Various food and beverage establishments crowd the popular standing udon and soba shop "Shioya Umeda Store" in the bustling "Shin Umeda Food Street". This corner is almost monopolized by Shioya Group stores. I decided to enter after seeing the "recommended menu of Shioya" at the storefront. Upon entering the store, I first bought a meal ticket at the reception on the left side. Although the "Inari (2 pieces)" for 130 yen next to the order counter looked cheap and delicious, this time, I opted for a light and quick lunch. After a short wait... Croquette Soba for 400 yen. First, I garnished it with tempura flakes and shichimi pepper. Before eating the noodles, I first tasted the broth. The broth was delicious! It had a strong aroma of bonito and kelp. The soba noodles were supple and had a good texture. Both the broth and the soba exceeded my expectations in terms of deliciousness! The soba noodles kept slipping off my chopsticks making it a bit difficult to eat. The croquette was a curry croquette. Have you ever seen anything like this before!? The curry croquette had a slightly spicy and flavorful taste. This could definitely be a side dish for rice! As I continued eating, the croquette's coating started to melt and become soft. The croquette absorbed the broth, offering a different kind of deliciousness. Furthermore, as the croquette dissolved into the broth, the taste gradually transformed into something like curry soba, which was also enjoyable. This is the charm of the shop's croquette soba... The cooler morning and evening hours have started to appear. During my commute in the morning, I ordered the morning set with extra green onions here. The broth is gentle. While eating, I noticed that some people were also eating udon. I realized that I haven't tried udon here yet. I must try it at least once!

There were many "Shioya" standing soba shops in the cafeteria street, and I was planning to order standing soba or soba with soup, but they were not on the menu. I ended up ordering grated soba noodles, and they were surprisingly delicious with a solid soba flavor. The quality was better than expected for the price. It's a good option for a quick meal or when you're feeling a bit peckish. Since regular customers were ordering items not on the menu, you might be able to order soba with soup as well (usually only available in the morning).

Continuing from yesterday, I had breakfast here again. Today, I ordered the dipping soba instead of the regular one. The soba was cold and delicious!! I wonder if the season for eating cold noodles is coming to an end soon? The inari sushi was also very good, with the fried tofu soaking into the rice. I'll definitely be back again!!

The waves of inbound tourists are also coming here! Even though it's not supposed to be crowded in the morning, there were three inbound tourists outside. Inside, there was space available. I quickly ordered and paid. The taste was unchanged, and the warm broth was just right for the cold air conditioning on the train. It gave me the motivation to work hard. I decided to have a light lunch here. I had tempura soba with an egg topping. Since all the stools were taken by a group of people, I ended up eating standing up for the first time in a while. Even with the egg topping, it only cost 490 yen, so I got change back from a 500 yen coin. The taste was reliable and comforting as always. Thank you for the meal.

I visited before 10 am on a weekday. I had trouble finding the place. There is a place called Shin-Umeda Food Street. It was my first time visiting. The restaurant was always crowded and lively. I ordered a large serving of kake udon. It was only 370 yen. There are other places that charge 850 or 900 yen. The noodles were thick and a bit chewy, but tasty. The portion for a large serving was small, but at this price, it was worth it.

Before visiting a customer, I wanted to eat something light. I had the morning cold udon (large serving) at Shioya in the new Umeda dining district. The cold udon here is a bit salty, which goes well with the udon noodles. The noodles are thick for Osaka standards, providing a satisfying meal. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Today, I am suffering from a terrible hangover as a middle-aged person... I felt like I needed to eat something, so I stopped by here. I ordered a large serving of soba noodles. I plan to only eat this for today and drink lots of water to flush out the alcohol. No more drinking!! It was delicious!! Thank you for the meal!

