A budget izakaya in Tenjin where almost everything is 270 yen. This was my first time being brought here by a friend. The place is located off Nishi-dori and has a good number of seats, including table seating and private rooms. The staff are mostly young and the atmosphere inside is lively. I've been wanting to try out this kind of place where everything is priced the same. Looking at the menu, you can order items individually or go for the all-you-can-eat and drink course, which includes Hakata motsunabe. And on weekdays, you can enjoy 200 items for 2700 yen. If I had known about this when I was a student, I would have definitely frequented this place. There is a wide variety of food and drinks available, including cocktails and non-alcoholic options, making it a comfortable place for beer lovers and women alike. Personally, I thought the portions might be small because of the low prices, but I was pleasantly surprised by the decent amount of food served. The portion of the karaage, in particular, was huge and the taste was juicy and delicious. I will definitely come back again.

However, I noticed a sign across from a well-established ramen shop that said "270 yen." I peeked inside and saw a mix of young people and salarymen enjoying themselves, so I decided to give it a try. The menu had items that I liked, including wine options that paired well with the food like garlic shrimp and cheese, all priced at 270 yen each. I opted for the all-you-can-eat and drink option for 3,080 yen plus a late-night charge. In the end, I had 14 items and felt like I got my money's worth. It was not a chain izakaya, but I thought the food was quite delicious. I left before the last train, but there were still customers coming in and out. There was an ashtray outside for smokers.

We ended up at Gochiya, a restaurant I had been wanting to try. I was excited to try their Sicilian rice dish, which I had heard about but never had the chance to taste. The restaurant offers a drink all-you-can option, and we ordered various dishes including the Sicilian rice, omelette, garlic mushrooms, grilled chicken, potato salad, and buttered corn. The Sicilian rice was delicious and came with a soft-boiled egg on top. The omelette and other dishes were also tasty, and we enjoyed the meal. The total bill for three people came to around 2100 yen per person, which was a reasonable price for the amount of food and drinks we had. Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience at Gochiya.

It's wallet-friendly for me who has been going to drinking parties back to back... Let's go for individual orders since it's the second place! - Tomato slices (270 yen) - Chicken thigh skewers (270 yen) - Grated yam on hot plate (270 yen) - Mushroom ajillo (270 yen) - Medium draft beer (270 yen) Truly everything for 270 yen, even the draft beer... The dishes are decent for the price, with a variety of sizes. It's nice to be able to enjoy different types of dishes at a low price! Personally, I liked the chicken skewers and grated yam on hot plate! (I already like these ingredients, so there's nothing to dislike! haha) The customers were mostly young students, but there were also young businessmen in suits, a variety of people... The total amount is displayed, making it suitable for group drinking parties! This time, we ordered our usual favorites like fried chicken, garlic shrimp, prosciutto, and dessert. If you're looking for affordability and good value, Gochiya is a great option! Almost everything is priced at 270 yen, and items with different prices are clearly marked. I remember that Kyushu specialties and oyster dishes were around 380 yen. Generally, the portion size of each dish is enough for one person, except for the fried chicken - it's really huge, so one order is plenty! Even for light eaters, just the fried chicken alone can fill you up! When ordering individual dishes, I always get the fried chicken, sashimi, yakitori, and ajillo. Even for large groups, you can enjoy the food without worrying about the bill, and the taste is surprisingly good for the price. The restaurant has a big sign, so it's easy to find when you turn from Nishi Street. With long opening hours, you can even stay until morning, making it a recommended izakaya for sure!
