I bought this as a souvenir for the Bon festival (I'm visiting my hometown). It seems to be a popular item among locals, as my partner was buying it to take to their parents' house. This was my first time trying it, and it's a refrigerated dessert with a fluffy texture and a moist chocolatey taste. Since we visited during the Bon festival, the cakes were sold out in the morning. Luckily, they had some of their popular items in stock, so we were able to purchase them. It's located a bit off the main road, so if you happen to pass by, be sure to stop by.

I love this long-established confectionery shop in Ebetsu! Even when chilled in the refrigerator, the sponge cake is fluffy and moist, and the chocolate filling in between tastes like eating fresh chocolate. It's a great gift for others and also a treat for yourself at home. #Kurian Confectionery Shop #Melting Chocolat from Kurian #Ebetsu Gourmet #Sapporo Area Gourmet #Sapporo Area Souvenir #Destination is Hokkaido #Hokkaido Gourmet #Delicious Sweets #Hokkaido Sweets #Hokkaido Souvenir @poroco_sweets #Chocolate Sweets

I came to Ebetsu for a meal, so I searched and found this long-established confectionery shop that offers both Japanese and Western sweets. They have a Fruit Torte for 340 yen and a Juicy Melting Chocolate Heart for 220 yen. The shop is located in a corner with a parking lot next to it. The interior is long and narrow with chairs available. I usually don't choose fruit cakes, but I felt like trying it this time. The sponge was moist (although the description said "fluffy," it felt a bit humid?) and the cream was not too sweet, which was delicious. It had two layers of regular sponge and chocolate sponge. I must try their famous Melting Chocolate. It's a sponge cake that is somewhat bread-like. As the name suggests, it has a soft and melty hard chocolate inside, which adds a nice touch. The lady at the shop kindly mentioned about the rainy weather. The cakes are small but reasonably priced in the 300 yen range, making it a beloved shop in the town. Thank you for the meal.

Today I stopped by here on my way to work in Ebetsu from JR Nopporo Station in the morning. It's nice that they are open early in the morning. It's also convenient to park as it is close to National Route 12. As soon as I entered, I could smell the sweet scent of sweets. There are many sweets lined up in the showcase. First, I prioritized getting a dorayaki. My daughter prefers red bean paste, but they only had chunky red bean paste, so I had to go with that. Next, I secured the famous melting chocolate for my younger daughter. It seems that they sell out in large quantities during Valentine's Day, Christmas, and the holiday season. While looking for something for my spouse, I found a sweet called Yatsume Tengoku! It looks like a pie modeled after the famous Yatsume eel in Ebetsu. I decided on this one! When I brought it back as a souvenir, my younger daughter went for the melting chocolate from Juri-an, just as I had planned. My older daughter also enjoyed the dorayaki. I tried the Yatsume Tengoku out of curiosity, and the crispy pie with a mildly sweet filling was delicious. Thank you for the meal, I will visit again♪

I went to Juri-an Kashiyapo in Nopporo while visiting my parents' house over the weekend. I bought a cake as a souvenir for my parents' house, but the main reason was "Showa no Mori"! This is delicious, similar to Kibana, but I think this one is more delicious.

Today I had work in Ebetsu from the morning, and as I was walking from Nopporo Station to my workplace, I came across an old-fashioned sweet shop in the town. It seemed to be open even during the commuting hours, which caught my interest. They seemed to be open from 8 in the morning. There was a spacious parking lot next to the shop. Perhaps due to COVID-19 measures, the automatic door was open, and peeking inside, I saw a customer buying a large quantity of something. Intrigued, I entered the shop, and it turned out the customer was hoarding the melting chocolate from Juri-an. This piqued my interest even more. As I was staring at the empty trays, the shop assistant told me that they were restocking and soon brought out the melting chocolate from Juri-an. Apparently, it's the shop's signature item and is so popular that it sells out during events like Valentine's Day, Christmas, Golden Week, Obon, New Year's, etc. I couldn't resist buying it as a souvenir for my family! It was a coincidence, but I found a great product. After finishing work and returning home, I chilled it in the refrigerator and enjoyed it. Ah, it was delicious! The sweetness was mild, with a slightly bitter chocolate cream on a moist cake. I usually avoid sweet things, but I finished it in no time! I will definitely be a repeat customer. My work in Ebetsu just got more enjoyable. Oh, it was so delicious! Thank you, Juri-an! Such hidden gems are out there. Maybe it's better not to set the bar too high?

