I visited "Shigepan" after passing by the shop the night before. The shop offers a variety of unique bread with interesting names, all inspired by customer suggestions. The shop started by taking requests from friends and now has around 110 different types of bread. I visited on a Monday at 11:51 AM and there were only 2 other customers in the shop. I bought some unique bread including the Black Croissant, the popular Kamayatsu (Croque-monsieur), the Satomi (Chikuwa Tuna), and the Natto bread. The Black Croissant had a striking appearance but tasted good. The Kamayatsu was the No.1 ranked bread with a generous amount of homemade bechamel sauce, cheddar cheese, and ham. The Satomi was a chikuwa tuna bread with a spicy flavor that I enjoyed. Surprisingly, the Natto bread with fried bread and natto filling was also delicious, maybe because I like natto.

After having morning ramen at Toshiichan Ramen, I went to this small van bakery nearby. They have a small grilling area in the back. When I looked at the products inside, I noticed that they didn't have my favorite hard breads like baguettes or German bread, mostly just baked goods. And they all have strange names attached to them. I bought the Satomi (230 yen) and Hayashi (220 yen). Satomi is a chikuwa tuna bread, while Hayashi is a tuna bread with a rice ball-like filling. It seems like the creator of each bread is named after it. You can't eat in, so I had them as a snack at 3 o'clock. They were quite delicious. This bakery opens at 9 am. Although it says they sell as soon as they are baked, I always thought bakeries were early morning places. Maybe it's different here? Thank you for the meal.

There are many unique breads with unusual names being sold! I bought four items: Oshiruko Bread, Nao's Condensed Milk French Bread, Dutch-kun's Walnut and Raisin Dutch Bread, and Otama-san's Kinako Bread. They are all very delicious. The staff is also kind, and it's a wonderful shop.

I had soup curry and while walking, I found a flashy bakery. I live in Susukino, so I have bought bread from "Night Shigepan" a few times, but I'm not sure if this is the main store. I entered this store and bought bread for breakfast the next day. I love melon bread. The naming of the bread at this shop is weird and easy to remember. I enjoyed it the next morning. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely visit Shigepan again!

The melon pan and cream pan were not great. The bakery seemed to have a lot of bland bread. However, the curry pan and croque monsieur had a good balance of sweetness from the bread and saltiness from the fillings. I would recommend savory bread over sweet pastries.

On my day off, I had to go shopping and thought I might as well buy something for lunch while I'm out. I haven't been to a bakery in a while, so I searched for one. That's when I came across this place where customers can request ideas and names for the bread. It's a popular place that has even been featured on TV, though I hadn't visited before starting my food blog. I saw this as fate and decided to check it out. I arrived at the shop around 10:30 AM and it was bustling with customers. Inside, there were delicious-looking breads with unique names given by the creative minds behind them. I purchased a few popular items and some that caught my eye: 1. "Kamayatsu" (Croque-Monsieur): This French chef's specialty sandwich features a special béchamel sauce, cheddar cheese, and ham sandwiched between a soft and chewy dough. The special béchamel sauce pairs well with the ham and the use of cheddar cheese adds a rich and flavorful taste. 2. "Tachige" (Croissant): This large and satisfying croissant has a crispy exterior and a moist and soft interior. It has a fragrant buttery taste and a good balance of wheat flavor. The baking is done perfectly without any burnt smell. 3. "Satomi" (Chikuwa Tuna): A soft and fluffy bread filled with tuna mayonnaise and chikuwa. The texture of the chikuwa and the saltiness of the tuna mayonnaise blend well together, making it delicious. 4. "Nao" (Chikuwa Mentaiko): A chikuwa bread with mentaiko mayonnaise instead of tuna mayonnaise. The saltiness of the mentaiko and the spicy kick make it equally delicious. All the breads were easy to eat and delicious, and I would love to visit again if I get the chance. Thank you for the meal!

I visited Shigepan when I had to work on a Saturday. I had been wanting to go there after seeing it on TV, and finally had the chance to go. There is no parking lot, so be careful. I bought the "Nakano" (melon bread) for 130 yen, "Kurichan" (chestnut bun) for 180 yen, and "Tegopan" (white bread) for 130 yen. The names of the bread here are unique and there are even more impressive names. The bread was delicious.

