On Sunday night at Hakata Station Chikushi exit, most of the shops were closed, but one was open so we decided to go in for a third round! It was my first time hearing about and trying bonito belly. I thought it would have a more unique smell, but it didn't. It had a texture similar to pork harami. The three types of whale were nostalgic! Although in the past, we were only fed whale tail. Thank you for a fun time until late at night.

I had lunch at a restaurant near the Chikushi exit of Hakata Station and decided to try the daily grilled fish set meal for 880 yen, which happened to be mackerel. It was just past 1 pm on a weekday and although the lunch rush seemed to be over, there were still many customers who appeared to be office workers. I have been to this place for drinks in the evening a few times, but this was my first time having lunch here. The lunch menu from a place known for serving delicious fish in the evening turned out to be both affordable and tasty. The grilled fish set meal arrived in about 5 minutes, and it was satisfyingly delicious with a good portion size.

I had lunch. I chose the most popular lunch option, the "Chef's Choice Seafood Bowl". The sashimi included sea bream, salmon, tuna, octopus, and one slice of tuna tataki each. Chef's Choice Seafood Bowl (lunch) ¥800 Extra rice +¥50. March 18, 2023.

Yesterday's lunch, oh boy, I underestimated it. It's a nationwide chain restaurant that I could go to anytime, and I had passed by it many times without giving it a second thought. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and the menu is surprisingly extensive. The focus seems to be on seafood dishes with good value for money. I was undecided on what to order, but ended up trying the mackerel cutlet set meal. Mackerel is usually served grilled with salt or in miso, but this time it came as a fried cutlet. It's a menu item that seems common but I had never tried before. I ate it in tonkatsu style with tonkatsu sauce and Japanese hot mustard, and it was incredibly delicious! The miso soup had cabbage in it, which was also tasty. The rice portion was quite generous as well. They also offer a variety of seafood bowls besides set meals, and I noticed they are open for lunch on weekends too. I think I'll make it a regular spot to visit. Thank you for the meal.

This is an izakaya located at Hakata Station Chikushi Exit. It is on the first floor of the building, but all the upper floors are also izakayas. There is a counter, making it easy for even one person to use. Overall, it is reasonably priced and has a wide variety of menu options. I had a draft beer, grilled scallops, and seafood bowl, and they were all delicious.

Near Hakata Station, close to Chikushi Exit, is the 24-hour izakaya "Mekiki no Ginji." It's a nationwide chain, and although I've seen it near various stations, this was my first visit. I went with two colleagues, and since it was still early, there weren't many customers. We chose a table with a sunken kotatsu, and there was a large TV as well. We started with a toast of draft beer to shake off the stress from our tough day at work. For snacks, we had the delicious "Grilled Yellowtail Collar," a generous portion with plenty of meat. The "Assorted Yakitori" was flavorful with a tasty sauce. The "Saba in Egg Omelette" was a hit, pairing well with the popular saba in water. The "Mapo Tofu" had tender beef and soft tofu in a sweet sauce. The "Deep-Fried Octopus" had a crunchy texture that we enjoyed. I had a "Hoppy" drink, while my colleagues tried "Sake," which came with ice that made it refreshing. It was a great way to unwind and destress. Thank you for the delicious meal. I'll definitely visit again when I'm in another town.

I had lunch and ordered the Salmon Ikura Oyako Don with extra rice (+¥50). Despite paying for extra rice, my portion looked smaller than my companion's regular size. It was only after the second time that I finally received the larger portion I had asked for.

I searched for a restaurant starting at 11 pm, so I ended up going to a 24-hour place. However, there were few staff members, service for drinks and food was slow, and upon closer inspection, the cleanliness was lacking. I will never go back again!

This is a 24-hour izakaya restaurant near the Chikushi exit of Hakata Station, part of the Monteroza group. I arrived at Hakata Station about 30 minutes before the industry sports day event at the Hakata Sports Center, so I decided to have breakfast around the station. There was a 24-hour izakaya near the Chikushi exit, so I had breakfast there. Since it was around 8 am, there were still seats available inside the restaurant. I was dining alone, so I sat at the counter. They start serving set meals from 5 am, so I ordered the Miso-Stewed Mackerel Set Meal. After a short wait, the 700 yen Miso-Stewed Mackerel Set Meal was ready. The miso soup that came with the set was slightly larger than usual. The side dish was a burdock root salad with mayonnaise. The well-cooked Miso-Stewed Mackerel was a perfect dish for breakfast. The restaurant is located along the road that extends from Chikushi Street to the traffic light in front of the Joint Government Building. I was taken to a restaurant that my acquaintance has been frequenting lately. They said it is open 24 hours, which is convenient. They even serve breakfast. I was intrigued by the menu item, whale meat. It's not something you see often in chain restaurants, so I decided to order the rare whale steak. It wasn't very filling, but I enjoyed the taste. The restaurant also had a good selection of fish dishes, as expected from its name. They even had Hoppy as a drink option. The prices were reasonable (I later found out it was Monterosa), so it's a place you can casually visit.