It's a series of gifts, isn't it? I don't remember creating such a series, but it's rare, isn't it, coming from Ebetsu City? Sometimes it's nice to see something different from the usual city stuff. I looked up "melting chocolate" and found rental furisode, but you can't swing your arms in those sleeves. Someone said, "This is delicious," and someone else replied, "Yeah, it's really good." It must be really tasty. "It's hard to open though," they laughed. Both of them really found it difficult to open. It's quite fatal, even though the fabric is fluffy. Is there chocolate cream inside? Certainly, it's delicious. Would I buy it myself?

【Takeout】Located in the residential and commercial area sandwiched between the Hakodate Main Line and Route 12 in the Nopporo area of Ebetsu City, this long-standing Japanese and Western confectionery shop is a gem. The shop is about a 5-minute walk from Nopporo Station, diagonally towards Route 12 from Asahidori along the Y-shaped intersection with Route 12. I revisited around 3 pm on December 3, 2020. Ebetsu is known for its wheat flour, so there are many Western confectionery and bakery shops here. This place has been beloved for a long time. A former Japanese confectionery craftsman I used to work with had exceptional skills, especially the wagashi here was superb. Every time I come here, I remember that and end up buying something. It's rare to run into other customers at a Japanese and Western confectionery shop in Hokkaido (on the surface), but on this day, there were two groups of customers ahead of me. Initially, I only planned to buy dorayaki, but I couldn't resist and added more. The chestnut dorayaki had a common chestnut bun exterior with white bean paste inside, a moist and sweet chestnut bun. Inside was a whole chestnut! And it was a Japanese chestnut. I didn't know and was taken by surprise (laughs). The Melting Chocola, as the name suggests, is a chocolate confection. It's the type of chocolate that Japanese people like, right? Inside the sponge cake is cream made from a local specialty found at tourist product exhibitions. While thinking it was a cliche, I easily tried a bite... and it was a bit of a cheat-level deliciousness. The bitter taste of the chocolate-flavored sponge cake for adults had an excellent balance of sweetness and texture, and the chocolate cream inside melted beautifully. My brain was melting. The sweetness, bitterness, and meltiness were too much. This chocolate sponge cake and chocolate cream are the kind that you can't resist. Before I knew it, I had eaten the whole piece. Why did I only buy one? Stupid me from three hours ago. But if I bought a lot, I might end up eating them all at once (00). Whether I buy more next time is on hold for my future self.

This place is located in Noboribetsu-cho in Ebetsu City, along a road that connects Noboribetsu Station on the JR Hakodate Main Line to Route 12. It's best to check the exact location on the map on the restaurant review website. Every time I pass by this restaurant in Ebetsu, I've been curious about it, so this time I finally visited. I parked my car in the parking lot next to the restaurant and went inside. The showcase inside the store displays a wide variety of Japanese and Western sweets. This time, I bought a dorayaki and an interestingly named "Yatsume Tengoku." Back at home, I first tried the dorayaki. It had a red bean paste filling and a sweet taste, with the skin being sweet as well, just like traditional dorayaki. Next, I tried the "Yatsume Tengoku." It had a soft pastry with a white bean paste-like filling inside, giving off a buttery flavor. It's a unique sweet with a hint of eel-like atmosphere. While nowadays confectionery shops are specialized, I hope this old-fashioned store that offers a mix of Japanese and Western sweets will continue to thrive.

I had received souvenirs from my younger sister before, but I had never visited the store. My wife wanted to eat skewered dumplings, so we went there, but they didn't have rice cakes, so we got a cake instead. It was called "White Cake" for 320 yen. I thought it was a shortcake, but it turns out the sponge only uses egg whites, and it is sandwiched with chopped white chocolate, hence the name "White Cake." It was a light cake, not too sweet, and just right. Maybe because it only uses egg whites, it doesn't feel lacking in any way? The crunchy texture of the chocolate is enjoyable. I'm not a fan of fruit, but the fruit was nicely coated with syrup and tasty as well. I had high expectations for the "Melting Chocolate" and it did not disappoint! It was 200 yen. My wife must have bought it without me noticing. It's like a sandwich with a creamy chocolate filling, and it's still deliciously gooey. It's definitely a popular item for a reason! I'll have to visit again for sure. Thank you for the meal.

Those who know, will understand... This snack looks just like a famous snack from Yamanashi prefecture!! The way it's wrapped and the overall appearance... it's called Nopporoshi, not Nopporo. When you taste it, the syrup is not black syrup, it's more like a soy sauce scent similar to the sauce on mitarashi dango... a bit confusing for the brain. And of course, the scent of kinako is also different, a bit wild. The mochi part is also completely different. Overall, it's not the same as that famous snack, but the appearance is very similar, so your brain gets confused. It's a delicious snack with a good balance, so I recommend enjoying it by saying "Wow" and having fun! Thank you for the meal!

