On August 22, 2023 (Tuesday), I had lunch with my partner who was very hungry and noisy about it. We decided to go to the "Komugiya Hakozaki" restaurant. The place was quite spacious. We ordered by purchasing meal tickets.
- The Meat and Burdock Tempura Udon had a sweet broth. The noodles were soft. The tempura absorbed the broth and became soft. The meat didn't stand out much.
- The sweet Inari sushi was delicious.
- My partner enjoyed various toppings.
Overall, our hunger was satisfied and my partner finally calmed down. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the restaurant after a long time at around 7 pm, but it was quite empty inside. Right now, they don't have shichimi (seven spice blend) or yuzu kosho (citrus pepper paste) on the tables. You buy a food ticket first and then bring it to your table yourself. I mixed shichimi, yuzu kosho, and coarse ground chili pepper together. My wife brought the food to our table. I had meat udon and chicken onigiri. I should have gotten a large serving of udon instead of the onigiri. But the chicken onigiri was pretty tasty. It felt a bit unsatisfying, though. I didn't end up feeling full.

In Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City, there is a wheat treatment along Route 3. I am aiming to conquer all the menu items haha. The oboro udon is around 250 yen. It seems like in the past, they had longer opening hours and bigger portions. The oboro seaweed was unexpectedly plentiful and quite delicious.

I visited around 11:30 am on a weekday. It was quite empty, probably because it was still early. I ordered the tempura udon, and it came out quickly. It's self-service, so while I was getting water, my order was ready. They say Hakata udon lacks firmness, but this one was smooth and had just the right amount of firmness. It had a soft-boiled egg in it, and it was delicious.

I had lunch there. It had been about a year since I last visited, and the system had changed significantly. They now have a ticket machine, where you purchase your meal and then wait at the counter for your order. The prices are still very reasonable. I ordered the Tempura Burdock Udon Set (with 2 Chicken Rice Balls) for ¥500, added meat topping for ¥140, and upgraded to a large udon for an extra ¥110.

A popular restaurant where you can enjoy a seafood bowl with fresh sashimi overflowing from the bowl for less than 1,000 yen, but unfortunately, they were sold out when visited after lunchtime. Instead, a visit was made to a udon restaurant called "Kamaage Udon Komachi," known for their delicious udon noodles. The self-service restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and the udon noodles were chewy and soft, with a generous portion. Toppings like green onions and tempura shrimp were added, enhancing the flavor. The udon noodles paired well with the savory broth made from bonito and kelp. A unique touch was the option to add coarse ground chili pepper for an extra kick. Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience in Fukuoka.

Domestically produced wheat udon. Cheap. Delicious. The broth is like school cafeteria style, but the taste is good. I could come here every day. Hakata udon is delicious. Addictive. The neighboring Hakata ramen also seems very affordable so I have to go there someday... For now, the vegetable tempura was very satisfying! The coarsely ground ginger was also amazing.

I was born in Kagawa Prefecture and rarely eat (or can't eat) udon in other prefectures. Now that I live in Fukuoka, I decided to try udon, which is popular among the people in Fukuoka. I visited a chain restaurant near my house, which has the highest ratings among the same chain. Udon is unusually expensive outside of Kagawa Prefecture, but this place is relatively reasonable. I found it quite challenging to get used to the seated order and serving by the staff. I ordered kitsune udon and kashiwa onigiri. The kitsune udon came with three small triangular pieces of fried tofu on a separate plate. The noodles were a new experience for me - thinner and softer than I expected! I guess Fukuoka udon is like this everywhere. Well, you should try everything at least once in life. Thank you for the meal.

I've been busy with work every day since I got COVID, but lately it's been even busier and I think it's the busiest I've ever been. I haven't been able to update much, but my stomach still gets hungry, so I've accumulated some drafts. I had some delicious zaru udon the other day. It was so good! I didn't put ginger in it, but it was still great. Thank you for the meal!

For lunch, I had wakame udon, tempura, and onigiri. The udon here is just as delicious as the top three udon chains in Fukuoka. The noodles are unique and tasty. The soup is salty but delicious. One thing I always notice is that the self-serve water is good, but it's a bit lukewarm.

Location: Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City, Hakoizaki [Komugiya Hakoizaki Store] is located right behind the bus stop Aya Tatejingu along Route 3, next to Ramen Zen Hakoizaki Store. The parking lot is spacious. It is a non-smoking restaurant, but there is an ashtray in the corner of the building. I had business in this area and decided to stop by.
What I had: Large serving of plain udon for 238 yen. The dish consisted of noodles and soup only.
Impressions: Personally, I found the soup to be slightly thin, light, and easy to drink. The soup was served piping hot. The portion of noodles was quite generous. The texture of the noodles was a bit soft. The restaurant was quite busy during lunchtime on a day off.

