Recently, at a department store, I couldn't resist the temptation and bought a Mont Blanc cake from Nakajima Daishodo as a gift for a client. I had previously tried their pound cake and it was delicious. This Mont Blanc cake had a unique shape, not the usual tall swirls, but more like a thatched roof. It seemed to be available all year round, so I wonder if they use preserved chestnuts. This was my first time trying their coveted fresh cake, the "Kayabuki" Mont Blanc, priced at 864 yen. It may seem a bit expensive, but due to its elongated shape, it seemed to have more volume than usual. When I cut into it, I found that the triangular roof part was made of chestnut cream, while the inside was filled with cream. The base seemed to be made of chocolate, possibly chocolate-coated meringue. I was worried that the chocolate flavor would be too strong, but I was pleasantly surprised. The meringue was baked to perfection and coated in dark chocolate, providing a sturdy base that didn't overpower the chestnut flavor. The cream inside was surprisingly light and fluffy, and the chestnut cream was not too sweet, showcasing the natural flavor of the chestnuts. The chocolate base added a nice contrast without being overpowering, resulting in a light and enjoyable experience. It's easy to eat and would likely appeal to a wide range of people.

I tried Matcha Warabi Mochi for the first time. It's a type of warabi mochi covered in a jelly-like, glossy layer with matcha and kinako powder on top. It's made with Uji matcha from Kyoto. The texture is very elastic, making it difficult to cut with a spoon. The matcha kinako powder has a slight bitterness to it, but I feel like it could use less sugar. Personally, I prefer a slightly more bitter taste, but the extreme elasticity of the mochi makes it impossible to eat with a paper spoon. It has a luxurious feel and is very satisfying, unlike the supermarket warabi mochi I usually eat.

I had a hard time choosing from the many delicious Danba sweets, but I decided on the most popular chestnut Mont Blanc and chestnut paste. Both were very delicious, especially the Mont Blanc which I highly recommend. The meringue base is coated with chocolate, giving it a crunchy texture, and the chestnut cream on top is absolutely delicious! I will definitely be coming back for more.

After buying fugu at Kuromon Market, I headed to Takashimaya. I was also craving something sweet, so I looked around the cake section, but nothing caught my eye. I wanted something unique that other department stores don't have, but Mischalaku was sold out. I remembered that Nakashima Daishodo has a shop in Shinsaibashi too, so I decided to check it out. Unfortunately, they were also sold out, but the staff mentioned that a new batch would be arriving in about 10 minutes. I decided to wait, and after nearly 30 minutes, I finally got my hands on their famous Mont Blanc cake called "Kayabuki". It was delicious! The chestnut cream was smooth and elegant, highlighting the rich flavor of Tamba chestnuts, and the creamy cream added a light and milky touch. The chocolate-coated brown rice meringue base was also a nice touch, ensuring that the cake stayed fresh even if I ate it the next day. It was a bit pricey at 864 yen, but considering the size and quality, it was worth it. If you're looking to buy a cake at a department store, this is a top contender. I wish I had tried it sooner.

I visited the store in mid-October and was drawn to the chestnut Mont Blanc cake, but since I'm not a fan of whipped cream, I decided to try something else. I ended up buying the black sesame and roasted green tea cakes, which are flavors I enjoy. I ate them the next day, and they were delicious. The combination of white chocolate, roasted green tea mousse, and black sesame mousse was perfect, with a crunchy feuillantine as an accent. The layers of flavors were well-balanced, with each ingredient standing out on its own. The sponge was light and the mousse was smooth and airy. The cake had a sophisticated taste, not too sweet, and the flavors of black sesame, roasted green tea, and white chocolate blended harmoniously. The texture of the cake was great, with the crunchiness of the black beans adding a nice contrast. I really loved this cake and would definitely want to try the other similar-looking cakes they offer. The store uses ingredients from Tanba, so there are many other delicious treats to choose from. I also want to try their sweet potato and chestnut sweets. They have a variety of cakes depending on the season, like strawberry fraisier, strawberry tart, black sesame pudding, and matcha cake with large red beans, all of which look delicious. The main store in Tanba has a cafe, and there is also a store in Daimaru Shinsaibashi in Osaka. The cafe at the main store serves lunch, including pizza, and occasionally hosts a dessert buffet that you can enter through a lottery. Check their website for more information!

It is a chewy mochi with a springy and sticky texture. The mochi flour seems to be superior to the kudzu powder, resulting in this texture. It contains yuzu fruit pulp and yuzu peel, giving it a refreshing aroma. It also comes with "yuzu honey" on the side, adding sweetness and enhancing the fragrance.

"Oh, what a luxurious treat!" That's what I thought when I received this pie and chestnut simmered in syrup. I visited a shop that specializes in sweets made with traditional Japanese ingredients such as chestnuts from Tanba and adzuki beans, and I was pleasantly surprised by the simple yet elegant items they had on offer. I decided to purchase them and was not disappointed. The "Anmaru Kurimaru" is a pie filled with either Tanba Daioh small adzuki beans or large chestnuts with their skins on, both with a subtle sweetness that allows the flavors of the beans, chestnuts, and pie crust to shine through. It's like a luxurious version of "LOTTE's Pie No Mi," if you will. The "Shibukawa Chestnut with Chestnut Jelly" is a decadent treat made with a whole large chestnut grown in their own orchard, simmered in syrup with gelatin and a hint of rum, creating a combination of chestnut simmered in syrup, marron glace, and jelly. While these sweets may be slightly more expensive than others, I believe that the deliciousness justifies the price. I recommend giving them a try if you have the chance.

