It wasn't too crowded on the weekday I visited, but the next morning on Saturday there was a long line. (I had breakfast at the Japanese dining "Itsu no Akari" the following morning.) Fukuoka is known for its rich food culture, so it's hard to experience all the local delicacies in a limited time. Having a place where you can enjoy a variety of local dishes and ingredients little by little is great.

I was able to choose from three types of sauces, so I asked for the rare white soybean sprout sauce. The meat that appeared was more voluminous than I expected. Since it was white soy sauce, it went well with rice. Lunch comes with a drink, but on this day, I also had dessert as an addition. The seating space was wide, so I was able to enjoy a leisurely lunch.

It's been a while since I met up with my former colleagues for lunch. We decided to treat ourselves this time. There were both meat and fish dishes, all of them looked fancy and had plenty of vegetables, which was great. The only thing I felt was lacking was the firmness of the sea bream carpaccio at the beginning. Other than that, it was perfect! On Friday, a heavy rain special warning was issued, and I received an email around 10 p.m. canceling the Saturday performance. Feeling lost, I thought about taking an early shinkansen back home, but considering the situation in the Chugoku region, the shinkansen would likely be stopped as well. So, I decided to at least have a delicious lunch and tried to make a reservation at Kubotsu, but it was fully booked. I then found this restaurant on a reservation site at around 3 a.m. and booked the "Akagyu Lunch Full Course: 2,800 yen". As a special online reservation bonus, sparkling wine was included. I arrived at the restaurant around 12:10 p.m. after checking the situation at the Nishitetsu Hall where the performance was canceled. When I entered, there were no other customers. I was seated by the window overlooking the Nakagawa River. Unfortunately, the river was muddy due to heavy rain. The dishes from appetizers to dessert were all of high quality, but the standout was the sautéed kinmedai (golden eye snapper). The variety of side dishes made the mild kinmedai gradually change its appearance, making it a delightful dish. The dessert, made of almond and cocoa, was unexpectedly rich in jelly and fruits, and I finished it before I knew it. The casual interior and excellent service, typical of a hotel restaurant, made for a great value lunch. The course included: Amuse-bouche, Soup (corn potage that day), Fish dish (kinmedai sautéed), Aso Akagyu beef steak, Bread or rice (I chose bread), Dessert, Coffee or tea (I had milk tea).

I have visited a few times in the past and it is a relaxed place where you can unwind without feeling too formal. The staff are friendly in a good way. This time, I had the Aso Aka beef charcoal-grilled steak. The meat, aged just right, had a refreshing sweetness and a hint of grassy aroma. The meat was firm yet tender with a moderate amount of fat that was gentle on the body. The steak, with its subtle flavor, paired well with the Pinotage from the Bordeaux cellar.

Located inside the Hotel Nikko Huis Ten Bosch in Chushu, this restaurant can be used from morning till night for various occasions. The atmosphere inside is calm and relaxing. Even if you're not staying at the hotel, there are plenty of plans available for you to enjoy. This restaurant is unique in Hakata as it has a direct contract with the Aso "Otsuka Farm" in Kumamoto, so you can try "Aka beef" here. This time, I attended a lunch meeting organized by an acquaintance in a private room. For lunch, I opted for the regular set instead of Aka beef. The set included a plate of appetizers and salad, with a choice of main course (meat, fish, or pasta). I chose the Hakata Ichiban chicken for my main course. The appetizers included a salad, corn soup, sesame tofu, marinated horse mackerel, and a paste. The homemade bread came in two varieties. The grilled Hakata Ichiban chicken was simply seasoned with salt and cooked perfectly, tender and delicious. The fish dish was salmon meuniere with a citrus sauce, light and refreshing. For pasta, you could choose between clam oil pasta or tomato sauce pasta, both generously portioned. Dessert was a three-layer mousse, followed by coffee or tea to finish. The food was decent as it is a hotel restaurant, perfect for a leisurely meal. I would love to try the Aka beef next time if given the chance.

The "Fish Lunch" used to cost 1400 yen, but it has been upgraded since June! The new set includes appetizers, salad, dessert, and coffee for 1600 yen (tax included). The lunch set includes a plate with 3 appetizers, combination salad, mini soup, choice of bread or rice, mini dessert, and coffee or tea. The portion of fish is amazing (I had sea bass), and the dessert made with lychee was incredibly delicious. It's a very good value lunch set. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely go again!

During my trip to Kyushu, I stayed at the Hakata Excel Hotel Tokyu and tried their breakfast buffet at "Keyaki" restaurant. I didn't have high expectations for breakfast at Tokyu hotels in the past, but this buffet was surprisingly delicious! They had a wide variety of dishes, including local Hakata specialties like mentaiko, spicy pickled vegetables, and yakitori, as well as beef tendon soup curry, mixed rice, and freshly made tofu. The salad with chopped cabbage was also very tasty. I mainly had Japanese dishes, while my partner enjoyed the Western options and also praised the food. The breakfast is served from 6:00 to 10:00 and costs 1,900 yen for adults, 1,200 yen for elementary school students, and free for children under elementary school age. I was on a breakfast-included accommodation plan, but even if I had to pay 1,900 yen separately, I would say it was totally worth it for such a delicious breakfast.
