I had passed by this shop, Niji no Hotoke, a few times and was curious about it. I ordered a tamago (egg) sandwich to go, which they prepared freshly and it took about 15 minutes. Since there were no other customers at 2 pm, I waited comfortably at a table. The cheerful staff cooked for me and when I got home and tried it, it was delicious. The sandwich had a well-balanced dashi flavor, the toast was lightly toasted, and the mayo and a hint of mustard matched perfectly. This is a must-try dish.

If there is a tamago sand, I tend to order it right away. The top photo often features it. The same goes for pancakes, but they start making it after you order, so it takes time but it's piping hot. In the second video, they are moving the tamago sand around a lot, but it's just because it's hot. After they place it down, their hands are really red. The special feature is that the bread is spread with mayonnaise and the slippery tamago has a really nice smell of Japanese-style dashi. It's delicious! There are various dashi-maki dishes, so I would like to try others as well. I'm really interested in the morning set with onigiri, dashi-maki side dish, and miso soup for 800 yen. Everyone, please come and try it out. ~~

I visited for the first time. It seems like a shop specializing in egg sandwiches. The couple who run the shop seemed to be managing it together. I ordered the daily special, which was a baked curry. It was like a curry rice dish, and although it wasn't spicy, the hot curry was good for getting through the hot summer. When mixed with the egg, it had a nice flavor with a mild spiciness. I finished it all while blowing on it. With coffee included, the price of 980 yen was reasonable.

About 3 minutes from Shitennoji-mae Yuhigaoka Station on the Osaka Metro, there is an old-fashioned café along the Tanimachi Street. The menu that was featured on TV seems to be the Thick Tamagoyaki Sandwich for 800 yen. I ordered it with a hot coffee for 300 yen, totaling 1,100 yen. You can hear the sound of the eggs being cooked. In less than 10 minutes, the sandwich is ready. The Thick Tamagoyaki Sandwich is sandwiched between toasted bread. Surprisingly, Wakame seaweed soup is also included. Maybe I didn't need the drink after all? The coffee has a rich and bitter taste with a mild acidity, a good blend balance. The Thick Tamagoyaki Sandwich is cut into 4 pieces, each wrapped in paper for easy eating. Be careful as the filling is slippery. The thick tamagoyaki is made with dashi and the bread is spread with mayonnaise, making it a bit tricky to eat due to its slippery texture. It is hot and flavorful with a strong dashi taste, delicious.

I have passed by this shop a few times before and was interested in trying it out after reading an article by MyRebi. The interior of the shop has 6 two-seater tables and a single-seater table attached to the wall, with a total of 13 seats. It is run by a man and a woman. The shop felt smaller than I expected from looking at photos online. It is rare to find a rice ball cafe or a cafe with breakfast service that includes rice dishes, but I have been to a few before. However, it is quite unusual for a coffee shop to offer a breakfast service with rice dishes, which makes this place stand out. The rolled omelette was served hot, as if it was freshly made or reheated. The rice ball was made with freshly cooked rice and did not contain any fillings, but the deliciousness of it made me feel like fillings would have been unnecessary. I enjoyed the combination of rice and seaweed in the rice ball, and the side dish, which was similar to the ingredients of oyakodon, was reasonably priced. Additionally, the fact that coffee was included in the set for 600 yen made it a very good deal.

I made a reservation and had lunch at 11:00❣️ The interior of the restaurant was smaller than I expected... 百花 lunch❣️ Mini kaiseki❣️ It was quite elaborate and I was happy about it (❁ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈) It started with a whitefish appetizer... with decorative cuts of sudachi peel❣️ The sashimi was shaped like butterflies and flowers❣️ There were various small dishes to enjoy❣️ The daikon and carrot namasu with flower cuts, and the sweet potato kinton with persimmon were impressive❣️ You could catch a glimpse of the chef's skills❣️ The steamed dish with ankake was a bit mochi-like... hmmm. I would be extremely happy with a lotus root manju☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ The taste of the sea bream soup was rich... and I could pay with PayPay and get a 20% cash back... thank you~☺︎☺︎ I will definitely visit again❣️

