- Restaurant Name: Tonkotsu Shirodashi Creative Noodle Shop Tomoike - Location: 3-12-20 Akeo, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture - Dish: Rich Tonkotsu and Niboshi Ramen (Price: 1,000 yen) - Payment Method: Cash - Parking: Not available - Visit Details: - Date: June 28, 2023 (Wednesday) - Time: 18:40-19:00 - Dining Style: Eat-in - Crowdedness: Comfortable Personal Impression: - Soup: Thick and rich tonkotsu and niboshi broth - Noodles: Chewy whole wheat thick noodles - Toppings: Soft-boiled egg, chicken chashu, white negi, mitsuba - Review: Tomoike is a popular ramen shop in Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City, known for its tonkotsu shirodashi ramen. The broth is made from pork trotters and aromatic vegetables, not pork bones, resulting in a delicious white broth. As a ramen shop originating from a traditional Japanese cuisine restaurant, the refined flavors here never disappoint. This time, I tried their new menu item, the rich tonkotsu and niboshi ramen, which I had been curious about after seeing it on their Instagram. The soup was thick and full of niboshi flavor, with a high viscosity and richness. Despite the usual bitterness of niboshi, Tomoike managed to control it perfectly. The whole experience at this shop was truly delightful, from the chewy whole wheat noodles to the soft-boiled egg and chicken chashu toppings. Thank you for the wonderful meal! - Tags: Ramen, Tonkotsu Shirodashi Creative Noodle Shop Tomoike, Fukuoka Ramen, Saga Ramen, Noodles, Gourmet, Lunch, Ramen Lover, Ramen Enthusiast, Foodie, Japanese Cuisine, Ramen Instagrammer, Ramen Exploration, Gourmet Experience, Soy Sauce Ramen, Salt Ramen, Miso Ramen, Ramen Noodles, Japanese Food.

I went to Tomoike this time for their monthly special menu. I was surprised by the large size of the duck chashu! The soup was elegant and well-balanced as usual. It was delicious, but I didn't feel as impressed as I did with the sea bream ramen or curry from previous monthly specials. Tomoike is known for serving delicious ramen overall, so it's a recommended spot for those who want to try different types of ramen or enjoy refined flavors that they don't usually have.

I wanted to visit Tomoike-san♡ Of course, I was looking forward to the Tonkotsu Shirodashi Ramen^ ^ The interior of the restaurant is very stylish♡ You can relax and unwind here♪ I was also curious about the limited edition Duck Negi Ramen. First, I tried the Tonkotsu Shirodashi Ramen. It was creamy and delicious♡ The noodles were flat and slightly thick, which may be a matter of personal preference. I prefer thin noodles, so I laughed. The crispy and tender pork leg chashu was included, and it was delicious. The sliced pork belly I ordered as a topping was also tender and tasty. And then the Duck Negi Ramen. I took a sip of the soup and couldn't help but say "Ahh♡ it's delicious" out loud. The noodles here were also flat. The extra rice dish was also delicious. There is no parking lot, so I parked at a nearby parking lot.

I tried two dishes, the rich pork and dried fish ramen and the pork white broth ramen, along with the risotto. This place is known for its pork white broth ramen, so my expectations were high. After placing my order, I waited for a while and finally the pork white broth ramen arrived. While there are many chicken white broth ramen shops, pork white broth ramen seems rare. When I tasted the soup, the richness and deliciousness combined perfectly and it was so tasty. The noodles were also delicious. The dried fish ramen was also full of flavor, giving off a strong dried fish taste. It was delicious. The risotto was also tasty, but the pork and egg bowl that the person next to me was eating looked so good that I decided to try that next time.