I've been curious about this shop for a while! They have a parking lot next to the store, so you can shop with peace of mind even in snowy winters. I knew they had both Japanese and Western sweets, but the variety was more than I expected, and they all have a nice nostalgic taste with a mild sweetness that is comforting and delicious. Especially the omelette is filled with plenty of cream but has a light and smooth texture, making it easy to finish in one go. The crepe wrapping is also nice. The most popular almond cookie from the Showa era is sandwiched with white chocolate and has a crispy delicious taste. There are still more things I'm curious about, so I will definitely come back. Shops like this are important, aren't they?

On a certain weekday, I went on a little expedition to a cake shop in Nopporo-cho, Ebetsu City, with a name that seems to have been in business for a long time. The parking lot seemed to have space for a few cars next to the shop. Inside the shop, there was a wide space with a row of showcases displaying various cakes, creative Japanese sweets, and dried snacks. I decided to skip the overly sweet creative Japanese sweets and chose a few cakes that caught my eye. However, to my surprise, they were out of cream puffs! The staff recommended an eclair instead. I decided to take them home and try them. The "Cafe Mocha (290 yen)" had a gentle sweetness with a coffee cream (mocha ganache cream), chocolate, and sponge cake all coming together nicely. It was definitely worth buying. The "Apple Pie (300 yen)" had a crispy and buttery pie crust with a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness from the rich apple filling and jam-like texture. It was a type of apple pie with a unique impact that I had not experienced before. The "Dairy Cheesecake (200 yen)" was their original creation and seemed to be quite popular based on the quantity available. When I tried it later, I found it to be a light and moist cheesecake with a good balance of sweetness. I usually don't like heavy cheese flavors, but this one was just right for me. The "Melting Chocolate by Juri-an (200 yen)" was also popular and I decided to buy it. The gentle sweetness of the chocolate cream sandwiched in the middle of the chocolate sponge cake was enjoyable even for someone like me who doesn't like overly sweet desserts. Overall, I love not only the innovative cakes but also the traditional ones like these. Thank you for the delicious treats.

【Takeout】Located in the residential and commercial area sandwiched between the Hakodate Main Line and Route 12 in the Nopporo area of Ebetsu City, this long-established Japanese and Western confectionery shop is a favorite for its yokan and bite-sized traditional Japanese sweets. The shop is about a 5-minute walk from Nopporo Station, heading towards the Y intersection with Route 12 along Asahidori, about 50 meters from the intersection towards the station. Visited again on July 4, 2017 at 1:00 PM. The standout items at this shop are the yokan and bite-sized traditional Japanese sweets, which are expertly made. I purchased the Nama-Dora with red bean and cream, which was delicious. I believe Nama-Dora is a specialty of a shop in Tohoku, so it's impressive that the artisan here came up with it. The dorayaki was also delicious, with a nice balance of sweetness in both the dough and red bean paste. The other two items were also elegantly made, showing great attention to detail. I will definitely come back again.

When I went to Nopporo, I bought several items. When I first saw the shop, I was surprised by the large and modern-retro interior, which looked like an old-fashioned confectionery shop. I was also surprised by the variety of sweets they had, including Western sweets, Japanese sweets, baked sweets, and fresh sweets. This time, I bought an apple pie cake version, a melty chocolate (baked sweet), a pound cake (chestnut and sesame), a charcoal-baked coffee cupcake, a leaf pie, and a marble cheesecake. The apple pie cake was moist with a firm apple compote on the bottom, a sponge and almond cream sponge in the middle, and a slightly tart crust on the bottom. Unfortunately, the bottom broke when I tried to transfer it to a plate, which was quite sad. The taste was quite moist, so it would be good to have tea with it. The melty chocolate had a chocolate cream sandwiched between chocolate sponges, giving a rich and nostalgic taste. It was delicious when chilled, but I wasn't sure of the best way to eat it. Personally, I recommend green tea with it. Later on, I tried the melty chocolate again after leaving it in the refrigerator. This time, I chilled it completely and it was delicious! The sponge was sponge-like, and the cream was thick but gradually melted in the mouth with a fruity flavor. The pound cakes were moist with a butter or liqueur-infused texture that I quite liked. But still, I recommend having green tea with them (laughs). The cupcake had a coffee aroma and a sticky chocolate topping on a pound cake-like base. The leaf pie was a bit heavy and soggy, with a sweet underside and a crunchy texture. The Brick Story and Kumagera both had a crispy and fragrant taste from the soba flour used in the crust. The Brick Story had white sesame seeds and a traditional milk bean paste filling, while Kumagera had mochi and sweet beans. Both were nostalgic and satisfying, with Kumagera and the leaf pie being my favorites from this selection. Overall, they were all familiar and occasionally craving-inducing flavors. A delightful meal!
