Furaku Manju, the famous rotating cake and honey-filled bun shop in Fukuoka Nishijin, Fukuoka Main Store. They had been focusing on take-out of the specialty rotating cakes and Furaku buns, but finally, after three years, the eat-in service has returned! In addition to the popular regular flavors Cobalt and Mitsukake, two types of summer limited shaved ice were also available for dine-in. Previously, they had a wide variety of flavors like Cobalt, Milkshake, and Uji Kaneto. Cobalt is not mint-flavored but has a natural sweet honey taste, and it won't turn your tongue blue (lol). The ice is fluffy and melts quickly. The Milkshake is essentially a milkshake flavored shaved ice. Looking forward to a full menu of shaved ice next year. I also brought home the hot Furaku buns with white and black bean paste. I prefer the white one. But of course, I enjoy sharing and trying different flavors with my family (lol). They have stores in Fukuoka and Kumamoto. I love the unique honey-rich scent of Furaku buns that sets them apart from other rotating cakes. Of course, you can also enjoy Furaku buns in-store. A warm tea and a break are also nice. Furaku buns are 110 yen, Cobalt is 400 yen. Very reasonable. Every time I return to my home in Nishijin, Fukuoka, I enjoy them deliciously.

Even after being full from the eel, there's always room for shaved ice! The cobalt blue shaved ice is beautifully fluffy, topped with a homemade syrup that is sweet and gentle. The air conditioning is blasting, causing me to shiver after finishing the shaved ice. I also indulged in a Hōraku manju, so today was definitely a calorie overload. On the way home, I bought some Yangtze River pork buns from Nishijin Shotengai, but I had to freeze them for later...

Everyone! It's finally back! Indoor dining! I had Cobalt Ice for the first time in 3 years! It cost 400 yen. The variety has decreased significantly, with only Cobalt Ice and Mitsukake (350 yen) available. It was hot, but I persevered and waited in line. It felt like it had shrunk a bit, but that's okay! Isn't 400 yen cheap for this taste? Next time, I'll try the Mitsukake. Thank you for the meal.

My coworker brought in a treat for us - Hachigaku Manju. It came in both white bean paste and black bean paste flavors, and I chose the white bean paste. The hot Hachigaku Manju with white bean paste was delicious. It cost a little over 100 yen including tax. It might have gone up in price. It was perfect for those who love sweet treats.

I visited a popular shop in Nishishin known for always having long lines, and finally got to try it out. I wanted to order the classic Hachigane Manju with white and black bean paste, but then I saw a poster for shaved ice! It was a sweltering hot day, so I decided to eat in. The cobalt blue shaved ice was not too sweet, with a simple and refreshing coolness that was perfect for healing my exhausted body from the heat. The syrup was evenly distributed throughout, not just on top, and it was delicious until the last bite. The shop's signature item, the Hachigane Manju, was also great with its smooth and gentle sweetness of white bean paste and the soft and sweet black bean paste. With each bite filled with both flavors, I was completely satisfied! It truly felt like a dish loved by the locals.

Oh, it's so cheap! I love these sweets so much. I love both white bean paste and black bean paste. They cost 100 yen including tax. There are days when I want to eat this manju more than any expensive sweets. By the way, I like white, and my husband likes black.

