 7th, the business hours have been changed to around 11:30 to 20:00. Due to the extension of the state of emergency, there is a possibility that the shortened business hours will continue after February 7th. Along this street, the popular udon restaurants seem to be "Udon-ya Masa" and "Men Wadaya". He seems to be a fan of "Udon-ya Masa" and has been going there for many years, with his favorite being the meat and burdock udon. However, on this day, I had udon somewhere else during the day...(^▽^;) He thought about whether there was something else suitable besides udon, but I was also interested in this restaurant, so we ended up deciding to go here. I planned to choose a lighter menu like zaru or kake, to get a sense of the broth and noodle texture, so we entered the restaurant. When we entered, there were multiple mountain-style menu options! I love grated yam, so I ended up ordering the mountain-style udon. He told me that the meat and burdock tempura is delicious, but I'm not a big fan of burdock and I think it makes me feel full, so I declined('_') I was amazed at how full the meat and burdock tempura was served. The mountain-style udon also arrived soon♪ The grated yam already had soy sauce mixed in, so it was a light brown color with plenty of chopped seaweed. It didn't look very appetizing with the white grated yam, but... I cautiously took a bite and it was delicious(´,,•ω•,,`) It had a subtle seasoning that wasn't too salty but wasn't bland either, making it an exquisite grated yam. When I think about it, I would end up adding soy sauce to the white grated yam later anyway(笑) Ah~ I want to put this on hot steamed white rice and eat it(White rice addiction relapse after a long timew) I'm happy with the generous amount of grated yamv The noodles were soft and slippery... They were soft but didn't break when picked up with chopsticks, giving them a chewy and sticky texture. This might be a love-it-or-hate-it kind of thing, but as a born and raised Fukuoka resident who grew up with soft udon, I had no problem with it. I actually like even softer noodles. I've always thought that most noodles are delicious, so I honestly don't know whether they're good or bad(^▽^;) I like both soft and chewy noodles, so whether I like that udon depends on the seasoning of the broth and ingredients. I'm not a fan of thick and tough noodles. I like the slippery texture of these noodles◎ I wasn't very hungry, so I initially said I wanted something light... but that enthusiasm was gone, and I ended up eating everything☆ I also fell in love with the atmosphere of the restaurant, so I want to come back again sometime(*´∀`*) Most customers were dining quietly, with 1 to 2 people at a time, but I felt relieved and relaxed by exchanging a few words with the chef and sharing updates. It seems like there are many regular customers. I was also interested in the yudame udon and nyumen, as I haven't seen them much elsewhere.

I ordered the Meat and Burdock Mountain Udon (¥1000). The dish was covered with grated yam, burdock tempura, egg yolk, green onions, shredded seaweed, wakame, and delicious sweet and savory seasoned meat. The wakame portion was quite large, but I later found out that you can request it to be "none" or "less". The udon noodles were more on the soft side rather than firm. Overall, the flavor was great and I finished every last drop of the broth. The portion size is quite generous, especially for women. Also, you can enjoy complimentary pickled vegetables, which were a bit spicy but tasty. Next time, I want to try the popular No. 1 dish, Meat and Burdock Tempura. Thank you for the meal.

