Fukuoka's pioneering Sichuan-style Chinese and spicy noodle restaurant, "Daiming Tantanmen." Since 1996, this restaurant has been serving authentic Sichuan cuisine at the Chinese restaurant "Daiming Huoguo Cheng," and now has several dining-style branches in the city. The specialties are tantanmen and mapo tofu. While I haven't tried the tantanmen much, I have been a repeat customer for the mapo tofu, Sichuan beef noodles, and pig's feet noodles. This time, I visited the Tamura branch in Sawara-ku, Fukuoka. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with a cafe-style setting and about 10 parking spaces on-site. It's popular among young customers, as it is located near Fukuoka Dental College and Fukuoka Nursing University. During lunchtime, set meals seem to be popular. First, I purchased a meal ticket from the machine. Here are the recommended menu items. This time, I tried the noodle dishes. The calm interior of the restaurant has table seating. The Sichuan motsu (offal) noodles cost 860 yen. Similar to the Sichuan beef noodles, the base soup is light, but with a generous blend of chili oil, it becomes a slightly heavier and spicy soup. It is a spicy noodle dish with Sichuan-style simmered offal on top. The pork offal, which is not greasy, has a chewy texture. The noodles are thin and flat, allowing the soup to mix well. If you finish the soup, it won't be extremely spicy, so I enjoyed it until the end. You can adjust the spiciness with the chili oil on the table if it's not spicy enough. There are also non-spicy menu items available. This is the Wonton noodles, a Chongqing specialty, with five large wontons on top, costing 820 yen. The wonton filling is quite sticky, perhaps due to the high proportion of binder. The soup has a light flavor with a slight aroma of dried shrimp. The noodles are thin. Truly a Fukuoka-style Chinese restaurant! Noodle dishes come with the option of extra noodles. You can get extra noodles for 180 yen, and the type of noodles varies depending on the menu. This is the extra noodles for the Wonton noodles, so they are thin noodles. Thank you for the meal. Most customers around me were enjoying the set meals with tantanmen or mapo tofu.