Nakajima Daishodo: Established in 1912, company founded in 1955. Headquartered in Yao City, Osaka Prefecture. Tried the "Suisen Kashi" from Choshian Sansei, priced at 3000 yen excluding tax. There are 6 varieties, all delicious. Especially the red bean ones are elegant and tasty. Would be well-received as a gift. Rating: 75 points. - Red bean Castella: Castella with small Hokkaido red beans (two types of red bean paste). I usually don't like Castella because it's too airy, but the not-too-sweet delicious red beans make it tasty. - Walnut Manju: A steamed bun topped with roasted walnuts, which are thick and nutty. The elegant sweetness of the red bean paste pairs well with it. - Sweet Potato Galette: Made with Naruto Kintoki sweet potatoes. Not too sweet, but has a unique sweetness reminiscent of biting into a raw sweet potato. Interesting powdery texture. - And more: White bean Financier, Black sesame & Ginger senbei, Matcha roll crepe, Soy milk pudding. Overall, the red bean Castella, Walnut Manju, and Sweet Potato Galette were favorites. The other sweets were also good.

I decided to buy a Christmas cake with my partner. I bought a cake called "Tadanishiki Yuzu Mousse" from a Japanese confectionery store. It stood out among the cakes in the Western confectionery section with its lemon yellow color and unique appearance. The cake was made with a rare "Tadanishiki Yuzu" fruit and filled with milk chocolate cream. The combination of yuzu and chocolate was intriguing, and the cake's visual appeal was exceptional compared to others in the store. The main store is located in Tanba, at Nakajima Daishodo. I'm sure their products made with chestnuts or black beans are also delicious. Next time, I'll try buying something from there.

At Takashimaya, there is a store called Nakajima Taishodo. Their bean confectionery "Mameka" comes in a pack of 3 for ¥600! Each piece costs ¥200, a luxurious treat! Made with Tamba black soybeans, these caramel sablés are delicious. I tried a bite and thought, "Wow, this is tasty!" Have you heard of "Engadina"? It's a confectionery with nutty caramel sandwiched between sablé cookies. I love those, so I enjoyed Mameka as well. My friends who love sweets also praised it. One of the three pieces was matcha-flavored, and it had a strong matcha taste. The price was high, but it was worth it. Check out the article on the tasting event before Takashimaya opened here. When I visit Takashimaya again, I'll definitely buy something! Be sure to read other delicious articles as well! Check out Kuro-nyan's "Dame Dame Diet Blog" homepage here. Kuro-nyan's Instagram is here. Blog articles from around 2004 were lost due to the closure of the Dreamlog domain. As a result, many past blog posts have broken links.

I wandered around the basement floor of Takashimaya. I wanted to eat chestnuts, so I found this shop and went straight to it. They were selling chestnut sweets individually wrapped - I bought some! And they offered me a tasting of "Imokuri" - the name and packaging were so cute. It was delicious! I ended up buying it. The chestnut sweets had a simple yet deep flavor that really showcased the chestnut's natural taste. They were elegant and delicious. The Imokuri was a baked sweet made with Tanba chestnuts and Naruto sweet potatoes, with small diced chestnuts adding a nice touch. It was also delicious and heartwarming. I will definitely come back to buy more. ♡

"Impressive, not bad at all." That was my impression after trying these sweets found at Takashimaya in Namba. 'Nakajima Daishodo' is a store that specializes in Japanese and Western sweets made with ingredients from Tanba. Although I discovered this shop for the first time that day, I was intrigued by the elegant impression it gave off and decided to purchase several items. - "Imokuri" is a sweet potato and chestnut sweet, a type of sweet potato treat. It was moist and perfectly sweet, living up to its reputation as the store's signature product. - "Satoyama Brownie" is a chocolate brownie with yuzu citrus flavor. The rich chocolate and refreshing yuzu flavor balanced well, creating an elegant taste. - "Mamekashi" is a caramel and black bean sandwiched between sablé cookies. It was my first time trying the combination of black beans and caramel, but they paired well together. While the decorations are not flashy, each sweet is meticulously crafted. I believe these sweets would make great gifts for superiors or souvenirs.

Delicious sweets made with plenty of Tanba chestnuts, such as Mont Blanc, shortcake, and baked goods. There is a limited-time fair where you can enjoy confectionery that is usually only available at the Tanba main store. The Mont Blanc is especially recommended, with a crispy base and a smooth and mellow texture that is incredibly delicious. The shortcake has an elegant chestnut cream with a subtle sweetness and a smooth sponge that is not too heavy. The baked goods are also full of chestnuts and have an elegant taste. A perfect choice for a thoughtful gift!

I received a Mont Blanc at the chestnut fair. The Mont Blanc cream on top of the whipped cream was like a mountain, almost the size of two cakes. However, the crispy texture of the meringue made with brown rice and the light cream made it easy to eat, and I devoured it with a smile. Thank you for the delicious meal!
