割った鍋
When I said "this street," I meant it just like this. I don't know if there's a street called something street or not. I really hope they don't do any redevelopment here and keep it as it is. Anyway, I finally got to visit a restaurant that I've been wanting to go to for a while. "Taneyoshi." The sign still says "standing bar," but it's not a standing bar. The menu is incredibly long. The variety of choices is like the Tanabata festival. There are so many options that it makes my head spin. I want to carefully look through and decide what to order, but there's so much information that my brain refuses to process it all. Maybe my brain has shrunk over the years from continuous drinking. Still, upon closer inspection, I realize that it's not just a long menu, but it also includes local specialties and ingredients from all over Japan. Hokkaido's Jingisukan, Kesennuma's fried shark, Fukui's heshiko, Hamamatsu's eel sashimi, Hiroshima's oysters, Kochi's bonito belly skin, Saga's mutton, Kagoshima's local chicken, Okinawa's goya champuru... etc. From popular local dishes to rare ones that only locals eat, it's overwhelming how extensive the menu is, and it makes my head spin. While talking about this, I realize that there are also foreign dishes. Despite all this, I'm not a fan of exotic foods, so I just ordered beer and sea bream sashimi. The sashimi was only 280 yen, which is cheap. Not only is the menu extensive, but everything is quite affordable. There was also a fried bamboo ring filled with Kumamoto's specialty potato salad, and even a tuna natto dish. It's not adventurous ordering, as some readers might think (no arguments there). I also had sake and cheese with wasabi pickles. It was a great combination that made the sake go down smoothly, so I had another round of sake. Some regulars were ordering without looking at the menu, and some items were already "discontinued." The extensive menu is constantly changing. Some ingredients may become difficult to obtain or increase in price. Nevertheless, it's fascinating. The chaos of endless possibilities is felt as you dig deeper. But simply put, it's a place where you can drink cheaply and smoke. I'm tempted to go back again.
