I encountered a guard dog in Namba, Osaka, which was unexpected. Despite being a guard dog, it looked quite cute. Maybe a bulldog. The article with the photo and text is linked here ↓
I met up with a friend after a long time and we decided to start drinking early! We found out that there is a Sushi Ebisu affiliated store in Namba, which opens at 3 pm on weekends, so we decided to go together on a day when our schedules matched. It's called Ura Namba Sakana Ebisu, and it's close to Namba Station on the Osaka Metro. It opens at 3 pm on weekends.
Red Star for a toast. Sapporo Lager Beer (medium bottle) 599 yen. Otoshi (appetizer) 349 yen. Napa cabbage with kombu and imitation crab, yuzu pepper sauce, sesame oil. A bit addictive taste with a mix of ethnic and Japanese flavors.
Salmon and potato salad 499 yen. Canned salmon is generously included. Topped with plenty of ikura (salmon roe). The balance between the ikura topping, canned salmon inside the potato salad, and the onions inside is exquisite. The flavor is not too heavy, but has depth. Truly an adult potato salad.
When my friend ordered sashimi, a jewelry box appeared. Not a jewelry box, but more like the one from the story of Urashima Taro? No, it had a Western or Oriental vibe? Truly a jewelry box. Sashimi Ebisu Mori (5 types of sashimi) 1099 yen. This is a serving for one person. You can also order one serving even if you go with two people. It included tuna red meat, madai (snapper), kanpachi (amberjack), amaebi (sweet shrimp), and fatty salmon. The kanpachi was especially good.
Not exactly a guard dog, but a cute dog. Salmon guard dog 699 yen. It's in the shape of a bulldog. Nori is included. I heard that the eyes are balsamic vinegar. Smoked salmon and cheese mixed inside the bulldog mold to create the bulldog. Salmon sashimi is topped on it. Cream cheese and salmon, quite a generous portion. Fresh salmon sashimi is eaten together. Topped with a little wasabi. The abundant use of cream cheese complements the flavor of the salmon well. If you like cream cheese and salmon, you will surely love this.
Both my friend and I love salmon, so we ordered another salmon dish. Salmon Japanese-style noodle yukke 699 yen. A cocktail-style dish with ikura, egg, salmon, and cucumber. Mix with the egg and share. The salmon in noodle form has a light Japanese-style flavor.
I tried a beer ball for the first time this time. I chose the strong one. How is it different from other beers? It was the strongest beer, but had a strong taste. Might be to someone's liking. My friend had a fresh lemon sour 549 yen.
Extreme Yukke with ikura and uni mille-feuille 899 yen. A sushi dish with horse meat yukke, ikura, and uni mille-feuille. Nori is also included. We first savored the uni, horse meat, and ikura with the vinegared rice. Good ingredients taste even better when eaten together, doubling or tripling the flavor. Since the taste was already strong, there was no wasabi, but if requested, they will bring it. It's fun to change the taste with wasabi.
Melting eel butter sushi 299 yen per piece. A staff member brought a tube. The butter comes out fluffy. The combination of fluffy butter and eel sushi is interesting! The taste changes in a somewhat Western way, even though it's sushi. Enjoyed the flavor changes.
Assorted seared sushi 1046 yen. From left to right: Otoro (fatty tuna), seared enagawa (fluke fin), nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) marinated in kombu, seasonal white fish seared with butter soy sauce. The searing intensifies the flavor. Seared enagawa goes well with sake. Goh (Five) Yellow Junmai Namazake Shirokou 499 yen. It's 90ml, but they pour generously. A refreshing sake with the sweetness of white koji, the sweetness of rice, and a very easy-to-drink refreshing aftertaste. Goes well with fish.
Yuzu pepper tai roll 399 yen. Tai (sea bream) rolled in nori with yuzu pepper as a delightful accent.
Fried natto roll 399 yen. Natto roll with a coating and fried. Usually natto rolls are not very appealing, but the fried version was delicious.
This meal made us want to drink more.
