For lunch on this day, I went to "Gokuraku Udon AH Men" in Teramachi. It was a support lunch for a restaurant that is still operating despite the pandemic. I tried the July special menu, "Spicy! Soupless Cold Tan Tan Men." The udon was medium size, and I used a mobile coupon to also get a seasoned soft-boiled egg. The July special menu at AH Men was described as "Spicy! Soupless Cold Tan Tan Men." It consisted of thick udon noodles coated in a spicy and creamy sesame sauce, topped with flavorful minced meat miso with a tingling sensation of Sansho pepper, all served cold without soup. I mixed it well before eating. The udon here is thick and chewy, with minced meat miso, white leeks, shredded red chili pepper, and cilantro on top. The combination of thick udon noodles, sesame sauce, and minced meat miso was really delicious. The highlight was definitely the cilantro! Its addition added both deliciousness and freshness to the dish. I also added a soft-boiled egg halfway through, which made it even more delicious!! The Spicy! Soupless Cold Tan Tan Men was so delicious~~~

Located just a 1-minute walk from Terada-cho Station, this udon restaurant is one of the top 100 udon shops in 2022. It is a branch of the famous Tamazo's Gokuraku Udon TKU group, known for their clever naming sense. I visited for the first time around 8 p.m. on a weekday. The interior has a counter with 6 seats and 4 tables for 4 people each. There were about 8 customers inside, with 2 seats at the counter and 1 table available. Since I had tried the TKU at the Tamazo branch, this time I ordered the popular Chicken Tempura and Egg Curry Udon (medium size) with all-you-can-eat rice for 1290 yen. The noodles were normal size at 400g, with a free upgrade to 500g for medium size. The curry sauce with beaten egg overflowing was topped with crispy chicken tempura. The sauce was lightly seasoned in a Japanese style, creating layers of sauce, noodles, and curry. The firm noodles were thick and had a surprising chewiness, filling the mouth with just a few bites. The chicken tempura was crispy and delicious when mixed with the curry sauce. Lastly, I poured the curry sauce over the rice to make a comforting porridge. Personally, I preferred the Chicken Tempura Udon without curry sauce.

It's been a while since I had chicken egg curry udon. The curry is buried at the bottom, so I dug it up and mixed it in. It's delicious! I went for the small size with 300g of udon instead of the normal 400g. It comes with free rice. For the finishing touch, I mixed in the free rice and tempura scraps to make a porridge. So tasty! Be sure to slurp without mixing the curry and sauce at the bottom, until the spicy curry and sauce blend in halfway through, creating a rich flavor. Finish by mixing in the complimentary white rice. This curry udon is like a completed piece of art, with no room for improvement. The restaurant is so memorable that I would even like to try their cold udon if I weren't already so full. I wonder if the broth is different from the original TKU. The only downside was that the okra had torn through the batter.

I have been a fan of the Gokuraku group for a while, and I decided to try their udon shop near JR Teradacho. This is my second visit since Gokuraku TKU. I came to check it out now that it has been recognized as one of the top 100 udon shops. I arrived right when they opened at 11 am on a Monday, so it was still empty. I ordered the hearty meat and garlic udon with free extra noodles up to 500g. If you like their Facebook page, you get a free chicken tempura. Overall, it was a satisfying experience in terms of both taste and other aspects.

