In the South District of Yanase, there is a bakery called "Pan to Yougashi no Toya-san". I often pass by this area regularly because there is a hospital nearby, so I decided to go there specifically to visit the bakery this time. The bakery is not registered on my old navigation system, so I relied on the map to find it. It was located along the street, so I found it easier than I thought, although the exterior was different from what I expected, and I almost passed by it at first. The black-painted appearance reminiscent of an old folk house, with a fully glass-walled kitchen where you can see inside from the outside. When I visited, it was exactly 12 o'clock noon, and I saw an old man in the kitchen taking a lunch break with a cup ramen in hand, which made me laugh unintentionally. Everything seemed so open and not hidden, which left a good impression on me. Inside the store, jazz music was playing, creating a very stylish atmosphere that matched the old building. The friendly staff smiled and recommended their popular bread to me. The prices were mostly in the 100 yen range, making it very affordable. After much deliberation, I chose a cream anpan (110 yen), soy milk melon bread (130 yen), and a scone set (200 yen) this time. Although I wanted to try the savory items as well, I couldn't resist the melon bread! The red bean paste looked delicious! The scones were huge! Due to my own selfishness, I had to pass on the savory items this time. While in the car, I immediately took a bite of the soy milk melon bread, which had a crispy cookie-like surface and a chewy interior, providing a satisfying eating experience. Encouraged by this, I tried the cream anpan next, but it was so heavy that I couldn't finish two in a row. The texture of the red bean paste in the anpan was smooth and had just the right amount of sweetness, making me feel a sense of luxury with anpan for the first time. There are still many bread items that caught my interest, so I plan to keep going back until I try them all!