◉Genre: Udon, Soba ◉Area: Nagaumaru, Yahatanishi-ku, Kitakyushu City ◉Access: 5 minutes walk from Kitakyushu Chikuho Electric Railway Sangamori Station ◉Parking: Available ◉Credit card payment: Not accepted ◉Number of visits: 2nd time ◉Number of reviews: 1st time On this day, I casually went to "Udon-ya Masa". ◇Exterior and Interior This udon restaurant is located in Nagaumaru, Yahatanishi-ku, Kitakyushu City. The nearest station is Sangamori Station on the Chikuho Electric Railway, but Nagaumaru Station is also fine. The area around Sangamori Station has many deep shops and snack bars, and within that, this udon restaurant that stays open late can be considered unique. The exterior is a detached house, typical of a udon restaurant, and the interior has a nostalgic atmosphere. There is a TV and the interior is non-smoking. ◇Seating There are only counter seats with no table seats. The counter is divided into two sections, with a total seating capacity of around 30. ◇Menu Structure They offer hot and cold udon and soba. The udon noodles are thick and soft. The items I ordered are as follows: - Cold Yamakake Soba (800 yen) Of course, there is only cold yamakake soba! It's my go-to dish for finishing off a night of drinking. The soba noodles here are firm and classic. The coldness of the dish, which is already chilled to perfection, is to my liking. The texture is excellent thanks to the grated yam. The toppings include chopped nori, mountain vegetables, egg yolk, grated yam, and green onions. Mountain vegetables are a distinctive feature of this restaurant, and they are also included in the yamakake. The grated yam seems to have been seasoned with dashi. The default sauce is all in the bowl, and it is thick and sweet. The harmony of the slippery noodles wrapped in grated yam and egg yolk, with accents of green onions, nori, and wasabi, is delightful. A popular cold yamakake with a rich and sweet flavor! It's impossible for it to taste bad... (-᷅_-᷄๑) I am satisfied once again tonight. ◆Strong Points The unique flavor that unfolds from the sweet broth sets this udon apart as one of the most distinctive in the city! Personally, I am happy that they offer cold dishes even in the winter. ◆Customer Service The friendly service is appreciated. ◆Conclusion I have yet to experience crowds, and I enjoy a leisurely visit late at night. The fact that they are open until 12 midnight in this area is valuable. I will visit again. Next time, I'll try the large serving of cold yamakake. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^

I finally got to go on a day off, as I couldn't find the right timing before. The parking lot was full, but I managed to find a spot. The counter is self-service, so you have to order and get your own water. I looked at the menu and quickly ordered the meat and burdock tempura udon. It had a lot of seaweed, and the meat matched well with the burdock tempura, making it very delicious!

When you come to Kokura, you must try the Niku Gobo Tempura Udon. It's a local specialty. Be careful though, the takana (pickled mustard greens) in Kitakyushu is very spicy! Don't eat too quickly just because you're hungry. The taste is, of course, delicious. The noodles are thick, typical of Kyushu, and very filling. This restaurant is a great place to enjoy the local udon experience.

A long-established udon restaurant established in 1988. Facilities include a parking lot, counter seating and tables facing the wall (no individual tables, so groups sit side by side). The restaurant is known for its delicious burdock tempura and wakame seaweed. The deluxe cold soba with mountain vegetables is highly recommended, as it includes mountain vegetables, meat, burdock tempura, yam, and egg. The restaurant also offers all-you-can-eat pickled mustard greens, which are very spicy. Those who enjoy spicy food may find it addictive and return to the restaurant for more pickled mustard greens.

I ordered the Meat and Burdock Udon with the most popular Meat and Burdock being the top choice and the second popular Burdock Mountain Sauce being the second choice. As someone who prefers udon and soba, I saw a local TV program the other day and felt like eating it, so I decided to visit this place. The taste is good, but I want to compare it with the neighboring udon shop, which also saw the same local TV program and got curious about trying it out.

The other day, I reviewed "Men Waday" near the same store, so I decided to revisit here as well. Initially, I didn't have a good impression of this place, making it difficult to give a fair evaluation. When I first visited, it seemed like the shop was about to take a lunch break, and the man who seemed to be the owner was already napping at the counter. However, there was a lady who I assumed was the owner or a female staff member present, so I sat far away from the sleeping man. Just as I started eating my food, the man suddenly woke up and seemed to be half asleep, staring at me the whole time, making me feel uncomfortable as if I had done something wrong by coming at that time. So, even though I am a fast eater, I hurriedly finished my meal and left the shop. However, the taste itself was not bad, and I thought it might have been delicious if I had eaten calmly. So, I decided to revisit during a less busy time. When I entered the shop this time, to my surprise, he was sleeping again! And this time, despite there being around 5-6 customers, he was sound asleep. But this time, it was a more suitable time to visit, there were other customers, and my main purpose was to enjoy the udon. He woke up again, greeted each customer, and even went around the shop, and then went into the kitchen to do some secondary tasks like washing dishes or preparing. When I was wondering what was happening, the "Niku Gobo Udon" that I had ordered arrived! I took a sip of the broth and it was delicious! Moreover, this time, I had ordered the meat version which added a sweet and savory flavor, enhancing the overall taste. I had mentioned in my review of "Men Waday" nearby that the broth was not to my liking, but this one was completely to my taste (sorry, Waday). I realized that without any interruptions, if you can properly savor the food, you can give a fair evaluation. Personal Food Log Rating: 3.6
