Standing sushi restaurant Shioya in the Shin-Umeda Food Street! Since it's a standing restaurant, it's easy to walk in, but the satisfaction of the sushi surpasses the casual atmosphere, so it's a favorite spot of mine (˘ω˘) The interior has only a counter. Currently, there are partitions so maybe seating for 7 people? But being a standing restaurant, the turnover is quick! We visited around 9:30 PM on Saturday and managed to get in just in time with 2 people! The staff asked, "There are many items sold out, is that okay?" but we didn't mind at all since we just wanted a little sushi to finish off our night of drinking (*'ω'*) It's been a while since we visited Shioya. They quickly prepare and serve the sushi, which is much appreciated. We ordered the recommended "Assorted Seared Sushi Set for 540 yen" this time! It includes scallop, tuna cheek meat, and fatty salmon, a great value set! The scallops were small, so they put two on each piece, which was considerate! The sweet shrimp is prepared by cutting it from a live shrimp in a tank, so when it's served, the shrimp is still moving! The red shrimp was also sweet and had that distinct sweet shrimp taste, delicious (╹◡╹) I ended up ordering it twice! The fatty tuna was a type with a firm texture of pickled radish, satisfying and tasty. The medium fatty tuna, squid, and squid legs were sold out. Also, my favorite fisherman's soup was sold out too, what a shame...! The fisherman's soup is so satisfying with plenty of ingredients. It's a popular spot, so popular items sell out quickly, it seems. Next time, I'll try to come a bit earlier! Even after we left, the place quickly filled up again, despite being close to closing time, truly amazing. Thank you for the meal!