This time, I was taken to the cafe by an acquaintance for the second time. I had the egg sandwich for breakfast last time and it was so delicious that I became hooked! Speaking of Cafe Hyakka, it sounds like a name that suggests a riot of flowers. It reminds me of the final resting place of my favorite Sanada Yukimura. It seems like there is some kind of connection with this cafe! The atmosphere of the cafe is also nice, so I like it! When I entered the cafe, the cheerful owner's wife greeted me with "Welcome!" and the owner himself also said "Welcome!" with a smile on his face. I decided to have lunch, so I ordered the Western lunch (oyster fry) and the Hyakka salad. Personally, I wanted to eat macaroni gratin, baked curry, or egg sandwich, but I thought ordering those might be frowned upon by the cafe, so I went with the daily lunch set! The oyster fry came with tartar sauce and Worcestershire sauce, and it was so delicious that I couldn't help but eat quickly and quietly... like when eating crab... The rice was also delicious, so I ate quickly without saying a word. The Hyakka salad arrived a little late because I ordered it after the lunch set, and it was so big that other customers were all looking at it! The salad had meat, tofu, and other ingredients that reminded me of a riot of flowers, and it was served with a delicious original dressing. Finally, I had an iced coffee and returned home saying "It was delicious!" By the way, I asked the staff at my place to make a bento for me. When I brought it back, everyone praised it as more delicious than the usual homemade bento place nearby! (I'm sorry to the bento shop) It seemed to be a tonkatsu bento! I forgot to take a picture of it! My staff are also picky eaters, but they all praised the taste! Next time, I plan to try the breakfast rice balls or udon! But I need to go on a diet... I feel like I can't control myself anymore! (^_^;)

This is another place that I kind of liked passing by (lol). I had visited this place before with "Nijinohoto" to eat curry and on our way back, I thought, "I might like this place too." This time, I had to buy an amulet at Shitennoji Temple, so a friend and I visited. The sign said they would be closed for 6 days starting tomorrow, despite it being a holiday. We were the only customers, probably because it was "Anahole" day. I vaguely remembered from online reviews that the egg sandwich was delicious, but I was surprised to see a variety of light meal options. They even had a daily special set meal. Today's was the "Oyster Fry Set." They also had a "Mini Kaiseki 1900 yen" that required a reservation, so I realized it's not just a cafe. After some contemplation, we decided on the most popular "Egg Sandwich" and the chef's recommended new menu item, the "Mackerel Sandwich." Both were 800 yen each. The egg sandwich was my first time trying it, and I could understand why it's so popular. Each egg was neatly wrapped in oil paper, making it easy to eat. It's a Japanese-style sandwich with thick rolled omelette. When you bite into it, the broth oozes out. It's clear that they take care in their preparation. The mackerel sandwich was simple with half a mackerel, lettuce, and pickles. The thick daikon sticks added a nice touch, balancing the richness of the mackerel. Of course, their blend coffee for 500 yen was also delicious. The small, somewhat old-fashioned cafe had a nice atmosphere. The retro-style plaster walls and wooden pillars and floors created a nice balance. Since we had the place to ourselves today, we could fully enjoy the atmosphere. I've certified it as my favorite cafe. I'll definitely come back even if it's just for coffee.

I ordered the Morning D set with onigiri. It was delicious with just the right amount of salt. However, the whole place is smoking permitted, so you can immediately smell cigarette smoke when you enter. If you don't like smoke, this place may not be for you. The coffee had a mild taste that I enjoyed.