I tried to go to a chicken ramen restaurant in Minamihama, but they were closed for a long period, so I looked for another nearby place to eat. The atmosphere here reminds me of Nakamura-Bo. I ordered the pork paitan ramen with egg and chashu rice for a total of 1330 yen. I could hear the blender in the back blending something. The ramen that was served had a similar appearance to Nakamura-Bo, maybe it's a form of respect or inspiration. While Nakamura-Bo specializes in chicken, this place is different. Now, onto the soup. It doesn't have a strong smell, so that's good. And it tastes delicious. However, it's a bit salty. It has a rich umami flavor without any artificial seasoning, which is great, but the saltiness seems to overpower the taste a bit. It's like they added an extra serving of sauce meant for extra noodles. The noodles are thick and made with plenty of whole wheat flour, around 4mm in width. Maybe they wanted to enhance the aroma and flavor with the whole wheat flour. The texture is a bit rough, probably due to the high percentage of whole wheat flour and the absence of egg white powder. While the noodles themselves are not bad, they simply don't pair well with the soup. I think they would be perfect for a cold dish like cold noodles with kelp water. If they made thinner noodles, around 2.2mm, with egg white powder for a crispy texture, it could elevate the dish even more. The toppings included crispy pig's feet with a crunchy outer skin and rare chashu. The lime added a complex flavor to the soup in the latter part of the meal. Overall, it had a Nakamura-Bo vibe, but I personally prefer this place. It's a spot where both Kyushu purists who believe ramen must be cloudy and those who can't stand the smell of cloudy ramen can enjoy together.

Katsuobushi pork and plum and dried young sardines rice. The noodles were like a mix between Chinese noodles and soba noodles? It was a strange type of noodle. The way the noodles were cut reminded me of soba noodles. Personally, I didn't really like the taste of the ramen. Maybe it would have been better without the katsuobushi. It was really hot when I visited, so the cold oolong tea was much appreciated.

The rich pork ramen with dried fish was just as flavorful as before, but this time the soup was easier to drink. The chicken breast chashu and egg are delicious as well. After finishing the noodles, I pour the remaining soup over rice to make a risotto, which is also very tasty. You can taste the owner's dedication to ramen, coming from their background in traditional Japanese cuisine.

Located in the area of 3-12-20 Showyo, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City, just a 12-minute walk from Fukuoka Subway Station, Mammy's Momiji Shop is a popular spot known for its "Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen" and other limited-time and new menu items. The restaurant is housed in a standalone building, and upon entering, guests are greeted with a warm welcome to take off their shoes before being seated at traditional sunken kotatsu tables in a spacious tatami room. Originally a Japanese cuisine restaurant, Mammy's Momiji Shop made a rare transition to a ramen shop due to the impact of the pandemic. During my visit, I tried their June and July limited-time menu item, the "Hiyashi Mazesoba." The dish was visually appealing with toppings such as tomatoes, aosa seaweed, egg, white leeks, and pork belly chashu, creating a colorful and appetizing presentation. The scrambled egg topping was a unique touch that added to the dish's appeal. Mixing the ingredients together revealed a delicious fusion of flavors, with the acidity of the tomatoes and aosa seaweed complementing the sweet noodle broth and scrambled egg, resulting in a carbonara-like fusion of flavors. The thick noodles, made from high-hydration whole wheat flour, provided a satisfying texture and balanced the dish perfectly. This limited-time menu item is available until the end of July, so I recommend giving it a try if you're interested. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience. Enjoy Ramen Life!

I ordered the Pork White Broth Soba and Taiwanese-style Braised Pork Trotter Lo Ro Fan set, while my wife ordered the Rich Pork and Dried Fish Soba. The Pork White Broth Soba had a creamy and rich soup that was refreshing and delicious. The noodles were thick, which might have been to match the richness of the soup. The Braised Pork Trotter Lo Ro Fan in the set felt a bit heavy, and maybe white rice would have been better. The Rich Pork and Dried Fish Soba had a slightly excessive dried fish flavor, but it was still tasty overall. Thank you for the meal.

