Year-end party led to weight gain... Today, I'll clean up and go for a healthy lunch!! So, I searched for "brown rice lunch Sakai" online and this place came up. Oh, I haven't been here before, but a friend told me that it's a new restaurant opened by the son of Fontana (a cafe with bread and cakes that used to be nearby). I was planning to visit someday. What's this, "daily changing brown rice lunch"? Sounds great! Alright, let's go now! o(^O^)/
Upon entering the restaurant, it had a spacious and bright atmosphere. The previous customers were groups of moms with kids and elderly ladies. Mostly women. When I arrived around 12 o'clock, it was not crowded, but by 12:30, there were a few groups waiting. I'll transcribe the lunch menu as it is:

I sat down and of course, ordered the daily changing brown rice lunch set. Looking at the bread basket in the restaurant, my daughter said she also wants to eat bread! So, I asked if it was possible, and it turns out you can have all-you-can-eat freshly baked bread for an additional 300 yen! By the way, all lunch breads except for the brown rice lunch are all-you-can-eat. And you can also opt for all-you-can-eat bread instead of brown rice in the brown rice lunch. (But that wouldn't be a brown rice lunch, right... "Daily changing lunch (brown rice or bread)" would be better^^;)
Oh, I see, the spaghetti lunch comes with all-you-can-eat bread as it was in the previous Fontana. It's not mentioned anywhere on the website or menu that bread is all-you-can-eat! They should promote it more to attract more customers! Now, my impression of the brown rice lunch. I don't think it was bad, but... it was a bit different from what I expected and hoped for f^^; First, this is not a brown rice lunch!! The rice definitely looked like a mixed grain rice (not sure if it's ten-grain or sixteen-grain) with some sprouted brown rice mixed in... This can't be called brown rice for sure~^^; It was a chewy and delicious mixed grain rice though...
The daily main dish was beef stewed in tomato sauce. The beef was so tender and juicy that it fell apart easily with chopsticks, and it was very delicious!! The tomato sauce with white kidney beans was also good, even though there was only one white kidney bean. And the two side dishes... huh? Two side dishes? Did we have two side dishes? Oh, one was salad... really?! Σ(゚□゚;) Counting salad as one of the two side dishes!? Hmm, that's a bit disappointing...(-公-) The other side dish was some kind of fried food... what? Fried gnocchi?? It looked like tiny chicken nuggets or bite-sized donuts, but the filling was mashed potatoes... It was fried, but cold. Not bad, but having only one side dish like this was a bit sad. The miso soup was not that great... Hmm... I was almost satisfied with the deliciousness of the beef stewed in tomato sauce, but writing this review later, it's a bit too mediocre...
When I heard "brown rice lunch," I thought it would be like Genzan or Vegi Table with veggie or healthy dishes, but it's just a regular daily changing lunch with brown rice (which is not even brown rice). As expected, in South Osaka, GRAN is probably the only place for a healthy lunch... Anyway, the all-you-can-eat bread was quite good. The croissant was crispy and delicious. The onion cheese soft bread was tasty. The stick-shaped cheese bread was crunchy and fragrant like a snack. The sweet potato and raisin bread with chocolate chips on top was confusing but tasty. The salmon bread and tuna bread-like bread were good too! I think I tried these 5 types, but there were still many more varieties. Not particularly delicious, but still better than Saint Marc's, I'd say. This equals...