I wanted to go eat curry the day before, but ended up not being able to, so I came looking for curry bread instead (because it's right across from where I had breakfast). The Pullman had a surprising amount of potatoes in it, the biggest I've ever seen. It was really amazing. Potato lovers rejoice. It had a fruity and sweet type of curry. It was wrapped in a paper bag in the hot snack corner, so I couldn't see it clearly, but when I opened it, I was surprised by the unusual crust. It wasn't greasy, more like a curry donut. I reheated it and ate it, the outside was crispy, and the inside was chewy, which I liked. It was a type of curry bread that I enjoyed! And seriously, so many potatoes! (I still can't get over it). The Taketchi (custard) cream bread was flatter than I remembered, like the big cream breads sold in supermarkets. It was big, but the cream was unevenly distributed and lacked in some parts. The custard cream was pudding-like, with a strong milk flavor, which was a bit disappointing, but I still recommend it for cream lovers. The Odama-san fried donuts had a variety of options, which made me happy as a fried donut lover. The dough was chewy and dusted with soybean flour, and when heated, it became even more chewy. I really liked this texture! It reminded me of Pon de Ring...! Even though there was a lot of soybean flour on it, the flavor was not very strong (why?). There were mostly soft breads, so I didn't pay much attention, but I made various new discoveries and that was nice. It was good that they wrote the names on the receipt... I would think about what kind of bread to get, but I love hard bread, so that's a must for me. (It's okay, they won't be commercialized).

It's a famous bakery! Located in a not-so-prominent area on Nishitonden Street, but constantly crowded with customers. Shigepan is popular not only for its delicious taste, but also for its interesting bread names! No matter how many times I go, I can never remember them. Today, I bought the red tea sandwich bread, Yuji, and fig bread for the first time! Yuji is a French bread with basil chicken. The fig bread, as the name suggests, contains figs, cream cheese, and salted caramel. They are all consistently delicious! The French bread is just right in texture, not too hard, with a satisfying bite. Thank you for the meal!

During a regular check-up at the university hospital, I had some free time so I decided to explore the area. I came across a bakery called "Shigepan," which I had visited before in Susukino for their evening menu. It turns out that this is their main store. I learned that most of their breads have names of people, except for a few items, based on the creator of the bread. The staff were all very friendly and allowed me to take photos without any issue. I ended up buying two items after struggling to decide: "Hirokatsu" (180 yen) which is a crispy ham cutlet sandwiched with curry sauce in a fluffy butter roll, and "Nakano" (130 yen) which is a melon bread, a favorite of my companion. The crunchy cookie dough on top is not too sweet and pairs well with the fluffy bread. I noticed that the sandwich bread "Barubizon" seen here is used in a nearby coffee shop, so I plan to visit there next. Thank you, Shigepan, for the delicious treats!

Shigepan. It's a simple but good name for a bakery that clearly indicates it's a bread shop. There's also a place nearby in Susukino called "Night Shigepan," which is open from 4 pm to 4 am, an unusual business hours for a bakery. This is the main or original store. Shigepan is famous locally for its unique bread names. For example, I tried the "Yuusuke," which is a curry bread with a cutlet inside. They offer a reheating service at checkout, so I had it reheated and ate it outside the shop. The cutlet is coated, and the bread has a texture that feels like part of the coating. The combination of cutlet, curry, and bread creates a cohesive taste. It was quite delicious. I saw they had other curry bread options, so I'm looking forward to trying a different one at Night Shigepan next time.

I am refraining from dining inside unfamiliar restaurants due to concerns about the coronavirus. This is the Curry Bread by Yuusuke Katsu. It's a unique item that you don't see often. I heated it in the oven and the outside is crispy with a thick dough, very satisfying to eat. I paired it with milk, as I believe Anpan and milk make a great combination. The Croissant here has a refreshing sweetness when you take a bite, I really like the Croissants here. However, the Natto bread was not to my liking. Frying bread with natto just didn't work for me. This was the first time I had bread that made strings when I ate it, haha. The names of the people are used in the naming of the bread, and the content of the bread is said to be devised by the customer. They create a bread you want to try, and even give it a name! I might come up with something too. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

While strolling around, I unexpectedly came across the famous bakery, Shigepan. Their popular No.2 item is the Basil Chicken bread, which is made with basil-flavored chicken breast. The French bread dough is light and perfectly balanced. They also have a Melon Croissant with a crispy texture. All their products are named based on customer requests, and customers even have the unique privilege of naming new items. The owner, Mr. Tachihara, trained at a bakery in Mie Prefecture run by a French chef before starting his own business. One of their popular items, the Pullman (Curry Bread), was sold out when I visited. Thank you for the delicious treats.

