Today, I met up with my colleague in the morning and headed straight to lunch at Folks on the way back to the office. It was my first time going there since returning to Kansai, and I can't remember if I ever went to Folks during my time in Tokyo. I decided to go with the regular lunch menu instead of the daily special, and ordered the Chicken Steak Lunch for 979 yen, along with the Salad Bar for 275 yen, and the Soup Bar for 198 yen. It was neither good nor bad.

The double cheese hamburger was delicious and satisfying. The restaurant had a parking lot and was child-friendly, making it surprisingly comfortable. The hamburger had plenty of cheese inside and out, which was a nice touch. They also offer soup, salad, and freshly baked bread as optional extras, making it a recommended choice for those with big appetites.

Chicken steak lunch for 869 yen, salad bar for 220 yen. I wanted to eat a lot of vegetables cheaply, but it seems like salad bar restaurants are becoming less common. For me, it's essential to have delicious tomatoes and for them to be affordable. After researching online, I found this place and Bronco Billy as good options. It seems like salad bars may not be possible without chain stores for bulk buying. They also have cherry tomatoes, Caesar salad, and coffee jelly. It would be nice if they had fruits too. They open at 10 am for lunch service and when I left at 11 am, the place was quite crowded. Don't underestimate family restaurants, I achieved my goal and I'm satisfied.

A few minutes walk from Kami-Shinjo Station. Had lunch here today. The interior of the restaurant has only table seats, but it is more spacious than it looks from the outside. The main menu consists of steak and other meat dishes. I ordered the daily lunch special, which was Herb Grilled Chicken with Lemon Sauce. It comes with rice, but you can have unlimited refills of bread, so I opted out of the rice. Let's dig in! The salad bar offers about 15 different items. Some of the items seemed a bit dry as there were no humidifiers, but they do require you to wear plastic gloves, which is good. There are 3 types of soups available at the soup bar, including corn soup, which might be appealing to kids. The croissant bread was crispy and delicious. The main meat dish was moist and tender. The seasoning may not pair well with the rice though. Overall, it was a satisfying meal! The highlight of this restaurant is the all-you-can-eat side dishes. The bread is freshly baked in the store, so if you time it right, you can enjoy it hot from the oven. However, the salad bar was a bit disappointing. Not only were some items dry as mentioned earlier, but the selection was not very appealing, and the salad plates were quite small, making it difficult to pile on the toppings all at once. Considering the current situation, it can be quite a hassle to go for refills, so it would be nice if they provided larger plates like some other chain restaurants.

After my prenatal check-up, I went to Folks with my two children. The inside of the restaurant was decorated in a cute Halloween style. They had a limited-time Halloween special Double Cheese Hamburg, with pink cheese inside. My eldest daughter and I chose this option. My youngest daughter, being a toddler, ordered the children's hamburger set. The salad bar comes with meat dishes, and if you order a rice or bread set, you can have unlimited rice and a variety of bread to enjoy. The bread here is freshly baked in the store, but unfortunately, there is no toaster, so you have to time it right to get it warm. The hamburgers were delicious and had a consistent taste. The pink cheese inside and the cheese on top melted nicely. The rice was soft and tasty, appealing to everyone. The salad bar also had two types of fruits, which served as a nice dessert after the meal. Oh, and by the way! When my youngest daughter accidentally knocked over a child's chair, the staff quickly responded and helped. Thank you very much! Thank you for the delicious meal today.

It was a meal in a wheelchair, but they set up a proper seat for me and the wide aisles made it easy to move around in the wheelchair.

I often go to this restaurant, but on this day, since it was 2:00 PM, right after the busy hours, I felt that the staff (especially the person who seemed to be in charge) was a bit tense. The bread and salad were not being replenished fast enough, and even though it's a salad and bread buffet, there weren't many options available. Also, I understand that it may be due to the current situation, but the taste of the meat was not as good as usual.

The staff at the restaurant were kind and the food was incredibly delicious!

