New Hankyu Hotel, located on the basement floor, has a gourmet buffet called "Olympia." I was able to make a reservation for the 13:30 session this time. Recently, it has been quite popular, and if you don't plan ahead, it's hard to get a reservation. We arrived at the restaurant a little before the reserved time. After confirming the reservation in advance, we entered the restaurant in groups. It was the final lunch session, but there were quite a few people. It seems that many people are looking forward to it. Now, let's enter. Perhaps due to COVID, all seats were not filled for this session. There is a certain order, but the table numbers are scattered. There are tables for 2 people, 4 people, and 6 people. The food includes Western dishes such as salad and bread, Chinese dishes, a drink corner, Western dishes, desserts, and Japanese dishes. First round. I start with the steak that I was looking forward to. The steak is tender, with a strong barbecue sauce flavor. The fried rice is well cooked, the mapo tofu is pleasantly spicy. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside, but tender on the inside. Quite satisfying. Next is the Japanese dishes. The sushi is small but the ingredients are fresh, the tempura is crispy, the mixed rice with ingredients cooked in broth is delicious, the corn soup is rich. And most importantly, the vegetable side dishes. The finishing is meticulous, bringing out the simple taste of the vegetables skillfully. The balance with the broth is good, and I felt that this is what it means to bring out the best of the ingredients. Is this what they mean by "bringing out the best of the ingredients"? I noticed people eating soba noodles around me. It's at the Chinese cuisine section. There were yakisoba noodles and soba in soup. The tofu dish in soy milk makes your mouth feel light. The shrimp chili dish surprisingly had tender shrimp. There was a slight spiciness afterwards. And again, steak. This time, I compared the barbecue and ponzu sauce. However, this time, whether it was the cut of meat or because I was starting to feel full, I didn't feel the umami as much as before. Unexpectedly, there was a pasta dish. They gave me a full serving because it was the last dish. I'm happy, but this amount made me feel quite full and heavy. Maybe it was because there was rice and another penne dish as well. And dessert. The Japanese-style Mont Blanc had rice crackers in it. The combination with the saltiness was good, but this is what "Japanese-style" means. The sweet potato with wings had a mix of Japanese and Western flavors. The nut chocolate was light, and the different texture was enjoyable. The pudding Bavarois was not to my liking. Ending with the yuzu sorbet was nice. There were several items I wanted to go back for, but after eating a variety of dishes, I was too full to eat more. Some dishes made me feel that it was indeed a hotel restaurant, different from what you would eat at a regular restaurant in town. It's nice to be able to eat without worrying about the price, thanks to it being a buffet. By the way, the checkout line was crowded when leaving the restaurant. It's good to settle the bill during a short break when resting your stomach, so you don't have to wait in line on your way out.