Introducing Hachigaku Manju Nishijin Main Store. Established in 1953 in Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, the founder, who owned a beekeeping farm, started Hachigaku Manju. In 1960, the first store in Fukuoka was opened in Nishijin. Since then, the handmade, freshly made, additive-free, safe, and reasonably priced manju have been loved as Fukuoka's soul food, priced at 110 yen per piece. They offer two types of fillings: black bean paste and white bean paste, and reservations can be made until the day before. I bought one each of black bean paste and white bean paste as I passed through Nishijin Shotengai after a long time and ate them in the car. The freshly made, handmade manju was piping hot. The chewy dough with a mildly sweet black bean paste made from beans from Tokachi, Hokkaido, was delicious. The white bean paste, made from Ootobou beans from Tokachi, was moist and sweet, with a stronger sweetness than the black bean paste, making it equally delicious. Currently, they have 5 stores operating in Fukuoka Prefecture. If you have the chance, please try it out. It's been a while since I strolled around Nishi Shin Shopping Street. Of course, I had to stop by Hachiraku Manju for souvenirs. Watching the manju being made one by one through the glass is enjoyable. The quality and deliciousness are still top-notch! It's amazing that they are only 110 yen each with plenty of sweet bean paste. Personally, I prefer white bean paste, but the black bean paste here is also delicious with a rich red bean flavor. I will definitely visit again!

I love red bean paste, and I have bought many red bean paste products, but in the end, I always come back to Hachimitsu Manju. It's my personal favorite red bean paste product. The cost performance is great at 110 yen! Both the white and black versions are delicious in their own way. The white bean paste has an elegant taste, while the black bean paste has a delightful grainy texture. When baked in the oven, it becomes crispy and offers a different texture to enjoy. This time, I ate it as it is, and it was also very delicious. The dough has a slightly chewy texture like pancakes, which is irresistible. The cost performance and taste are just too good. This flavor really becomes addictive.

I had 2 for lunch and 2 for dinner! Due to the coronavirus, flexible working hours have become common, so I can now stop by Hachiku Manju on my way home. It used to be closed by the time I got off work after 6 pm. Now, since I leave work earlier, Hachiku Manju is still open! But I somehow can't resist stopping by (laughs). I love it, so I just had to buy some! When you buy 6, they come in a box. My wife likes the black ones, so black is a must! I prefer the white ones, so I order more of those. I get 1 black and 3 white, while my wife gets 1 black and 1 white! Sometimes she says she doesn't need the white ones! So, with 2 for lunch and 2 for dinner, I have met my quota! It was delicious~ Thank you for the meal.

I stumbled upon Hachigane Manju in Nishishin. I had to buy it. I bought 4 each of black and white. The thin skin is filled with plenty of red bean paste. It's delicious. There are black and white fans in my house. I prefer white (^^)/ Black is chosen once out of three times.

I always gave up on this restaurant because of the long line. But for the first time, I decided to try it since there was no line. (It's rare for there to be no line, but when there is a line, Kansai people tend to give up). I thought it would be similar to what I often see in Kansai, but it was surprisingly moist and had a different taste. People who like this may prefer it over the ones in Kansai.

More than 60 years ago, this delicious treat originated from Minamata, Kumamoto, and has become famous in Kyushu. When you take a bite of a freshly made one, it is chewy, moist, and slightly stretchy, with the sweetness of honey and just the right amount of red bean paste. Each one costs 110 yen, and you can choose between black bean paste and white bean paste. The people waiting in line ahead of me, two of them each bought one. Even though it may seem childish for adults, the desire for that taste is strong. That day, I bought two black ones. When I buy the 30-piece pack, I freeze the extras and reheat them in the microwave and then toast them in the oven, which is also delicious. I enjoyed it on the Shinkansen. You can also buy them at Iwataya or Hankyu in Hakata Station. If you don't have to worry about your weight, you'd want to eat as many as you can. It's so delicious. I will definitely come back for more. For those who haven't tried it, be sure to taste it. It's different from imagawayaki or dorayaki.

【2022.08.01】After having lunch in Nishishin, when it came to desserts, there were many options to choose from. However, a single comment from a colleague made the decision for all of us. Upon hearing those words, I also agreed. We all lined up and bought some as souvenirs.◾️White Bean Paste Since I gave black bean paste to my colleague at work, I chose white bean paste for myself. The white bean paste was originally for my own consumption. It's just delicious.