Located in the area of 3-12-20 Akeyo, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City - a 12-minute walk from Futsukaichi Station on the subway, right next to Mami's Momiji store. This popular restaurant is gaining attention in the media with dishes such as the "Tonkotsu Shiro" ramen, as well as limited edition noodles and new menu items regularly introduced. The exterior resembles a house, and upon entering, you are greeted with a traditional Japanese setting where you take off your shoes and are seated at a sunken kotatsu table in a spacious raised room. Originally a traditional Japanese restaurant serving kaiseki cuisine, the establishment made a rare transition to a ramen shop due to the impact of the pandemic. This time, I tried their new menu item, the "Rich Tonkotsu Niboshi Ramen." The soup was delicious, with a rich and flavorful combination of tonkotsu and niboshi broth. It was truly impressive to see how expertly they incorporated niboshi into the soup, creating a high-quality broth that could easily rival renowned ramen shops in Tokyo like Hyakumeiten and Michelin-starred establishments. The noodles, made with whole wheat flour, had a perfect thickness and texture that complemented the tonkotsu niboshi soup well. The tender chicken breast topping was spot on, and the soft-boiled egg, white negi, and mizuna added a balanced touch to the dish. Every last drop was delicious. If you want to experience the pinnacle of ramen crafted by a master of Japanese cuisine, I highly recommend trying this place. I will report back on their "Hiyashi Soba" next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal. Enjoy Ramen Life☆

Kappo Tomoike has become Menya Tomoike, specializing in Tonkotsu Ramen. Mr. Hamano, who loves Chicken Paitan Ramen, is eager to visit the new ramen shop. However, due to the high risk of severe illness in elderly people, outdoor dining has been prohibited to protect their lives. Despite the restrictions being lifted, Mr. Hamano finally takes off in his hybrid car to Fukuoka. The hybrid car has excellent fuel efficiency, allowing him to travel longer distances. He enjoys the Tonkotsu Ramen at Menya Tomoike, filled with collagen-rich creamy soup. Despite the past two years being lost, he is grateful for the freedom to travel and dine out again. The future is bright as he explores his favorite cities in Fukuoka and North Kyushu. His second chapter has just begun.

Today, my partner and I took a walk along the subway line in the early summer heat. We walked from Fushizaki Station to a hidden gem of a shop in a residential area called Yuike-san, a creative noodle shop specializing in pork shabu-shabu broth. We arrived slightly after opening time and had to wait about 30 minutes before entering the crowded shop. For lunch, they offered pork shabu-shabu broth ramen and risotto. I ordered the dried fish and pork shabu-shabu broth ramen. The ramen was served promptly, and the creamy soup from the pork shabu-shabu broth was delicious! I wanted more soup, it was so good that I wished there was more to drink. The dried fish flavor was also tasty, but it had a thick consistency that lingered in the throat. The thick noodles were perfectly matched with the soup, while the dried fish flavor tended to be a bit overwhelming. Pieces of pork feet were hidden among the ingredients, adding to the richness of the broth. The risotto was also delicious! Each person mixes the pork shabu-shabu broth soup to their liking, and the seasoning was fantastic. I would love to try mixing it all together in a bowl and eating it. They seem to have limited-time menu items every few months, so I look forward to the next visit.

Located in the area of 3-12-20 Akeyo, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City, just a 12-minute walk from the subway station "Fujisaki", next to Mami's Momiji store. Since the fire that destroyed the adjacent yakitori restaurant at the end of last year, the restaurant has been dismantled and "Tomoike" has become prominent along the street! The entrance approach pathway is now easier to understand and looks great! Thanks to a recent TV broadcast (featuring Robert Baba), the restaurant has been selling out every day, which is a delightful sight. This time, I tried the limited-time menu for April and May, "Sakuradai Negi Soba"! First of all, let's admire the presentation - as always, it looks beautiful! The "Tai no Nikogori" (simmered sea bream) and "Chicken Breast Chashu" that accompany the bowl, with the sea bream broth shining like gold in the bowl! The simple combination of green onions, kabosu, and the aroma create a sense of anticipation. Let's start with the soup - delicious! The meticulously prepared sea bream broth, bursting with umami, is the best in Japan☆ I have tried sea bream broth ramen before, but... the mastery of Japanese cuisine is on another level! This quality is Michelin-star worthy☆ In Tokyo, customers would line up for this even at double the price. As I melt the "Tai no Nikogori" on a separate plate, the umami of the sea bream intensifies! This is amazing! Normally, the boiled sea bream meat, used for making broth, should be tasteless, but it retains the flavor and essence of the sea bream - I was told that the "technique of Japanese cuisine" was applied. The medium-thick whole wheat noodles are a perfect match with the sea bream soup, and the moist chicken breast topping is impeccable! It was delicious until the very end. This is one of the top ramen shops in Fukuoka! Why not try the ultimate ramen made by a master of Japanese cuisine? Next time, I will report on the "Niboshi Soba". Thank you for the meal. Enjoy Ramen Life☆

Pork white broth soba and refilled risotto for 1030 yen. While chicken white broth is common, pork white broth is rare. The soup looks creamy with foam on top. It doesn't have any pork smell, but it's rich and delicious. The noodles are thick and flat, which I like. Lastly, there's hot rice with bonito and cheese on top, where you can pour the soup in to make risotto. The restaurant is located in a residential area with limited parking spaces. There's a coin parking lot nearby. The atmosphere feels more like a soba restaurant than a ramen shop.

