My daughter is gradually reaching the age where I don't know how long we can go to theme parks or go shopping together. I even accompany her to drink tapioca tea, which I absolutely dislike. Still, I would say that drinking tapioca tea with my daughter is priceless. However, I am a disgrace as a human being because I always end up focusing on the taste and cost performance.

At the entrance of Universal Studios, I usually get the black sugar drink from Gong Cha, but because it was a hot day, I decided to try the mango one. I added tapioca pearls as a topping. It was so delicious that I wondered why I hadn't tried it before. It might be perfect for hot days. Thank you for the meal! (^^)

I bought Goncha's chocolate tapioca on my way back from USJ because I like it. There were a lot of people who had just come back from Universal Studios, so I had to wait in line for a bit. The chocolate was rich and delicious. I had a great time at Universal Studios and took some Instagram-worthy photos, so I was satisfied. (*^^*)笑

There is a black tapioca drink shop located in Universal City between USJ and the station. It seems to be a well-known store, and it was actually delicious.
■■■ Shop ■■■
Located on the main street from Universal City Station to USJ, it has a great location. There wasn't a long line, but there are ropes to guide the line, so there may be some waiting. The menu mainly consists of teas such as black tea, oolong tea, and roasted green tea, with no weak options like strawberry milk. Prices range from 400 yen to 500 yen, with tapioca being an additional charge and tax on top, making it quite expensive.
■■■ Drinks ■■■
▼ Black (black tea) Milk tea + tapioca 529.2 yen (420 yen + 70 yen + tax) (September 2020) The aroma of black tea and the non-milky smell of milk blend well and taste delicious. The tapioca is chewy and not too hard. The fact that it's not overly sweet is also nice. It's understandable why it's popular, hitting the mark right in the middle.
▼ Ali Shan (oolong) Milk tea + tapioca 583.2 yen (470 yen + 70 yen + tax) (September 2020) I'm not very familiar with black tapioca, but oolong tea seems rare. It's similar to black tea, but the unique fermentation scent of oolong tea is quite delicious. I would recommend it to those who don't mind this flavor.
■■■ Closing ■■■
I would give a taste rating of 3.9, but... it's quite expensive, isn't it? Some people might think it's normal to pay that much. While I believe it's good for those who follow that pricing trend, there aren't many street food options with such high prices. I hope many more stores will remain to keep the economy going. (This is just my opinion. Thank you for the meal.)

I tried the famous Gong Cha for the first time. The staff was friendly and explained everything to me. There was plenty of tapioca in the drink, and the portion size was generous. It filled me up like a whole meal. It took me a while to finish the drink, but it stayed cold throughout. I enjoyed it until the last drop.

My daughter loves Gong Cha tapioca more than other stores. It is indeed chewy, not too sweet, and has a great flavor of brown sugar. I had the Brown Sugar Milk Tea with black tea. Takeout only. Recommended for after visiting USJ.

I went to the popular Gong Cha for the first time. I wouldn't wait for hours, but the tapioca boom has calmed down. I ordered the limited edition brown rice tea tapioca milk tea. The staff wrote a message on the cup cover by hand. Maybe it's for Instagram. The taste was surprisingly good, with the perfect balance of brown rice tea aroma and sweetness. It had a lot of tapioca in it for an extra 70 yen. It felt like there was too much tapioca at the end, like eating gummies. The tapioca was slightly larger and chewier than I expected, but overall, it was a good experience for my first time at Gong Cha.

This time, the dishes I enjoyed were:
★ Jasmine Green Milk Tea
The scent of jasmine in this tea is really nice and calming. I've tried various jasmine teas before, but this one ranks high in terms of deliciousness.
★ Black Milk Tea
This milk tea has a slight bitterness to it, which is nice. The bitterness paired with the sweetness of the tapioca pearls was a perfect match and incredibly delicious.
Gong cha offers high-quality Taiwanese tea that can be customized to your liking. You can choose your favorite drink from a wide menu, then select the sweetness level, ice amount, and up to 3 toppings, making it your own personalized drink.

When this shop opened in Umeda Chayamachi, I lined up for about 2 hours to get a drink. Recently, everywhere you look, it's all about tapioca tea, so I was feeling a bit tired of it. But Gong Cha is an authentic Taiwanese shop and you can enjoy it at a reasonable price, so I decided to try tapioca tea again after a long time. Even the small size has plenty of volume. It's nice that it's less than 500 yen.
