This is my first visit to the high-end artisan bread specialty store, Nogami Kamihonmachi Main Store. Nogami is considered the pioneer of high-end artisan bread specialty stores nationwide, originating from Osaka. The main store in Kamihonmachi is truly the holy land of high-end artisan bread. The small and clean interior is well-organized, with various bread and accompaniments like confiture displayed. I had planned to purchase two loaves, but one was already sold out. So, I bought one loaf and cut it in half to share. I sliced one half into four pieces. The paper bag from Nogami exudes a sense of luxury. Following the instructions in the leaflet, I tore one slice by hand and savored it. It was moist, chewy, and exuded a gentle sweetness with a rich honey aroma. The texture was fluffy without using eggs, which was truly delightful. The next day, I toasted a slice and it had a crisp exterior while maintaining a chewy interior, without needing butter. Nogami has around 200 stores nationwide and also offers online purchases, but visiting the main store was definitely worth it. A pilgrimage to the holy land.

Visited the flagship store of the super famous luxury shokupan (Japanese bread) specialty shop "Nogami". "Nogami" opened in 2012 in Osaka Uehommachi, paving the way for the now common luxury shokupan specialty shops. Tried the "Sogyou Nogami" (¥486) and it was delicious! Soft and fluffy, not too dense but with a gentle elasticity that doesn't get squished easily. There's a subtle sweetness from the milk that adds to the overall flavor. It's great as is, but toasting it for a crispy outer layer is also a good option. Delicious! Despite being a chain, the taste was impressive.

On my way back, I happened to pass by the main store of Nogami-san, so I made a detour to pick up some for my grandson. It was a good time as there were customers being served in front of me. I asked the staff for two pieces and waited. After the customer in front of me finished paying, I also paid and carried two bags to the car to take home to my grandson. He wanted to make another detour, so I dropped him off at Tennoji. We enjoyed a little bit of it on the way home without grilling it, and it was soft and delicious. I'm looking forward to enjoying it again tomorrow morning. Thank you for the meal.

At the end of the year, I received a "Thank you for this year" gift. I was happy to receive it, as I rarely buy it myself. The gift was a stable and delicious loaf of bread from Nogami, with a sweet and fluffy crumb and a soft crust. When eaten plain, I could easily overindulge. When toasted, the thickness of the slices affects the texture - thicker slices are crispier, while thinner slices are softer. I personally prefer slices that are not too thick. The bread is quite sweet, so it's best enjoyed with butter or margarine rather than jam, to fully appreciate its fluffy texture and milky aroma. I enjoyed it with Koiwai margarine, which enhanced the flavor when toasted. Although I don't usually buy this bread myself, I was able to freeze and enjoy it for a while after receiving it. Thank you very much for the gift!

First time visiting the main store. I stopped by on my way back to my hometown for errands. It's my first time buying my favorite bread and jam here. The strawberry flavor is strong! Just a small amount added as an accent. The lemon flavor is refreshing, seems like it would go well with some dish. Not sure what, though. Lol.

It is a well-known high-end bakery famous for its premium shokupan (Japanese milk bread). Before expanding nationwide, I was surprised by the sweetness of the bread and also by the fact that they labeled it as "high-end" on the bag. The strong sweetness is its distinctive feature. Some may have mixed feelings about its relatively long shelf life, but I find it quite convenient. Due to its intense sweetness, it can be a bit challenging to eat a whole loaf in one go. Personally, I find that thinly slicing it and making thick ham sandwiches or egg sandwiches is delicious. Also, despite being a high-end shokupan, toasting it and making sandwiches with rich fillings like tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) is also tasty. I enjoyed it with prosciutto sandwiches as well. Since the sweetness remains even after toasting, it pairs well with rich fillings or sauces. This is just my opinion, but toasting it might help diminish the guilt of freezing it a bit.

I made a reservation for pick-up in the early evening on a regular day. I bought 2 pounds. It's creamy, slightly sweet, and addictive. However, it's expensive so I can only buy it occasionally. It's better to slice it after letting it sit for a day. If you slice it right after buying it, it's too soft to cut properly.

I often go to buy this bread in Chinatown. I bought it for the first time in Osaka, the birthplace. Well, I can't really tell the taste difference though. I just made my own egg salad and sandwiched it. Delicious! I made the egg salad with margarine, Crazy Salt, pepper, mayonnaise, and sugar. If you try it, adjust the amount to your liking. I stopped by on my way to pick up my child from the summer cram school. It's a bit hidden in a back alley, so it's a little hard to find, but since it was before closing time, there weren't many people and I was able to buy quickly. The bread from Nogami is really delicious. I think it's best to eat it as is without toasting.