At the entrance with the sign "Kappo" written, I wondered if the ramen shop had changed, so I put my shoes in the shoebox and opened the sliding door inside. A nice seat was waiting for me with a calm atmosphere, and the sunken kotatsu tables provided a comfortable dining experience with enough distance between each seating area. This shop is known for using pig trotters instead of pork bones to make their soup, and they offer an original ramen with the soup in a foamy texture. I had planned to have ramen for my last meal in Hakata, but since I had never tried pig trotters before, I decided to dine here. For the order, they offer a lunch set where you can choose from three types of ramen and select a side dish to go with it. I chose the basic pig trotters ramen with a side of Chashu and boiled egg rice. The ramen arrived first, and it was a foamy broth with a gentle flavor different from the rich pork bone broth. The noodles were flat but had a grainy texture, possibly made from whole wheat flour. The chashu was cooked at a low temperature and had a crispy surface, adding a delicious flavor to the soup. There was also a lemon on top, providing a refreshing touch to the dish. I finished the ramen quickly but found the Chashu in the rice dish to be a bit cold, affecting the overall balance. The portion of the rice dish was generous, leaving me feeling full. If this shop were located in the city center, it would surely be very popular. I hope they continue to thrive for my next visit. I would like to try the Spicy Pig Trotters Ramen next time. Thank you for the meal.

Beautiful and delicious! Creamy foam pork trotter ramen♪ Located in a quiet residential area in Akeo, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City. It is about a 10-minute walk from Futsukaichi Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line. The restaurant is a single-family house, originally operated as a Japanese-style restaurant. It has now transformed into a creative noodle specialty shop. It is worth noting that there is no parking space at the restaurant, so it is recommended to park at a nearby coin parking lot. This time, we parked at a coin parking lot that is a 1-2 minute walk away and costs 100 yen for 60 minutes. As it used to be a Japanese restaurant, you are required to take off your shoes at the entrance and enter the room with sunken kotatsu tables. The specialty is called "Tonkotsu Shirodashi Soba," a ramen made with pork trotters and aromatic vegetables soup. The basic "Tonkotsu Shirodashi Soba" is priced at 880 yen. It comes with moist pork belly chashu and crispy grilled pork trotter chashu. There are also variations such as "Katsuo Tonkotsu Shirodashi Soba" and "Umakara Tonkotsu Shirodashi Soba," as well as seasonal limited-time menus. The "Tonkotsu Shirodashi Soba" for 880 yen features two types of chashu that are carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The soup has a fine foam layer on top, giving it a smooth texture. The taste is like a warm bisque, with no animal odor at all. It is not heavy as it does not use lard or pork fat to enhance the richness, making it a guilt-free and even beauty-friendly ramen that is recommended for women. The "Umakara Tonkotsu Shirodashi Soba" priced at 1,000 yen is the base "Tonkotsu Shirodashi Soba" with their homemade chili oil added. It has a slightly stronger flavor, providing a satisfying eating experience. Instead of chashu, it includes sweet and spicy simmered minced pork trotter, which complements the emulsified spicy soup well. The whole wheat flat noodles have a firm and chewy texture, reminiscent of fresh pasta. During lunchtime, there are various set menus available. I tried the "Curry Pork Trotter Lu Rou Fan" this time. It features curry-flavored Lu Rou Fan with bonito flakes and chopped soft-boiled egg, offering a delightful taste experience. In a hidden gem location with a calm atmosphere, I was able to experience a new type of ramen and Lu Rou Fan♪ [Shop Name] Butashirodashi Creative Noodle Shop Tomoike [Address] 3-12-20 Akeo, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture [Business Hours] 11:30-15:00, 17:00-21:00 (L.O. 20:45) *Please confirm [Regular Holiday] Irregular holidays *Please confirm *10 minutes walk from Futsukaichi Station on the subway. 8 minutes walk from Nishitetsu Bus Takutori Stop. I had the rich pork and dried fish ramen! With every sip of the soup, you can feel the dried fish coming into your mouth, giving a smoothie-like sensation in the pork broth. I personally like it, but it might be a love-it-or-hate-it situation. They use a substantial amount of dried fish. You can feel the care put into each bowl of ramen at Tomoike, which is great. I never get tired of going to Tomoike. I'm already looking forward to next month's special ramen.