I visited a restaurant I had always wanted to go to, in Tennoji while on a work trip. I parked my car at a coin parking lot a little further away and walked to the restaurant. When I arrived, there were 2 groups ahead of me, so I had to wait for about 10 minutes after writing my name down. When the staff called my name, one person from the previous group was missing, but they said they couldn't seat us until everyone was present, so I went in first. I ordered the chicken tempura and egg curry udon that I had decided on from the menu in advance. When asked about the amount of udon, I said I wanted a regular portion. Later, I found out that a regular portion was 400g, which is equivalent to 2 normal servings. They also asked if I wanted rice, so I asked for it as well. After waiting for nearly 20 minutes, my dish finally arrived. It was huge! A large bowl filled with a generous amount of scrambled egg curry sauce. Three large pieces of fried chicken on top, which seemed like it could fill me up on its own. First, I tried the sauce, which had a light Japanese flavor. When I dug out the udon from underneath, I found thick and firm noodles. Underneath that was the curry, giving the impression that it was layered. I started by eating the udon with the sauce on top, then mixed it with the curry below after reducing the amount a bit. When mixed, the curry also contained beef and onions. The taste of the mixed curry and sauce wasn't as great as I had expected, but the noodles were smooth and nice. The portion was just too much. I was relieved that the rice portion was small, but I was still uncomfortably full. Nevertheless, I managed to finish it all. The chicken tempura made with thigh meat was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Utopia Udon Ah-Men @ Teradamachi / Chicken Tempura Six TKU & Rice On a Saturday weekend, I decided to visit Teradamachi after a long time, so I prepared and set off. I was excited to go to that shop in Teradamachi and have their rich dried fish broth ramen, but the heat made me give up on the ramen. So, I decided to go for cold udon at Ah-Men instead. It's been a really long time since I last visited Ah-Men. Since it was a bit past lunchtime, I was able to enter without waiting. I sat at an available table and looked at the menu. Oh! There seems to be a summer limited menu. A cold chicken egg curry udon. I thought about comparing it with Inakoko @ Kizure Uba, but there was another menu that caught my eye on the next page. It was TKU, not TKM. A udon with a raw egg on top, specifically the Chicken Tempura Six TKU. I ordered it with a medium portion (500g) of noodles, which was free of charge. I also ordered a side of white rice. After a short wait, the food was served. You can tell just by looking at the orange color of the yolk that it's very rich. It seems like we are supposed to pour raw soy sauce on it. I broke the yolk, mixed it well with the udon, poured the raw soy sauce, and took a bite. As expected, the yolk was very rich and delicious. The raw soy sauce had a good depth of flavor and aroma, enhancing the taste of the udon even more. The chicken broth also added depth to the flavor. The udon had a smooth texture and a good chewiness, thanks to being properly rinsed in cold water. The bounce in each bite was incredible. The tempura chicken had a crispy coating and juicy meat. It was easy to eat with the cuts made in it, making it suitable even for women to enjoy. I easily finished the 500g portion. Apparently, the record at this shop is 4500g (laughs). Next time, I'll try the cold chicken egg curry udon!

It's been a while since I had udon for lunch at Ah-Men near Terada-cho Station. I found a limited-time set menu called Soboro Don, in addition to the member-only menu. I ordered 300g of udon with chicken tempura topping. The udon had a firm texture and was delicious as always. The chicken tempura was juicy. The Soboro Don had a rich egg yolk on top of rice, with flavorful minced meat. The combination of rice, egg, and minced meat was really tasty. It's a shame that it's only available for a limited time.

Partner's hometown has a famous restaurant in Terada-cho, so we decided to visit there this time. We arrived at 11:05 AM. There were 3 groups at the counter and 2 groups at the tables. The place was already quite busy. We were seated at a table since there were only two of us. The weather was extremely hot and humid that day, and we were sweating just standing there. The fact that the restaurant was already full shortly after opening made us realize that it was indeed a popular spot. I always prefer cold udon dishes, so I ordered the small portion of bukkake udon (-50 yen). My partner, who is open to trying different foods, was informed that curry udon seemed to be a signature dish here. However, due to the heat, my partner ended up ordering the same as me, with an additional topping of two pieces of tempura. After about 5 minutes, dishes started to be served to each table, and the spicy aroma of curry filled the air. It took around 10 minutes for our orders to arrive. The presentation was beautiful. Let's dig in. Oh wow, this is... so firm. I like my noodles to have a good bite, but these are extremely hard. My partner also commented, "It's so tough. Did they overcook it? It's hard to eat. Is this for real?" I had the small portion of bukkake udon, but it seemed like there was not enough broth. I added some tenkasu from the condiment holder on the table to change the flavor. The tempura was tender and flavorful, with a strong hint of ginger. It was delicious. Not exaggerating, the firmness of the noodles made my jaw ache. Despite ordering a small portion, which is 300g, I couldn't finish it. My partner also left some, struggling with the texture and portion size. The broth had a nice flavor. It seemed that the firmness of the noodles did not suit the two of us at the table. My partner mentioned that if we ever come back, he would like to try the curry dishes that other tables had ordered. As for me, I might try a warm udon dish next time to experience a different texture. The firmness of the noodles was off the charts. If you enjoy that, definitely give it a try. There were some changes in the menu, and this time I ordered TKU. The yolk had a rich color as seen in the photo, and the udon had a smooth texture. I ordered a medium size, and it disappeared quickly in my stomach. It's recommended for those who prefer a refreshing taste in this hot weather!

Chicken tempura curry udon, small portion, 1240 yen. The chicken tempura was more like fried chicken. It was very filling, and it even came with rice, so I ended up eating it as curry rice at the end. It was so delicious that I felt it was the best when it comes to curry udon.