It's been a long time since I last visited Forks. When I was a child, Forks was a bit of a status symbol, but now it seems to be part of the Yoshinoya group. I visited for a late lunch and ordered the Lamb Chop Grill (2,318 yen incl. tax), Fried Potatoes (302 yen incl. tax), and a draft beer (572 yen incl. tax). I heard they have a salad bar, so I helped myself to some salad. The variety of vegetables was impressive, and I was happy to see toppings like plums and raisins. The lamb meat was bone-in. I used a fork to cut the meat off the bone and ended up picking up the bone to gnaw on it. The lamb had a unique flavor but was light and delicious. As expected from a steakhouse, it came with demiglace sauce. The fried potatoes were tasty too, but with the salad bar available, they might not have been necessary. Forks, now with only around 40 stores, holds many memories for me, and I hope it continues to thrive. I look forward to visiting again for a late lunch. Thank you for the meal.

We would pass the time at a certain SNK World arcade until our turn came. This time, we went to a restaurant in Awaji. We ordered a steak lunch, which comes with a salad bar, soup bar, and all-you-can-eat bread. It's like a dream come true. I've always liked the corn soup here... I wonder how many times I went for seconds this time... The salad is also all-you-can-eat, so the satisfaction level is high. The meat is priced differently depending on the cut, but I enjoyed the low-fat meat in line with the current low-carb, high-protein trend. It was a delicious meal.

Lunch on this day was in Kami-Shinjo. It's "Family Steakhouse Folks," located south of the station. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk from Kami-Shinjo Station. When viewed from the opposite side, you can see the sign for the 500 yen limited weekday lunch. The restaurant has separate smoking and non-smoking sections, with a spacious interior. I waited about 5 minutes at the entrance, but there was still plenty of room inside. There were many office workers and mothers with children. I was probably the only one dining alone. As a non-smoker, I was guided to the non-smoking area and checked the menu. There were 6 types of 500 yen weekly lunch specials, and this week it was hamburger curry. Rice can be served in a large portion for free! I ordered the 500 yen hamburger curry with a large portion of rice. After waiting for 7-8 minutes, the hamburger curry with a large portion of rice arrived! It was more than I expected. The shredded cabbage with mayonnaise was served on one side. On the other side, there was the hamburger and curry. The curry was poured so much that the hamburger was not visible. I started by finishing the shredded cabbage and then moved on to the main hamburger curry. When I cut the hamburger, the meat juice overflowed. Since it's originally a steak and hamburger restaurant, the hamburger was delicious as expected! I finished the large portion of rice with curry and hamburger, a combination that kids would love. It was a satisfying meal for both kids and adults. It felt like a great deal to enjoy all this for just 500 yen.

I received a birthday special chocolate cake ♡ I had been to Volks before when my second daughter had some free time due to her BCG vaccination. We had the salad bar that time, but this time, since my eldest daughter is on summer vacation, we went together and had bread and soup without the salad bar. We enjoyed the main meat dishes as well, and I definitely exceeded my calorie intake just at this place (´∀｀) Well, with all-you-can-eat bread, you can't really worry about calories, right? It was delicious, but it was hot because the air conditioning seemed to be broken ~ (^_^;) Also, as expected from a family restaurant, I was happy to see that they had diaper changing tables for children properly installed. This way, you can easily go with children without any worries!! I would like to go again when it gets cooler.

Folks along the Takatsuki Line in Kami-Shinjo has a large parking lot, which is convenient as there are fewer family restaurants in the area now. It can get quite busy during weekday lunch hours, with around 10 groups waiting. However, once inside, it's not too crowded, and the staff seems to be struggling to keep up. The grilled hamburger steak is priced at 1280 yen and is decent, although there are other meat bars in the area offering better quality at a similar price. The salad bar has improved in quality, with even the frozen okra tasting better than before. The bread is now all-you-can-eat, and they replenish the freshly baked items regularly. Overall, the food is not outstanding but not bad either. With the increasing number of meat bars in the area, it would be nice to see Folks step up their game a bit more. Bikkuri Donkey is also located along the Takatsuki Line and offers a better value for money, although some may find their food a bit greasy.