We visited the restaurant with 6 staff members. We were worried if we could enter the restaurant, but since there were only 3 family members inside, we were allowed in. However, as we entered, other customers who were trying to come in saw us and hesitated, eventually leaving. It might have been tough if there were 6 middle-aged men! We enjoyed the morning set, with fluffy and creamy rolled omelette sandwiches that everyone found delicious. We also had iced coffee, salad, consomme soup, and pineapple, making for a satisfying morning meal. Despite being full, we couldn't resist ordering the udon and rice ball morning sets, which turned out to be just as tasty. The rice balls were light and fluffy with a perfect amount of salt, while the udon had a flavorful broth and chewy noodles. We all shared a pot of Earl Grey tea with these dishes, which we also found delicious. It was a carb-filled morning feast that left us feeling ready to take on the day! As we left, the owner and his wife bid us farewell. Another day that we can tackle with energy!

After visiting Isshin-ji Temple, two of us stopped by this cafe for the first time for breakfast. The cafe has a cozy atmosphere with only 6 two-seater tables. We ordered Morning Set B for ¥700 which included tamagoyaki sandwich, salad, soup, and coffee. There is also Morning Set C for ¥750 which comes with French toast, coffee, and fruits. The tamagoyaki sandwich was delicious with fluffy texture. You can also get the tamagoyaki sandwich for takeout, but it is not toasted. They also offer bento boxes for takeout and a mini kaiseki meal for ¥1500 with advance reservation.

I visited "Cafe Hyakka" located near Osaka Shitennoji-mae Yuhigaoka Station. It was a cute cafe I found while strolling around the Shitennoji area on a Sunday afternoon. The interior had small tables and a kitchen in the back. The place was filled with elderly customers. I ordered the Macaroni Gratin with soup (950 yen) and Banana Juice (700 yen), while my husband ordered the Thick Tamagoyaki Sandwich with soup (800 yen) and Coffee (set price 300 yen). The wait time was about 10 minutes. The gratin was very hot and creamy, with macaroni, spinach, ham, and a green homemade Tabasco sauce that added a spicy kick. The tamagoyaki sandwich had a fluffy and juicy tamagoyaki omelette sandwiched between crispy bread with plenty of mayonnaise. Each sandwich was wrapped in paper, making it a bit difficult to eat. The banana juice was naturally sweet and delicious. It was a great meal. Thank you for the food.

After visiting the Bon festival, I stopped by for the Morning Set for 550 yen. I hadn't had breakfast, so I was hoping to just have a light toast, but then it arrived on a tray! I thought I would start with the salad, but the dressing was unexpectedly delicious - I believe it's homemade and it's refreshing without being too sour. The soup I casually drank also had a strong vegetable base. The toast came with a whole pack of butter! And there was plenty of iced coffee afterwards. Ah, I'm so full now. When I checked the menu again, I worried about the price - Morning Set for 550 yen, and coffee alone for 500 yen... Only a 50 yen difference... What a deal! The French toast at the neighboring table looked delicious, and the rice ball Morning Set with the scent of seaweed and rice was tempting too! Later I found out that the restaurant is run by a former Japanese cuisine chef, and it all made sense. I'm looking forward to more enjoyable visits after paying my respects. (Note: There are some points to improve, like closing the entrance door quietly and the smoking area, but overall it's a good restaurant.)

☆From Tennoji to Shitennoji on a rainy Wednesday at the end of April, I went to see the "Wood x Buddhist Statues" exhibition at the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts (until June 4th)! On the way back, I headed towards Shitennoji and had lunch at this restaurant. The restaurant has a cute and clean exterior facing Tanimachi-suji. Inside, there are 6 tables for two people that can be rearranged depending on the number of guests. Around noon, there were salarymen dining, with one person sitting at the farthest table, so I chose a seat by the window near the entrance. Later on, two women arrived and by the time I left, another two women came in. The lunch options change daily between Western and Japanese cuisine. On that day, the Western option was oyster fry, and the Japanese option was simmered red snapper, which I chose. The dishes arrived steaming hot, making me feel warm and happy. The red snapper was large and impressive, served with a generous portion of thick lotus root, green beans, and shredded ginger. The side dish was a flavorful chicken and egg stew. The amount of food was more than enough. Coffee was also included, making it a satisfying lunch. The chef here used to work in Japanese cuisine, so I'd like to try their weekend lunch menu next time, which seems more like a proper dining experience. Thank you for the delicious meal!