I went to Komugiya for an early lunch before heading out for errands in the afternoon. I usually get the pumpkin tempura udon, but this time I decided to try the burdock tempura udon. It came with about six thin slices of burdock tempura, which were well-seasoned and delicious! It's nice to change things up and try something different once in a while. I finished the meal in about 5 minutes. It was delicious! I'm thinking of trying the meat udon next time.

On a cold day, there's nothing like hot noodles for lunch! So, as usual, I went to Komugiya. I sat across from an old man at the counter who was eating curry udon that smelled amazing, so I decided to get the same. The curry broth with fried tofu looked delicious. It really warmed me up after being so cold. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this restaurant about 10 years ago and I don't remember the taste at all. This time, I visited the Hakoasaki branch on Route 3 at night. There is also a ramen restaurant called "ZEN" on the premises. The parking lot is shared and very spacious, so you can feel safe parking even during lunchtime. The restaurant is very spacious with an equal number of table seats and tatami mat seats. There were chairs for children in the tatami area, so we sat there. Looking at the menu, I was surprised. Plain udon for only 150 yen? The special udon for 680 yen felt quite luxurious. This time I ordered the pork udon for 290 yen. The soup was mild and delicious (*^^*), but the broth was rich. The noodles were soft and about half the thickness of those from Makino Udon. The portion of noodles was about 80%. It made me feel nostalgic and relieved. I also ordered the curry udon for 290 yen. It wasn't very spicy, so it was okay for children. I shared it with my child, but I ended up eating most of it, oops. Unlike Makino Udon, it didn't fill me up too much (・_・). About an hour later, my daughter and I were saying, "I'm hungry," (laughs). The smaller portion of noodles might be suitable for dieting! Small Wheatya is also kind to your wallet. I wish there was one near my house. I will definitely visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by my usual wheat noodle shop on my way home after work ran late. It was my first visit this year. It was past 9 pm. Since the seating area was mostly empty, I sat at the counter. I ordered my usual "pumpkin tempura udon." It came out in a few minutes. The chewy Hakata udon noodles and the pumpkin tempura were a perfect combination for me. When I'm really hungry, I add meat or tempura to it, but when I'm tired, just the pumpkin tempura is the way to go. And the fact that it's less than 300 yen is also great! It's a high-quality restaurant with the best cost performance. I want to continue supporting this place this year. Thank you for the meal!

I visited my favorite udon restaurant, Komugi Jyazaki Honten, in Fukuoka. I was just looking to satisfy a small hunger after returning home, so I ordered my favorite "kabocha tempura udon" and inari sushi. The restaurant was not crowded, maybe because it was already past 10 pm, and my order arrived in less than 5 minutes! The udon came with four large pieces of kabocha tempura, which paired perfectly with the soft noodles. I was so happy to see this dish back on the menu after it was temporarily removed. I finished every last drop of the soup! Thank you for the delicious meal!

I decided to have a late lunch at "Kamayaki Udon Komugiya Hakozaiki Honten" located in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City, as I had just finished my activities in Fukuoka Prefecture. It was around 1:30 PM when I arrived, and the restaurant was not too crowded. I easily found a table and ordered the "Three-variety Udon" for 380 yen and "Kashiwa Onigiri" (two pieces) for 140 yen from the menu. The dishes were served promptly, and I received a bowl of udon with sliced burdock, wakame seaweed, and beef, as well as two kashiwa onigiri with pickled radish. The udon was delicious with a flavorful broth and chewy noodles, and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The kashiwa onigiri, although lightly seasoned, was also enjoyable. Overall, I had a really delicious meal and finished everything.

Many people have probably been to one of the following restaurants: Komugiya, Kokura Han, Namako Soba Gen, Hakataya, Hakataya Express, and Hakata Ramen Zenzai. All of these restaurants are part of the chain run by Showa Food Industry, which operates many value dining establishments. I recently visited Komugiya, which I had not been to in a while. With a part-time worker who eats heartily, it's quite a relief for my wallet. I ordered the burdock tempura udon with an extra topping of fried tofu, and added a chicken rice ball, all for less than a coin. The price was so reasonable and the noodles, which seemed to have changed, were now delicious without that thinness I had noticed before. The part-time worker opted for a large shrimp tempura udon with an extra small shrimp tempura topping, along with a plate of inari sushi...all adding up to around 800 yen at Komugiya. It's great that you can eat udon starting from 160 yen here, which is why it's so popular. With this taste at this price, there's nothing to complain about. I'd even say thank you. Thank you for the meal.

I really wanted to eat burdock tempura udon. But I was disappointed. The soup was lukewarm, and the burdock tempura was cold. It was cheap, but it made me sad.