In summer, I crave for BBQ and spicy food... Am I the only one? lol On this day, I really wanted to eat curry udon, so I came to this restaurant that I enjoyed last time. "Gokuraku Udon Ah-MEN" in Tamatsukuri is a sister store... By the way, I recently visited the sister store "Udon Izakaya Edo Bori" in Higobashi, but I'll review that another time! Well, who knows when that will be lol I thought it might be crowded on a Sunday visit, but maybe because of the scorching heat, I was able to enter smoothly. Anyway, it's hot so I ordered a beer... The can Dry was a bit... well, quite disappointing lol The menu seems to show that the most popular item is the chicken egg curry udon, but I learned from my last visit that the regular curry udon is the best, so I stuck to my original choice and ordered the regular size (400g) curry udon. Also, please add chicken tempura and fish cake tempura on the side ♡ The curry udon, with a well-seasoned and slightly spicy taste, is really delicious (*゚∀゚*) The thick udon noodles are chewy and have a good firmness, and they blend well with the broth. Yes, it's been a while since I had curry udon, but it was still delicious!! There are different types of curry udon, but personally, I prefer the ones that are moderately spicy and have a strong broth ♡ Teradacho is not an area I often visit, but when I feel like satisfying my curry udon craving, I'll come back here again. I wanted to try the curry udon, but on a hot day, I went for the cold noodles! I added tempura chicken and a half-cooked egg, and the firm noodles had a strong presence. It was a bit crowded, so there was a slight delay in serving, but even with a medium portion, the volume was hyper. Still, I managed to swallow it all in no time! The best moment is irresistible. I went to Gokuraku Udon Ah-Men in Terada-cho, Osaka. This restaurant is famous for serving large portions of udon. The most striking thing inside the store is the sign showing the amount of udon you can order. The regular portion is equivalent to two servings. If you finish a 1kg portion, you will receive a certificate, and the next time you visit, you can order a 1.2kg portion for the same price. If you finish that, you can then order a 1.4kg portion, increasing by 200g each time. It's interesting that if you can't finish your meal, they will take away the certificate. I ordered the famous Toriten Chicken Egg Curry Udon in the regular portion size, Toriten Zaru Udon, and Bukkake Udon. The udon was chewy and had a great texture. I found the system here quite interesting and educational! Thank you for the meal!

Saturday at 7pm with no wait. There were 3 groups inside and 1 person at the counter. Many families were there. The exterior didn't look very inviting, and if I didn't know the reviews, I might not have gone in. The banners, laminated food photos, and fonts used on the signs didn't give off a vibe of delicious food. Since it was my first time, I was looking for something simple and basic, but the menu was full of unique items like curry udon, chicken and egg over rice, and keema mixed rice. It seemed like the "Chicken Tempura, Chicken and Egg Curry Udon" was a popular and special dish, so I ordered that for 1,280 yen. I chose the small portion of noodles (300g, with a 50 yen discount). *Regular portion is 400g, medium is 500g (both free upgrades), and large is 800g (with a 120 yen upcharge)! Plus, you can get free rice (and unlimited refills)! This service would make sports club students happy. The egg over rice was covered in sauce, almost to the brim, and I couldn't see the udon noodles. The broth flavor was hard to distinguish with the curry, but the richness from the plenty of eggs was noticeable. However, it was piping hot, so I couldn't really taste much at first. The udon was delicious, a mix of Sanuki-style and Osaka-style udon. Thick with a good chew, but still soft and elastic. It had a strong umami flavor, although it was overshadowed by the egg and curry. The curry was spicier than I expected, without any powdery or oily texture, just a light Japanese-style curry. It definitely makes you want to pour it over rice and eat. The tempura chikuwa and chicken were both crispy and tasty. They must fry them to order, as there was no leftover oil taste, and they stayed crunchy. In addition to the large portions and free rice, the variety of unique menu items showed their effort to provide a special dining experience. They even provided paper aprons and a lens cleaner for glasses, which I thought was very thoughtful. The udon itself was delicious, so next time I want to try a simple udon dish. I will definitely visit again.

It was hot outside, but I decided to go for the famous chicken tempura curry udon, which is known for its generous portion. The large size of the chicken tempura and the thick udon noodles make for a perfect combination! I added rice and tempura crumbs at the end, and enjoyed the curry until the last bite!

You can increase the amount of udon for free up to 500g, normally it is 400g. The udon has a good firm texture, and the topping of fish cake and fried chicken is delicious! It comes with a small serving of rice and grated ginger for a tasty change. I enjoyed it and left feeling satisfied with a full stomach. Please try it once!

The noodles were the regular size at 400g, and I declined the free rice that came with it. The dish was served in about 10 minutes, featuring firm noodles, a gentle curry broth, and a delicious egg topping. I made my first visit to Gokuraku Udon Ah-men in Teradacho, Osaka. On this humid day during the rainy season, I was craving cold udon! I ordered the recommended Bamboo Chicken Tamabukkake (920 yen). It came with crispy bamboo shoot tempura, tender and juicy chicken tempura, grated daikon radish, and a half boiled egg - a luxurious combination that did not disappoint. The thick noodles had a satisfying chewiness, and surprisingly, the default serving size was 400g, but I managed to finish it all. The energetic and friendly service from the staff lifted my spirits on this gloomy day. They even have secret menu items that only frequent customers know about, which adds to the fun. I understand why this place is popular. Just thought I'd share. Thank you very much.
