The strong spiciness allows you to enjoy the contrast of sweet and spicy flavors. The owner originally had a background in Japanese cuisine. He began to focus on curry as the ultimate dish that can stand alone. When it comes to the signature menu of "Shirogintei," it's the "tonkatsu curry," in other words, pork cutlet curry. On this day, I tried it with these toppings. ★Tonkatsu Curry ¥950 ・Spinach + ¥200 ・Raw egg + ¥50 With each bite, it starts off sticky sweet, but gradually the spiciness escalates, leaving a spicy hot impression. In the world of Western-style curry, where many curries are slow-cooked to finish, "Shirogintei" uses a method of not simmering for long but aging it in the refrigerator for two nights. The depth of flavor, fruity notes, and the sharpness of spices and aromas are likely due to this method. The tonkatsu has a crispy, thin coating. Furthermore, they use pork loin with only lean meat, removing the fat, so there is no heaviness in the stomach. The spinach and raw egg add further variety to the taste. The taste was as good as the reviews said. It was initially sweet, but the spiciness that followed was amazing. Among all the curries I've had, this one ranks in the top three in terms of deliciousness. The pork cutlet was tender and the size was easy to eat with the rice. Also, there was Fukujinzuke and onions, and the onions went really well with the curry! I noticed that quite a few people were ordering the cheese topping, so I think I'll try that next time. I arrived a little after 12:30, and there were about 7 people waiting in line. It's definitely popular. They take your order while you're waiting, so it's a good idea to decide what you want in advance. The turnover is fast, so you get seated pretty quickly. As usual, I ordered curry rice with spinach topping. It was incredibly delicious. I like my spinach a bit soft. The fukujinzuke and pickled onions were also amazing. I paid with PayPay quickly. Thanks! I ended up having curry three times without planning!

The line was quite long. Even before the store opened, there was a long line. They guided us in the order we lined up. Orders also came out in the order we lined up. It's quite hot to wait outside before the store opens. I recommend bringing a parasol or hat. On this day, I ordered spinach curry. It was just before the end of the lunch break, but there was still a line. I decided to try it out and it was delicious! Similar to the famous Indian curry in Osaka, it starts off sweet when you take a bite, then the spiciness gradually kicks in and you start to sweat. I think this place has more depth of flavor and richness compared to Indian curry. I ordered the pork cutlet curry and the cutlet was tender and tasty! It's no wonder this place is considered one of the top restaurants.

Located near Honmachi Station, this curry shop is my favorite in Osaka. The area around Honmachi is a fierce battleground for curry shops, with places like Level Curry, Botan Curry, Ghar, and a bit further away Nidomi, all known for their delicious curry. Among them, this shop serves traditional, straightforward curry. The interior has a counter surrounding the kitchen, with seats close together, and onion pickles and fukujinzuke (pickled vegetables) on the table. The curry has a thick roux with a deep flavor from the sweetness of vegetables and a strong spiciness that lingers. It's addictive, making you want to keep eating. I personally recommend adding spinach as a topping (for those who don't like eggs or cheese on their curry). The soft boiled spinach pairs perfectly with the curry. The fukujinzuke on the table has a classic sweet and sour taste, while the onion pickles provide a balance of sweetness and acidity to complement the spiciness of the curry. In summary, this renowned curry shop is a must-try. They also accept PayPay as payment.

I arrived at 11:00 on Saturday and waited for about 45 minutes under the scorching sun. Of course, I was the first in line. It was my second visit. Today, I had cheese, spinach, raw egg toppings, and ordered a large serving. The curry has a perfect balance of spiciness that becomes addictive. It was very delicious. Next time, I want to order a double spinach with cheese, 2 shrimp fries, and a full menu of tonkatsu.

I watched a video on a certain YouTube channel where they were eating curry from a shop called Juichi-tei, and it caught my interest so I decided to go there. Unfortunately, the shop was closed. Later on, I found a curry with a very similar look on the top page of Tabelog, and that led me to this place. It's a random story, sorry. Now, I arrived at the shop after a 5-minute walk from Honmachi Station, but there was a line of 5-6 people waiting. After a while, more customers came and went, and I was able to enter without waiting more than 10 minutes. I ordered the large serving of pork cutlet curry with an egg on top and spinach topping, for 1400 yen. It seemed like a man was in charge of all the cooking from where I was sitting. The curry was brought to me in 7-8 minutes after ordering. It was neatly arranged on an oval plate. The pork cutlet was finely cut for easy eating. The curry had a thick texture, and at the first bite, I felt a significant sweetness, but then a peppery spiciness quickly followed. This spiciness was gradually building up. However, the egg yolk added a smoothness that balanced it out. The spinach seemed to be lightly blanched, with a crunchy texture remaining. In Osaka, there are old curry shops where this sweetness followed by spiciness is common, and once you get used to it, you might get hooked on this curry.

Arrived on a scorching Saturday at 11:15. Since no one was lining up yet, I waited in a shady spot a little away. Around 11:30, about 4 people started lining up, so I hurried to join the line. By the opening time at 11:45, there were about 20 people lined up. There are around 16 seats in the restaurant, so even if you come before opening, there is a possibility that you may not be able to get in on the first round. There is no shade in front of the restaurant, so it would be good to bring a parasol or something in the summer. [Order Details] Spinach curry with raw egg topping ¥1,000 [Taste Impressions] After the first 5 bites, I felt addicted to the sweet and spicy flavor of the roux combined with the texture of the spinach. Then the spiciness gradually built up and I thought it might be too much for me, but by mixing in the raw egg topping and the Fukujinzuke & onion on the table, I was able to enjoy a change in taste while also toning down the spiciness. [Atmosphere of the Restaurant] The restaurant is clean and the service is good even though it's a one-person operation, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining. When you enter in the first round, they take orders starting from the end, which was easy to understand and nice. [Overall] Overall, I was satisfied, but as someone who isn't particularly good with spicy food, I felt it may not be a place I would frequent. However, it seems like a perfect choice for when you're in the mood for something spicy. I would like to visit on a cooler day next time.

