ぐるパス
When I come to Hakata, I always crave motsunabe. There are many shops, but since it was Saturday, everywhere was fully booked. The only place available was a restaurant in the new To Hotel by the national chain Ooyama. It's a nationwide chain, so in a way, it's reassuring! The interior is very stylish and seems suitable for business meetings or important meals. However, the staff's voices were a bit loud and energetic, which was a bit overwhelming. I wish they would adjust the volume a bit to match the atmosphere of the restaurant. Sorry for the selfish opinion.
I ordered:
- Yamakasa course for 3,900 yen including tax
- All-you-can-drink (I can't remember the price, but if you drink 3 glasses, they recommend the all-you-can-drink option, so it wasn't that expensive.)
In no particular order, the dishes included:
- Anchovy and watercress salad: The anchovies were plump and flavorful with the right amount of salt, paired perfectly with the watercress and Japanese-style dressing.
- Kimchi: Surprisingly spicy, but tasty with a good amount of garlic flavor.
- Beef motsu: Soft and tender! This is exquisite. Goes well with beer, and the yuzu pepper enhances the umami.
- Horse sashimi: No gaminess, just the right amount of fat, and the texture is perfect. It's been a while, but it's still delicious.
- Motsunabe: I was recommended the miso flavor, and I tried it. Honestly, I was already full by this point, but motsunabe is truly the king of kings. The miso adds richness, and the motsu is flavorful.
In the end, I ended up finishing with champon, even though my stomach was full. I thought about ordering dessert for a palate cleanser, but I was too full to order more. So, I finished my meal here. It was a dinner of drinking and eating! Thank you for the meal.
