Today, I went to a yakiniku restaurant that also serves lunch. I decided to try it out since I was nearby. The restaurant only has counter seats and the seating capacity is not very large. Customers ranged from individuals to groups. It seemed like many of the customers were working nearby. The age range was diverse, with a lot of female customers. I ordered the "Grilled Beef Tongue with Grated Yam Set Meal." There were three lunch options, and I chose beef tongue based on my mood. The set meal also came with dessert. The beef tongue had a great texture and flavor, especially with the smoky taste from being grilled. They provided three different sauces - ponzu, salt, and a special moon-viewing sauce - so you could enjoy different flavors. You can also add the grated yam to your rice whenever you like. I think they cooked the rice in a traditional pot, which added to the overall experience. The grapefruit jelly dessert was refreshing and the perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciated the paper apron provided. Overall, it was a delicious meal. Thank you for the meal.

I had heard that the dinner was delicious, so I went with high expectations for lunch as well. I chose the curry over the beef bento. First, I had a marinated vegetable salad. It was light and easy to eat, not too vinegary. Then came the consommé soup. It had a strong beef flavor and a lot of croutons, almost like potato chip consommé (lol). Grilled vegetables and rice cooked in a pot were served, along with a separate dish of curry roux. The curry was sweet and European-style. The sweet and tender beef served with the rice was delicious! That alone made me want to eat more rice (lol). The rice wasn't freshly cooked, which was a bit disappointing, but it was still delicious cooked in a pot. Thank you for the meal. The meat was delicious. Curry at [Akatan].

Fukuoka seems to have suddenly become popular for its unique beef tongue dishes such as beef tongue shabu-shabu and grilled beef tongue, similar to Sendai. What's interesting is that many restaurants in Fukuoka mainly use Japanese beef instead of imported American beef. I remember that beef tongue steak, beef skirt steak, and liver sashimi have always been popular dishes at Fukuoka's food stalls. As for "Akatan" here, it is a yakiniku restaurant where you can enjoy beef tongue and lean meat cooked on a built-in grill at the counter. We started with the specialty dish called "Rock Tan" and enjoyed various types of lean meat. The atmosphere is great and it's perfect for small group gatherings with lots of conversation topics. First visit. Lunch seems to be curry only option. Priced at 1,500 yen. Only counter seats available, with a special iron pot on display. The rice served with the curry is also cooked in this pot. The curry is not your average curry, with tender pieces of beef simmered separately. This curry is something special. I underestimated it as just curry for a lunch at a yakiniku restaurant, but it was worth the price, a curry with attention to detail. The soup and salad were also quite good. Ice cream was included as well. Thank you for the meal.

The Lotan is delicious. It's definitely different when it's rare inside. I like thick cuts. It's been a while since I chose the miso flavor on the top mino. It goes well with beer. Ordering the heart and tsumami sashimi was a good choice. The tsumami sashimi had a good texture and some fatty parts, which was nice. The heart had no smell and was so thick and irresistible. The photo of the silver sushi was taken at a lucky timing. Well, something to look forward to next time.

I finally got to visit the new restaurant that opened up. It's a yakiniku place with only a counter, usually run by female staff but this time a male server was in charge as the female owner was off. I ordered the specialty dish, Rock Tan (4378 yen), which came in a chunk and was grilled and sliced by the server. It was cooked rare and very tender, absolutely delicious. I also tried other items but the Rock Tan left the biggest impression. This place is not for those looking to eat a lot of meat or try various cuts. It's more suited for those who enjoy slowly savoring delicious food and drinks. I think it's best for a date or a relaxed meal.

I recently visited a popular yakiniku restaurant in Ura-Tenjin. They specialize in delicious lean meat. I tried their opening course, which was fantastic. The counter was spacious and great for conversation. The meat sashimi was my favorite, especially the crunchy white meat. The lean meat sushi was thick and tasty. The tongue was amazing. The marbled harami with sauce was also delicious. I would like to see some more variety in the soup and curry for the finish. Overall, I was very satisfied and will definitely visit again. Introducing a new restaurant that opened on November 29, 2022, where you can enjoy delicious meat dishes centered around lean meat and beef tongue. Yakiniku Akatan is located at 5-24-37 JOE Building 105, Watanabe-dori, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. They are currently open only for dinner, with plans to offer lunch and takeout options starting next spring. This is a new concept from the popular "Ginshari Yakiniku Chokkyu" in Shirogane, operated by the Wac Corporation which runs a total of 7 restaurants. I visited on the opening day and was impressed by the stylish and bright interior, with a large charcoal grill at each table. The menu offers a variety of tempting options such as Rock Tan, Ippon Tan tasting set, Thick-cut lean meat, Harami platter, Wagyu grilled sirloin, meat sashimi, and unique dishes like meat sushi and beef tongue curry. I ordered the special opening course which allowed me to taste a variety of delicious items. The appetizers included a Kimchi and Namul platter, meat sashimi platter, meat sushi with seaweed, and Wagyu tartare style. Each dish was incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. The highlight was the Wagyu tartare style dish served in a crispy cone with ice cream, egg yolk, and a side of shredded yam and green onion. It was a unique and enjoyable dish that I would love to try again. The grilled meat platter included thick-cut beef tongue, Harami, and Lamp. The beef tongue was sliced and served with plum paste and wasabi, while the Harami was seasoned with truffle salt, and the Lamp was enjoyed with wasabi. All the meats were of excellent quality and tasted fantastic, although I would like to revisit to perfect the grilling technique. The meal ended with a delicious Wagyu meatball soup, which was a perfect palate cleanser. Overall, my experience at Yakiniku Akatan was delightful, and I look forward to returning for more delicious meat dishes.