The monthly special menu was delicious again this time. I can really feel the dedication of the Japanese chef in the flavors. I had the Sakura Tai Negi Soba and Ochazuke rice this time, and I believe that this deliciousness and dedication can only be experienced here. Whenever I come here, regardless of the menu, I always finish every last drop of the soup. You can really feel the love for ramen here. I was lucky to come early this week, as it is always packed and there are even customers waiting outside. Lately, when I want to eat deliciously and elegantly, I choose the monthly special menu with either risotto or Ochazuke. The monthly special menu is elegant and truly shows the chef's dedication. (I started trying the monthly special menu from February, and I wish I had noticed it earlier because the deliciousness and dedication are truly remarkable.) When I want to eat heartily and deliciously, I go for the pork Paitan ramen with Chashu Tamago Donburi or Lurou Fan. All the menu items are delicious, so I highly recommend it.

Fukuoka City, Sawara Ward, Showyo 3-12-20 area - 12 minutes walk from the subway station "Fujisaki Station"! It is located near "Mommy's Momiji Shop". Following the fire that destroyed the adjacent yakitori shop at the end of last year, the yakitori shop was dismantled and "Tomoike" now stands along the street! What has changed is the dim entrance approach, but the interior and exterior remain the same. We tried the limited edition "Rich Bonito and Spicy Curry Soba" until the end of March! First, let's start with the soup - delicious! The rich pork white broth with a strong bonito flavor is bold and wild yet delicately flavorful. Gradually, it transforms into a gentle curry taste, allowing you to enjoy the flavor change. The oriental deliciousness of basil paste flavor also joins in along the way. Among the toppings, the chunky object that made us wonder turned out to be a mixture of potato curry paste and pork trotter meat, blending into the soup and creating an even richer and delicious veggie pork white broth. The medium-thick noodles complement the soup well and are delicious! The toppings - pork trotter skin, kabosu, potato paste, pork trotter meat - all well-balanced and delicious. Since the concept of the restaurant is pork trotters, the gelatinous pork trotter meat in the potato paste is like a hidden gem that adds to the enjoyment as you eat through the bowl. Starting from April, the limited menu "Sakuradai Negi Soba" will be available, so I look forward to visiting again! If you're curious, give it a try - thank you for the meal. Enjoy Ramen Life☆

Visited during Sunday lunchtime. There are only table seats, ranging from 2 to 6 people, totaling 6 tables. The atmosphere is quiet and calming. Ordered the Pork White Soup Ramen and extra-cooked risotto set for 1,030 yen, and waited for a while. It was served in 7 to 8 minutes. The soup is cloudy with foam on the edges. Took a sip of the soup, slightly fishy but delicious! There is a note saying to leave at least 4 ladles of soup for the risotto. The noodles are thick flat noodles, almost like pasta. Could have been a better match for the noodles. The chashu consists of one thinly sliced piece and two pieces of tender pork feet, which are amazing. There are also pork feet slices at the bottom, so make sure to finish everything. Delicious. The rice for the risotto arrived. It has a nice smell of cheese. Poured the ramen soup over the rice, mixed it, and added black pepper. The hot risotto is delicious.

I had the Pork and Bonito Shoyu Ramen. The combination of pork trotter soup and bonito broth initially lacked depth in flavor and felt mismatched. However, as I continued to eat and mix the thick noodles, a wave of umami flavor emerged. So, maybe if you mix the soup and noodles well before eating, you can enjoy it deliciously right from the start.
