It's great to come to Umeda, but sometimes it's hard to decide where to eat. When you want good value and something a little different, the Osaka Dai Building is a good choice, but there are often long lines, and sometimes the options can be limited depending on your dining companion's preferences or mood. That's when I turn to Hong Kong Shoronpo for help. I've been using their services for over 10 years now. During the pandemic, the menu was reduced at times, but things are getting better now. This time, they offered about 10 dim sum items through their wagon service, including xiaolongbao, shrimp dumplings, meat buns, Chinese sticky rice, jade dumplings, peach buns, custard buns, all of which were delicious. They also had around 10 main dishes like shrimp chili, mixed vegetables, two types of yakisoba, fried chicken, fried rice, etc. Highly recommended are the steamed sake clams and the pan-fried dumplings. I didn't have high expectations for the two ramen dishes made on the spot, but the salt ramen was surprisingly light and flavorful. There were also about 5 dessert options, all of which were tasty. Before the pandemic, if you arrived at the restaurant after 12 pm, you had to wait in line, but now they open at 11 am, so you can get in without waiting for about 30 minutes after opening, which is another reason why I recommend it. The location is also convenient. The price is around 2500 yen per person, which I think is reasonable. They also offer salads, and not everything is oily, so it's a good choice for a Chinese buffet.
