Today is my birthday month and I have been enjoying happy days filled with celebrations. My close friend Eri-chan, who is active as a celebrity in Ashiya, was the first to celebrate with me♡ And to top it off, Eri-chan even wore miimi's clothes to the celebration, which made me so happy♡ The restaurant we went to is YUNiCO, which recently earned one Michelin star in the 2022 Kyoto Osaka guide. This Italian restaurant in Kitashinchi, opened in 2019, has always caught my attention☼*―――――*☼*―――――*☼*―――――*☼

The latest edition of the Michelin Guide Kyoto Osaka 2022, the talk of the town YUNiCO, is an Italian restaurant opened by Jun Yamamoto, who honed his skills at Ristorante Hiro for 10 years. Using European ingredients as well as Kyoto's Kyo-yasai vegetables and Awaji Island fresh fish, among others, the Japanese Italian cuisine is simple in style, bringing out the potential of the ingredients. They also emphasize wine pairings, with a lineup focused on Italy and France. The restaurant has only counter seats, creating an immersive atmosphere where guests can watch the dishes being prepared right in front of them. Located just a 2-minute walk from Kitashinchi Station in Osaka, it was literally 0 minutes away from the exit I took!
■Profile Owner Chef Jun Yamamoto
Born in 1984. He was fascinated by cooking during his student days and went to a culinary school. After graduating, he trained at an Italian restaurant in Kyoto before joining Ristorante Hiro. He served as head chef at Ristorante Hiro Osaka for 2 years and Ristorante Hiro Aoyama for 3 years, also involved in launching new stores. In April 2020, he finally opened his own restaurant, YUNiCO, in Kitashinchi, Osaka.

- Welcome Drink: Instead of the expected new potato, we were served a chilled potato soup Vichyssoise in a champagne glass. It had a smooth texture and a simple potato flavor.
- Ainame: Deep-fried scales of Ainame. The crispy scales and fluffy soft flesh create an enjoyable contrast in textures. The elegant flavor of Ainame with a curry twist spreads in your mouth.
- Shiitake: Not almond, but a fried dish of Tenkeiko Shiitake mushrooms from Tokushima. With its rich umami content, it has about three times the umami of regular shiitake mushrooms, offering a flavorful taste and a satisfying texture.
- Ishidai Garlic: Carpaccio of Ishidai from Awaji Island. Aged slightly, the refined umami of Ishidai, combined with a hint of garlic, spreads in your mouth.