I was walking home from shopping and feeling like I wanted to eat something, so I decided to stop by a shop that surprisingly didn't have a long line. There was only one person in front of me, so I was able to buy quickly. I purchased one black bean paste bun for 110 yen. It was filled with plenty of sweet bean paste, and the outer skin was chewy and delicious.

I prefer the white ones. My wife prefers the black ones. So... I have one black and three white. I would have preferred all white, but my wife likes black, so it would be bad if I suddenly wanted some (laughs). I ate them as soon as I got home. After taking the photos, I devoured all four. Sweet treats help me think clearly and make accurate horse racing predictions! Now, back to making predictions (laughs). Thank you for the meal!

Located just a few minutes' walk from Nishijin Station, this shop can be found in a corner of Nishijin Chuo Shopping Street. There always seems to be a line of at least 5 people waiting. They offer two types of steamed buns, one with black bean paste and the other with white bean paste, both priced at 110 yen including tax. The buns have a slightly chewy outer layer and are filled with sweet bean paste. They are delicious and perfect for relieving fatigue. With only Kokura Itsubuya and Amakusa Motomachi stores left to visit, my tour of Horyu steamed buns is almost complete.

【2022.02.05】"1208" When leaving the cafe after having lunch, we received these from the shop. There seem to be multiple names for them in the area, but I call them "spinning manju". However, these spinning manju are exceptional. It's been a while since I had Hachiraku Manju. It's for my mother, aunt, and myself. They were delighted, and we chose red bean paste from white bean paste and black bean paste. Of course, after returning home, we warmed them up and prepared tea. ◾️White bean paste My favorite white bean paste. To be honest, it's so sweet. But it's a delicious sweetness that becomes addictive. The hot, gooey paste. It's definitely Hachiraku Manju.

I returned to my hometown after about 3 years. After checking into the hotel, the first place I headed to was Nishijin Shotengai. This is the town that raised me. In the midst of this shopping street is a shop called "Hachigaku Manju." There is always a long line of customers. I bought one black bean paste manju and one white bean paste manju, each costing 110 yen. The black bean paste is made mainly from azuki beans, while the white bean paste is made mainly from tsubo beans. Both are blended with honey, giving them a unique sweetness that makes me feel happy. When asked which one I prefer, I can't choose and say I like both! This taste is something you can't experience in Tokyo. I will forget about Tokyo for a while. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Today, I had pork cutlet curry for breakfast before going to the movies, so even though it's almost lunchtime, I'm not in ramen mode yet. The movie ended at 11 o'clock. So, I decided to stop by Hanjaku Manju. Yesterday, before heading to work, I saw a truck unloading a lot of flour from Hanjaku Manju in Nishijin Shopping Street. The amount was huge. Well, they must be selling a lot. They must have bought a lot of flour, right? I mean, the flour bags have "Hanjaku Manju" written on them. It's a special flour, right? Of course. And, I have arrived. And guess what? There's not much of a line! Lucky me! Usually, there are easily more than 10 people in line. Today, there were about 5 people. At home, my wife and I each have one black and one white, and I have one black and she has one white. So, I got 2 black and 4 white. I walked back home and ate them right away. They are still warm. First, I'll have the black one. The sweetness is elegant, you might say modest. Since I prefer the white one, I'll start with the black one and then quickly move on to the white one. Oh, it's so sweet! This is it! This is it! I think the skin of the Kumamoto one is thicker, while the Fukuoka one has a thinner skin, so I feel like the Fukuoka one has more filling. I only eat Hanjaku Manju once or twice a year, so I feel truly happy. Now, should I do some exercise? Thank you for the meal.

I visited just before closing time with a slight hunger pang. I had missed it a few times before because they close at 5 pm. The white bean paste flavor is definitely delicious. Especially when it's freshly baked, the subtle sweetness of honey leaves a good aftertaste. It's perfect when paired with green tea. And at only 100 yen, it's quite reasonable. I even saw someone buying 30 pieces to take home by themselves.