"This is the main store, right?" I visited the original store of a popular bread specialty shop called "Nogami," which has been popping up in various places in recent years. Although "Nogami" now has stores across Japan, with a focus on the Kansai region, I stopped by their main store in Kamimachi, Osaka during a separate visit to the area. As expected, when I arrived, there were already several groups of people lined up. However, since they mainly sell bread and jams, I didn't have to wait too long. This time, I bought a 2-pound loaf of bread and some marmalade. I had the bread that evening and the next morning, and it was indeed incredibly soft and fresh. Especially the bread the next day had just the right natural sweetness and a chewy texture that lasted. I felt that it truly lived up to its reputation as the originator of high-end fresh bread. As for the marmalade I bought with the bread, it had a mild bitterness and sweetness that didn't overpower the bread's natural sweetness. By the way, most specialty shops that sell high-end fresh bread only offer a 2-pound size, but it seems that this store also offers a 1-pound size. However, they make fewer of the 1-pound loaves, so they may sell out or be available only a few hours after opening, so keep that in mind, especially if you live alone."

Raw bread. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of it. Because I prefer bread when it's baked! But this bread from Nogami. I can't help but eat it as is, without baking it. It's so fluffy. I think it's fluffier than bread from other stores. But I still bake it. Even when baked, it's still soft but light. What's amazing about Nogami's bread is that you can eat it just baked without any toppings. I tear it by hand and bake it.

I tried the highly coveted "Nogami" shokupan! The paper bag it came in exuded cleanliness. It was heavy but incredibly soft, almost like it could break easily. The appearance was beautiful, even down to the corners. Not only was it beautiful, but it was also delicious down to the last bite. They use the highest quality flour, no eggs, and highlight the natural sweetness of fresh cream in their ingredients. The texture was fluffy yet packed. Surprisingly, I found it tasted better without butter. This is truly the best shokupan in Osaka.

I have come 50 times already, but for some reason it was not posted, so I will post it now! 1 loaf for 400 yen, 2 loaves for 800 yen. It is advertised as delicious all the way to the crust. People who like the crust tend to buy 1 loaf in units of 2. I personally don't think the crust is delicious, so I buy the 2 loaf type. It is also advertised that it is tastier when cooled, but everyone has their own preferences and I like it hot and fresh out of the oven. Recently, the popular bread is the sweet bread with a strong sweetness. It also contains a lot of sugar. It's like a sweet bread. The refined sweetness makes it addictive. How long will this bread boom last?

The bakery that was frequently shown on TV and caught my attention. I happened to live near the main store, so even though I woke up at 11 am on Saturday, the weather was nice so I decided to go there by bicycle. Intrigued by the sound of "luxury shokupan" (Japanese soft bread), when I arrived near the shop, there was a long line! I was prepared to wait for 30 minutes, as I had done some research beforehand, but it really took a full 30 minutes to line up. Most of the people in line were elderly or women, and most likely buying as souvenirs. I was a little surprised to see a mother coming out with 8 bags in both hands. The bread comes in one type, but two sizes: half size and regular size. Unfortunately, the half size was sold out by the customer in front of me. It was already past 12 o'clock, so those who want to buy the half size should probably go earlier. I bought two regular size loaves and tried them as soon as I got home. They were indeed soft and enjoyable to eat down to the crust. It's a bread that suits the Japanese taste, but personally, I felt it lacked the bread aroma and the crispy texture. It seemed like all the effort was put into achieving the perfect softness and moisture balance, which is impressive, but I was a bit skeptical about whether it was worth waiting 30-60 minutes. It's good for breakfast, but it might also be nice to spread some jam on it for a dessert-like experience. Of course, it's also great to enjoy the natural sweetness without any toppings or toasting. Overall, I felt that it's a bread that divides preferences, and it's more suitable for enjoying as a single type of bread, especially as a souvenir. I would like to buy it again if I have the chance. I recommend waking up early and trying it out!

Last Saturday, I saw this place on TV and it caught my interest, so I drove there. The restaurant was located down a side street, but there was a long line of people all the way to the main road, so I gave up and turned back. Today, after finishing my part-time job, I received a message saying there was no work for the day due to rain, so I hurried to the restaurant. When I arrived, there were a few reserved customers and some walk-ins like me waiting in line. I asked if it was okay to order without a reservation, and they said it was fine. I ordered two loaves, each covered in plastic for the rain. When I got home, I tore one open and it was so soft and the crust was thin and soft too. It said it can be stored at room temperature for four days from the manufacturing date, but I think one loaf will be gone by tomorrow. It was a dream come true to finally try it. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Additional note - The next morning, I toasted it and had it without any margarine, and it tasted better that way. It was delicious when eaten warm.

High-quality raw bread Nowadays, various shops have opened all over the country. Among them, the pioneers are the Nogami Osaka main store and Kyoto store(?), which are the only two stores that offer online shopping. When you order three 2-pound loaves, they are neatly packed in a dedicated cardboard box and sent to you, with three separate paper bags included for easy sharing. The price is ¥864 x 3 + shipping, which may feel a bit expensive due to the high shipping cost, but it can't be helped. The only issue is the delivery time, which takes about a month from ordering. I use it as a year-end gift, and it is well received. It is soft, slightly sweet, and delicious even without toasting. I can't help but eat it up quickly.
