On a substitute work Sunday, I headed to "Chuka Sakaba Fumiya" for lunch. The location is 5-chome of Watanabe Street, southeast of Tenjin Minami Subway Station. It's a bit difficult to describe with buildings crowded together and narrow alleys running in all directions. Personally, it's near my favorite grilled yellowtail restaurant, but that's not very helpful to mention... (laughs) As I walked down the alley, I spotted signs saying "Ramen" and "Lunch". The exterior of the building was decorated with a unique design resembling paper lanterns stuck all over. I arrived at 11:30. I knew about the restaurant but it was my first time going in. There were two counter seats split into two areas, totaling about 10 seats. The counter seats seemed cramped with limited depth... In the center of the floor, there was a communal table facing each other. Although the situation with COVID-19 has started to settle down, I still felt a bit concerned about facing others... So, we decided to use the available 4-person table. I ordered the "Hamaguri Ramen + Karaage (2 pieces) + Half Fried Rice (1,350 yen → 1,000 yen, tax included)". It was a menu featured in a magazine with a special price. There was one family as the previous customers. The operation was managed by 2 staff members, and dishes were served one by one as they were ready. First, the karaage arrived. It was served piping hot, so I had to be careful not to burn my mouth. Deep-fried dishes like this are best enjoyed when hot. (#^^#) Next, the ramen arrived. It had two plump hamaguri clams. Toppings included chicken chashu, menma, and wood ear mushrooms. I started by trying the soup. It was a clam-flavored salt ramen that made me feel like I was by the sea. However, the saltiness was a bit too strong. The fried rice also had a slightly salty taste. The moist, fluffy texture was truly skillful. Even though I couldn't drink during work, all the dishes would go well with beer. I wish I could have a drink at lunch... With that thought, I enjoyed the delicious meal. Thank you for the meal.
