When the store first opened, I had to give up on buying because of the long line, but when I came to Ekimarche to shop, I saw that there was no line and I could buy without waiting, so I decided to try it out. It is a specialty store for Taiwanese tea and tapioca. Although I am not very familiar with Taiwanese tea, they offer a wide variety of Taiwanese teas that you can combine with tapioca. The name of the store, "18," comes from a rare type of Taiwanese tea. There are so many Taiwanese teas to choose from that it can be overwhelming, but since it was my first time, I chose the classic Taiwanese milk tea, Iron Goddess of Mercy (420 yen). You can choose one free topping from black sugar tapioca, grass jelly, or ai yu jelly, so I chose black sugar tapioca. You can also choose the sweetness level and amount of ice, so I went for recommended half sweetness and less ice. It only took about 1-2 minutes for my order to be ready. When they handed it to me with a straw, the black sugar and Taiwanese tea were already mixed. I had never tried Iron Goddess of Mercy tea before, but it was refreshing without any bitterness. The sweetness from the black sugar tapioca made it easy to drink. The tapioca pearls were a bit smaller compared to other stores, but they were chewy and there was a generous amount, so I was satisfied. Despite having less ice, the drink remained cold until the end. The tapioca remained soft in texture until the last sip. With the variety of Taiwanese teas and toppings, you can enjoy different flavors of tea, making it appealing to tea lovers. Personally, I enjoy tapioca milk tea, and while the size and texture of tapioca can vary between stores, the tea flavor is usually similar. However, here the Taiwanese teas are clearly categorized, allowing you to enjoy a variety of flavors without getting bored. Even though I am not very familiar with Taiwanese tea, as a fan of black tea, I became very interested. If there is no line next time, I would like to try other Taiwanese teas, fruit teas, and lattes as well.