"Ugh, it smells..." Good morning Saturday, with the smell of tobacco drifting up from the ventilation fan. I wake up with a pounding headache like Nara pickles, and find Owarijin-san, who was snoring loudly in the living room after a night of heavy drinking and eating at our house, saying, "( ´Д`)y━・~~ Why are you sleeping so peacefully? We're going out to have a delicious lunch in town!" After spreading the smell around, he scolds me and then says, "Oh no, I'm still feeling groggy from my return from Kyushu!" → You could have just left it in the locker... "Are you kidding me? You're going to make me feel groggy after drinking last night! I'll leave it at home and head to the wrong Umeda!" It's a really terrible story... After a long introduction like the old man from Takara Ren, I quickly decide to have a solo lunch (´・ω・`), so I opt for a light and simple udon. I get off at Hankyu and head straight to this restaurant in the food alley. I often go to the izakaya side, but it's my first time trying the udon here, at Shioya. ・ Kitsune Udon ¥380 Cash only payment → Show the receipt → Receive in about 30 seconds. They even provide homemade tempura bits, which is a nice touch (・∀・) The broth is not as strong as in the east, but it has a fairly rich color. It really hits the spot for a hangover body (*^○^*) The kitsune (fried tofu) is also big, with a nice sweetness soaked in. And the noodles are thick! It was a bit surprising, but they were chewy and delicious. If you're looking for cheap udon north of JR, this place is recommended. It's even better if you can use a transportation card or something. Thank you for the meal!

On the day of the typhoon, it seems that major commercial facilities will be closed, so I decided to have an early typhoon croquette. As expected, it was difficult to procure croquettes. Since there is no Fuji Soba in Osaka, I had the Pseudo Patlabor Croquette Soba with Inari Sushi and Curry Croquette. The toppings included a raw egg, Tokushima-grown raw seaweed, and inari sushi.

I visited a standing soba and udon shop in Shin-Umeda food alley for the first time in 5 months, around 8:15 on a weekend. It was almost full, maybe because of summer vacation, which surprised me a bit. I decided to try something different this time, but ended up ordering the croquette (curry flavor) udon for 400 yen, with added shichimi and tempura flakes. The udon noodles were thicker than I expected, but the taste was comforting as always. The tempura flakes soaked up the broth nicely, and I ended up finishing everything.

Ebi tempura chikuwa udon for 580 yen. This menu has 1.5 times more noodles compared to the regular menu, making it a great deal. The shop is like an evolved standing soba shop with a few seats available. You need to decide what you want to eat before entering, so you might end up hesitating at the storefront. The udon noodles are thicker than those at a certain chain store! They used to be hard with a core, but this time they were softer and easy to eat. If you feel like trying a different kind of udon, be sure to give it a try! You can order extra green onions and broth, but I'm not sure if it applies to all menus. I'll try it next time I go!

The New Umeda Food Street is quiet after 10 pm, with few people around. There are fewer open shops around here compared to before. This shop used to give off a vibe of being open early in the morning, but it seems they are open late at night too, which is convenient. It's a standing-only shop with 4 or 5 chairs and the rest is standing counter space. I chose the Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl Set for 980 yen and opted for cold udon. The pork cutlet's coating is crispy and good, although the integration with the meat is lacking. The half-cooked egg and the sweet and spicy broth are tasty. The udon has a nice texture and is slightly thick, providing a satisfying bite. The default grated radish is easy to eat and balances well with the broth. I sprinkled some free tempura flakes, but the grated radish absorbed them well, leaving a nice texture. The cucumber was very ordinary. Overall, it was a good meal.

In a not so spacious restaurant, it was packed with customers from 9 in the morning. I ordered the cold udon noodles and squeezed my way in to find out why it's so popular. The noodles had a weak texture but a good bite to them. As I ate, they absorbed the broth completely, changing color. The flavor was mild, almost like something a 2-year-old could eat, but the texture was great and it went down smoothly, making it delicious. The broth was made with a classic combination of dashi, soy sauce, and ginger. It was a masterpiece. If you start your day with this, you'll feel energized and ready to tackle anything.

After returning from a trip to Okinawa and passing through Kansai Airport, I felt like eating ramen and decided to visit Osaka Men-Tetsu, a popular ramen shop on Tabelog's top 100 list. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience and left without trying their ramen due to the poor customer service. Despite offering a refund without actually giving it, I was left feeling disappointed after having high expectations. In that state of mind, I visited another restaurant and ordered Oroshi Soba with Chikuwa Tempura. Within 2 minutes, I was served with a cold Oroshi Soba and piping hot crispy Chikuwa Tempura. The staff apologized for the short wait and I quickly devoured the delicious meal in 5 minutes. After returning the empty bowl to the dish return area, the staff member thanked me and I couldn't help but express my gratitude. They smoothly lifted my spirits and I left feeling thankful. Thank you for the wonderful meal and service.

Overtime saved me~ I was going to be late for work, so I quickly stopped by here~ Today was really appreciated! First, the foreign staff member was working hard! They took our order, but it took a while for the food to come because the other kitchen staff hadn't heard the order, but they were really trying their best!