The spinach curry seems to be popular as well, as they boil the spinach after taking the order. The appearance of the katsu curry is nothing special, but when you take a bite, you understand the meaning of the sweetness followed by spiciness that is often talked about. It is indeed spicy but delicious. The onions and Fukujinzuke (pickles) served with it do a great job, especially the sweet onions that go well with the curry. The three pieces of beef in the curry were tender and tasty. This restaurant lives up to its reputation as a top-notch establishment.

Today, I had a delicious curry for lunch in Yodoyabashi where I was working! The tonkatsu curry for 950 yen was amazing with homemade onion pickles and fukujinzuke. The sweetness of the fruit, the umami of the onion, the aroma and spiciness of the spices, and the sweet and spicy curry sauce all paired perfectly with the freshly fried tonkatsu, cut into bite-sized pieces. I had been craving spicy food but couldn't eat Ma Po Tofu because it was too spicy. I remembered that Shirogane-tei, a place I had never visited before, was nearby. I decided to visit for the first time. The exterior and interior of the restaurant were stylish, and I noticed that there were also female customers dining alone. I tried the tonkatsu curry, which had a good balance of spiciness and sweetness, with the spiciness slightly overpowering. The curry at Shirogane-tei comes with both sweetness and spiciness at the same time, unlike Indian curry where the spiciness comes later. It felt like I was able to fully enjoy the curry. Even though there was always a wait, the customer service was polite and sweet yet spicy, making it my favorite curry place. It was my first time trying curry, so when I asked for a recommendation, they suggested the tonkatsu curry, which is their most popular dish. The freshly fried cutlet was easy to eat and they even cut it into pieces for me, showing their kindness. It was extremely spicy! However, the flavor was strong and delicious. I'm not good with spicy food, so it was too intense for me and my stomach suffered. The taste was really good though, so next time I go, I want to ask for less sauce and lots of toppings. On this day, I had spinach curry with cheese and egg toppings. I think even with 2 servings of cheese and 2 eggs, it would have been better. It was really spicy, but the taste was truly delicious.

It was my first visit for weekend lunch. The owner was working alone, so it's recommended to go when you have plenty of time. I arrived 15 minutes before opening and there was already a line of over 20 people. I had to wait for about 40 minutes before getting inside. I ordered curry with tonkatsu, cheese, and raw egg toppings. The curry was cooked right in front of me and served within a few minutes. The curry sauce was sweet at first, then spicy. It was a spicy flavor that made me want to take the next bite right away. The sweetness and spiciness complemented each other well. The curry sauce went well with the tonkatsu and cheese. If you go to Osaka, a curry restaurant that is not in Tokyo and recommended by a former colleague who used to live there, is a must-visit. Initially, I thought it was near Honmachi Station, but it turned out to have moved to a completely different location, which was quite a walk under the scorching summer sun. As I walked, feeling lost, I noticed there were already about 6 people lined up, and the way to line up was unique, so I didn't know where to go. I ended up turning back, but it turned out that the L-shape was the correct way to line up, so I quickly let a person who arrived later go ahead of me. Before I knew it, there were about 10 people right behind me. Even after the scheduled opening time, the store still hadn't opened. Finally, it opened! But I was surprised to see that there was only one staff member working. I was directed to a counter seat, and when I sat down, each person was asked about their order one by one, which made me nervous. I had already gulped down two glasses of water. The cutlet seemed heavy, so I opted for shrimp fry with cheese and spinach toppings! I hesitated about adding a raw egg but decided against it! Surprisingly, everyone else seemed to have their own preferences, so the orders were quite varied. The dishes were served clockwise, and when it was my turn, I anxiously checked if the order was correct, then felt relieved when it was placed in front of me. The taste was sweet, savory, and had depth! It was also spicy and crispy! The cheese, spinach, and fry were the right choices! The difference between the Osaka trip where I ate this curry and the one where I didn't is like night and day! When it came time to pay, I was told, "Sorry for keeping you waiting in the heat," but I wanted to express how delicious and impressive the meal was, although I couldn't find the words to do so. I went to this restaurant because it was near the hotel I stayed at. There were about 20 people waiting, but I thought the turnover would be quick since it was curry, so I decided to line up. Surprisingly, the wait was longer than expected, and it was a hot day so it was tough. The owner was doing everything alone, so even when seats were available, they couldn't be cleared right away, so the turnover of the restaurant might be slow. The curry was delicious. It was quite spicy, but when paired with the onion pickles provided on the table, it became even more delicious.

I visited on Saturday afternoon. There were about 30 people waiting in line. I waited for about 1.5 hours. It seems that on Saturdays, the part-timers are off and the owner runs the place alone. Taking orders, cooking, serving, cashiering, and cleaning up all by himself, it's no wonder there's a bit of a line. But the curry is definitely worth the wait. The first bite is sweet and mellow, but then the spiciness kicks in. The cutlet is crispy and easy to eat. Perfect curry. It was delicious.