I stayed overnight in Hakata for work the next morning, and was looking for breakfast. I ended up eating my groceries as a late-night snack, so I needed to find a place for breakfast. I wanted a beef bowl place, but they were all on the Hakata side. I needed a place on the Chikushi side that was open 24 hours. That's when I found "Me-kiki no Ginji". Although I had heard of it since it opened in Chikusa in November 2015, I never had the chance to visit in the past year and a half. It's also part of the Izakaya Monterosa group, so I never thought I would use it in Hakata. I checked out of the hotel around 5:30 in the morning. I noticed that the neighboring "Yayoi-ken" was also open 24 hours, but they didn't have a breakfast menu posted, so I decided to go to Ginji. The place was a bit of a walk and looked like an izakaya. Inside, there were only two staff members chatting in casual clothes. I ignored their stares and entered the restaurant. The menu was mainly seafood bowls for breakfast, with the exception of the "Me-kiki no Gyudon" for 400 yen. The breakfast set menu was also available, but it wasn't advertised. After a 5-minute wait, the "Me-kiki no Gyudon" was served. It had a good aroma and was surprisingly generous with rice. It was a bit on the sweet side, but the broth made up for it. Overall, it was decent for 400 yen. I probably won't visit again, but it filled me up. 72 points.

This restaurant is open 24 hours a day and is part of the Monterosa Group. I was a bit skeptical about the need for a 24-hour izakaya, but decided to visit one morning before work since they also offer a morning menu. I arrived around 7:30 am when it was still dark. The morning menu is available from 5:00 am, but you can also order from the regular "Grand Menu" at that time, including alcoholic beverages. I sat at the counter and ordered the Sausage Egg Morning Set for 480 yen tax included. For the side dish, I chose natto from options like grated yam, cold tofu, and natto. I wanted a raw egg, so I asked a female staff member if it was possible to add it. Although it wasn't on the menu, she said it could be added for an additional 54 yen. Then she suggested that since the Sausage Egg comes with 2 eggs, one could be made into a fried egg and the other into a raw egg at no extra charge. I happily agreed to that. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much in terms of taste for this breakfast, but it filled me up just fine. I was also pleased that the miso soup was seaweed-based. It had been a while since I had Tamago Kake Gohan (raw egg over rice) too. With the satisfying meal, I headed to work. Thank you for the meal.

On Sunday, December 18th, around 2:30 pm, I visited the restaurant for lunch. I ordered the following:
- Maguro Nisshoku Don (Tuna Two-Color Bowl) for ¥620 with extra rice for ¥50
- Gyoshu Udon (Fisherman's Udon) for ¥180
Total: ¥850
The Maguro Nisshoku Don had six pieces of tuna and four pieces of albacore tuna, served on a bed of rice with tuna flakes and sesame. The Gyoshu Udon came in hot or cold options, with a broth that was slightly sweet, and topped with kelp and green onions. Both dishes came with miso soup, with today's option being tororo kelp and green onions.
The restaurant seems to have different menus for breakfast, lunch, and other times. They were kind enough to accommodate my lunch order even though it was past the lunch hours. The Maguro Nisshoku Don was flavorful, with the tuna marinated in soy sauce adding a unique texture. The Maguro Tataki was also delicious, especially with the three types of soy sauce available on the table.
I also ordered a Cassis Orange drink for ¥430 (¥398 before tax), bringing the total to ¥1200. Although I rarely visit izakayas or drink alcohol, the seafood options on the menu caught my attention. The lunch menu had several bowl options with miso soup, and I enjoyed my meal.
Overall, the restaurant seems to have a variety of options available throughout the day, including a tempting "Tuna Tataki and Seafood Grand Menu" and even a whale menu. It's impressive that they are open 24 hours, but I can imagine it must be challenging for the staff. Keep up the good work!
