This is Kibarashi in Tondabayashi. The location is on the 1st floor of an apartment building just a 3-minute walk from Kawashi Station. Nearby, there is a supermarket Sunday and a beauty salon, and there is parking space for about 30 cars that can be parked by entering from the bike shop off the old outer ring road. At the entrance of the shop, take off your shoes and there is a large aquarium on the right. The interior of the shop is surprisingly spacious and clean, giving off a high-end store atmosphere. There are counter seats, sunken kotatsu-style tatami seating for 4 tables, and a large hall for banquets in the back. Wow, there are some huge fugu fish here. Looks like it's about 1.7kg. This shop can also prepare natural fugu if reserved, but this time we'll go with the farmed one. Probably won't be able to tell the difference if it's for hot pot. There are also natural fugu being sold cheaply online, but not sure about the quality. Probably triple the price if bought at the market. Anyway, this time we ordered the live fugu course. First, we were served an appetizer. I later realized that this was an extra charge. The boiled dish is full of collagen, with a good firm texture. The sashimi is thin, so you sandwich 3-4 slices with chopsticks and eat it. The right amount of firmness and delicious with the ponzu sauce, which has a nice acidity that enhances the sweetness of the sashimi. The fugu tempura has a satisfying texture with a plump and firm flesh. The seasoning of the tempura is also well done. The fugu sashimi is so fresh and delicious. You can't see it in the photo, but the flesh is still moving. Fresh and tasty. Let's put the fish bones in the pot. This step determines the taste of the final porridge. While waiting for the pot to be ready, we ordered nigiri sushi - ikura, maguro, hamachi, and amaebi. And of course, we ordered the fin sake, which is fragrant and delicious. From the second cup onwards, we asked for the next sake. We transfer the fish to a plate and enjoy it right away. The flesh is tender and delicious, especially the part near the bones. The fugu essence has soaked into the tofu and vegetables, making them delicious. The combination with the ponzu sauce is excellent. Now, let's prepare the porridge. Remove any unnecessary vegetables and it's time for the porridge. The fugu porridge is absolutely delicious. The fluffy egg-topped porridge has a gentle flavor, and the soup, which is rich in umami, is a rewarding way to end the meal. It was so delicious that I finished every last bit. Finally, dessert is served. Fugu hot pot on a cold night is truly delicious. If I had to be picky, I would say it would have been nice to have grilled fugu and shirako. Thank you for the feast. I have also uploaded this on my original blog. Check it out!