I visited around 10:30 on the weekend. There was only one other customer, so I was able to shop slowly. I had a hard time deciding, but ended up choosing the classics. Isn't natto a classic choice! The bread was not as moist as at specialty stores, but it had a nostalgic taste like the bread served in school lunches.

I felt like having delicious bread at night, but most bakeries close early so I gave up. However, I searched and found this shop that is open even late at night. It seems to be a popular place too! I went there immediately and although there were other customers, I was able to enter right away. The name of the bread is interesting! Does it express the image of a bakery in the night city? The logo and colors of the shop are designed in a way that is easy for women to visit. I bought the "Dad's Curry Bread" and took it home. The bread dough was thick, but not overly heavy, and the curry filling was the chunky type that I like. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Wandering newbie curry maniac, dining alone middle-aged man here. On Saturday, I spent about 3 hours waiting in line to finally get my flu shot. It took longer than I expected, but the price was actually cheaper than I heard from others. After that, I had some errands in the city. Since it was already past lunchtime, I decided to visit "Shigepan," a bakery I hadn't been to in a while. The shop has a unique system where customers can request a specific type of bread and get naming rights for it. I had a hard time finding the curry bread I wanted among the various options displayed. Eventually, I asked for help and found the curry bread in individual packaging. I bought the "Yusuke (Cutlet Curry Bread)" for 260 yen and the "Pullman (with potatoes)" for 230 yen, totaling 490 yen. The bread was a bit pricey, but I decided to give it a try. I took the bread home, toasted it in the oven, and then tried it. The "Yusuke" had a tasty cutlet and mild curry flavor, while the "Pullman" had potatoes and a slightly spicier curry. Overall, the bread was good, but the individual packaging affected its texture. Despite this, I enjoyed the unique flavors of each bread.

Feasting Journey Part 7: Crossing Hokkaido (Final destination Sapporo). This bakery operates only at night, fitting into the nightlife scene of Susukino. Located in the heart of Susukino, it's an interesting bakery that blends into the ecosystem of the area. On this day, I had already eaten 7 meals and thought I couldn't eat anymore, but I mustered up the last of my strength to make it the 8th meal! I purchased the bread and ate it the next day since I was already full that night. The review of the purchased bread is as follows: #Curry Bread 300 yen: The curry filling inside the bread is full of ingredients, with chunks of potatoes. Although the price is high, the generous amount of filling provides a satisfying eating experience. Unlike the overpriced bread in Tokyo, this curry bread is worth the price. It truly tastes like a curry bread with a lot of curry inside, which was really good! #Night Butterfly 70 yen each x4 (Butter, Purple Sweet Potato, Banana, Cheese): Despite the unclear name, these are mini croissants. They are delicious, and the variety of flavors to choose from adds an entertaining element. Perfect as souvenirs for the night butterflies, as the name suggests. They were simply delicious! Susukino has these mysterious and delicious shops that should not be underestimated! I especially liked the curry bread here. It had plenty of vegetables, truly embodying the blessings of Hokkaido. If you're staying at a hotel in Susukino and planning to have a room party, buying bread from this shop could be a good idea! I thought their deli bread was at the level of a top-notch shop!

The 180 yen Kama Yatsu is like a clock mousse, it's deliciously intense. I forgot the name of the other one... The Chicken Teriyaki Sandwich-like one. The Curry Bread. The Salt Bread. They are all delicious and the naming is good. Next time, I will make sure to remember the names before leaving.

Shigepan Kodomo offers a variety of humorous breads that children would love. Each bread has a funny name that I enjoy reading every time I visit. I have tried many different types of bread, but the sandwich with katsu in it is delicious. It's simple, yet filling, perfect for those mornings when you oversleep. Since there aren't many bakeries or restaurants in the area, I think this bakery is loved by the locals!

I visited for the first time and was amazed by the variety of breads available! Seeing so many delicious breads lined up lifted my spirits. I bought a variety of breads and tried them. From the classic ones to the natto bread, everything was delicious... Among them, my favorites were the butter roll and natto bread. The natto bread had a crispy outer layer and natto inside! That was great(*^^*) However, I personally felt that it could have had a bit more flavor. I think adding white sesame seeds and chili oil would make it extremely delicious... I'll try making it myself next time! So, I'll be visiting again soon( ˊᵕˋ )♡ There is no parking lot, so you can use the coin parking across the street or the one diagonally across. Please do not park in front of the store as it may cause inconvenience to the neighbors! By the way, I think the coin parking diagonally across is cheaper.
