In March 2022, I stayed at the "Hotel Taiho" in Hiroo Town for 6,600 yen with breakfast included. The breakfast venue was a restaurant called "Kaisen" on the 1st floor. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of dishes served, even though I didn't have high expectations for breakfast at what seemed like a business hotel. I usually stay at inns in Urakawa Town or Kaerimachi, but after seeing this breakfast, I might consider staying in Hiroo Town occasionally despite the distance. Next time, I might even opt to include dinner as well!

Dad visited this restaurant during his business trip, which is known for being attached to a famous inn (hotel) in this area. According to Dad's report... "We dined at 'Kaisen,' located in the hotel 'Daibo,' where there is a spacious tatami room and table seats that can be used interchangeably." Dad said, "It was quite crowded during dinner time. I'm not sure if they were all staying at the inn." So, what did Dad order? "Well, for an additional 1,000 yen on top of the accommodation fee, we could have dinner. If we added 2,000 yen more, we could have had a very luxurious meal." And what did he do? "With just one comment from the accompanying staff, 'You probably won't be able to finish it all!' we made a simple decision." So, how was it? "Look at this! The main dish was 'Toban Jingisukan,' filled with seafood and mountain delicacies. It was never boring. Plus, the rice comes in a small-sized rice container as standard. The soup was made with salted cod. The vinegared dish with trout and seaweed was delicious! The octopus with wasabi was also excellent. The Jingisukan was steamed and grilled, so it was delicious!" Dad was quiet, but Mom said, "Is it really only 1,000 yen?" I also think so. Dad said, "Wait, there's more to it!"... I wonder what it could be? The accommodation itself was a comfortable business room, and Dad was satisfied and went to sleep. The next morning, Dad woke up feeling great and headed to the breakfast venue. Dad said, "Oh! Look at these side dishes. This salmon is cut after being grilled! It's different from the usual small portions." Dad? Isn't the breakfast a bit simple? "Yes, that's right. About 30 percent of the side dishes are shown here. There's no sashimi, but this salmon is delicious! I ended up eating three more slices later. The grated nameko mushroom is my own creation! Plus, rice refills are free. And it's only 500 yen!" Are you full? "Yes! The homemade dishes make staying here worthwhile!" I want to stay here too! "Great!
