Hidden pizza battleground, Nakazaki-cho area. La Baracca, Sknizzo da Shigeo, La Pizza D'Oro, Bastone, Asso da Yamaguchi, and many other high-level pizza shops are gathered in this area. Today, I visited Pizzeria Da Chiro for the first time. The female owner makes authentic pizzas with carefully fermented dough and high-quality ingredients, baked in a Napoli wood-fired oven. The restaurant is located on the north side of Nakazaki-cho, within walking distance from Tenjinbashi-suji Rokuchome Station and Umeda/Nakatsu Station. The blue facade with an open terrace gives off a cheerful Southern Italian vibe. The spacious and casual interior has a counter with 9 seats, 3 tables for 2-4 people, and a large table for 6 people. There is also a private room in the back. The outdoor terrace has 6 seats and is pet-friendly. The restaurant is run by a female chef and another staff member. It's recommended to visit when you have plenty of time as they may be busy serving the terrace seats. Lunch is available on weekends as well (closed on Mondays), from 11:30 to 16:00 (please check for the latest information). Lunch menu (all prices include tax): - Pizza (single 1,200 yen, with appetizer and dessert 1,650 yen, half size 700 yen): Margherita, Quattro Formaggi (add honey +100 yen), Romana (Margherita + anchovy), Mushroom Madness, Today's Pizza with Carbonara and half-boiled egg - Pasta (single 1,000 yen, with appetizer, focaccia, and dessert 1,400 yen): Shirasu and rapeseed pepperoncino, Pork shoulder loin and steamed cabbage ragout - Limited to 10 servings speed menu (within 8 minutes): Oven-baked cheese hamburger 1,100 yen (with mini salad, focaccia, and dessert) - Main (single 1,400 yen, with appetizer, focaccia, and dessert 1,650 yen): Black pork cheek simmer Other options include focaccia sandwiches, sausages, craft beer, wine, cocktails, and other alcoholic beverages. I ordered a single pizza this time. While the half & half service is not available, you can order a half-size pizza. I chose the Romana pizza topped with tomato sauce. The pizza arrived in about 10 minutes, with a nice crispy crust and a tempting aroma. The dough is carefully fermented by the owner, bringing out the sweetness, umami, and wheat fragrance. The dough has a slightly less chewy and fluffy texture overall, with the center being thin and drooping due to the weight of the toppings. The crust is crispy and flavorful, with a nice wheaty taste and a balanced saltiness. The tomato sauce is light and natural, made with ripe San Marzano tomatoes from Italy with only added salt. The thick and chewy mozzarella is made from fresh, high-quality Hokkaido milk. The basil adds a nice flavor, and the anchovy paste, creamy cheese, and tangy tomato sauce create a perfect harmony with the crispy dough. Romana pizza is always a well-balanced choice.
