Takeout [Foodlog Sweets TOKYO Top 100 Stores 2022]
■ A Can Cookies ¥4,320 (tax included)
These cookies may be difficult to obtain in Tokyo. Located a 3-4 minute walk from Tameike-Sanno Station in Minato-ku, Tokyo, is "Zukka Bekarai Kayanuma." A Western confectionery shop that specializes in Viennese pastries. The owner chef has been awarded the title of Maestro, the highest honor for confectioners, by the Austrian government. Among the many famous sweets here, the most well-known is the "Te Bekarai" cookie. This cookie can comes in 4 sizes, and I purchased the smallest "A can" by making a reservation 2-3 days in advance. Purchasing with a reservation is relatively easy, while it would be almost impossible to buy on the same day. When making a purchase, make sure to confirm the reservation number and name provided at the time of booking. Perhaps these cookies are closely monitored to prevent resale. Also, purchases are cash only. The cookies are neatly packed without gaps, with vanilla, chocolate, and cinnamon flavors. The vanilla cookie uses plenty of almond powder, with a strong buttery flavor and a simple, rustic taste. The chocolate cookie uses original chocolate made in a Viennese workshop, with a soft, moist texture and a refined sweetness. The only square cinnamon cookie in the center has a hint of cinnamon flavor, accented by raspberry jam in the middle. It is a soft, moist cookie. While all of them have a simple taste, the richness of the butter adds an elegant flavor. However, with the smallest A can priced at ¥4,320 including tax, it is quite expensive, and whether the satisfaction justifies the cost is debatable. If you bring it as a souvenir, you will undoubtedly be recognized as a "sophisticated" individual.
