I visited a certain Italian restaurant on a Saturday. It's a personal matter, but I will be changing jobs, so this will be my last food adventure in the Shiribeshi area for now. After moving back to my parents' house temporarily, I will return to Hokkaido, but the next area will be different, so I don't think I will come back to Sapporo or the Shiribeshi area often. The restaurant is located along a small river that flows into the Otaru Canal, away from the bustling streets where tourists often pass by, creating a calm atmosphere. The exterior is black, with a chic and calming Italian feel. There are two staff members, one male chef and one young female server. There are three tables and counter seats, with six chairs at the counter, but only two were being used due to the current situation. I entered about 10 minutes after the opening time (11:30 am), and there were already two groups at the tables and one person at the counter, making it the busiest time. The speed of taking orders and serving dishes was a bit slow due to the two-person team, but I patiently waited. ● Pasta Course 1,870 yen (course price varies depending on the pasta chosen) (Appetizer, Pasta, Bread, Dessert, Drink) ◎ Appetizer I thought the octopus would be seasoned with salt, but it was sour haha. Did they sprinkle vinegar on it? It had a taste similar to Japanese vinegar-marinated octopus. The smoked salmon was salty and made me crave white wine haha. The marinated sardine had a taste like Nanban-zuke. ◎ Bread Warm bread arrived with butter, which was appreciated. The baguette was consistently delicious. The white bread had a soft and chewy texture, with a nice yeasty aroma, which was good. ◎ My Sardine Spaghetti with Plenty of Fish Meat Sauce (homemade sardine anchovy, the umami of fermented fish and the acidity of tomato were exquisite) The pasta had a gentle al dente texture that is easily accepted by many people. It had a crisp and satisfying texture. The female server mentioned puttanesca, so maybe there was a hint of chili in it. The flavors of tomato, anchovy, garlic, capers, olives, etc., were distinctly Italian, with just the right amount of saltiness. It was a dish that made me feel like this is what they mean by a pasta that you can eat every day without getting tired of it. (One small point to note, even though it was described as "plenty of sardines," it didn't have chunks of sardine meat in the sauce, but rather plenty of sardine anchovies.) ◎ Dessert The staff explained the dishes, but as usual, I couldn't fully grasp it haha. Regarding what seemed to be compote of pears, the color was somewhat dull, and it didn't look appetizing. It wasn't strongly flavored with alcohol, nor was it sweet, fresh, or fruity, but rather had a vague taste. The gateau au chocolat was neither good nor bad. The gelato had a mild sweetness with a strong acidity and fruitiness. While eating, I was trying to remember what kind of gelato it was. I occasionally sensed a flavor like umeboshi, or maybe cherry-like? Towards the end, the flavor of plum came to mind, and when I asked the female staff at the checkout, the correct answer was plum, which made me a little happy. Thank you for the meal. There are still many more restaurants I want to visit, mainly in Sapporo, but next time, I want to discover the charm of different areas in Hokkaido. Thank you for reading today.
