Located in the depths of Shin Umeda Food Street, this is a udon specialty shop known for its bukkake udon. With a counter seating for 3 and 3 small tables for 2, it's a cozy little place. Despite arriving shortly after opening, I was at the front of the line after purchasing my food ticket. By the time I entered, there was already a line of about 10 people, consisting of businessmen, tourists, office ladies, and students. I ordered the Chiku Tamaten Bukkake (regular, cold) for 830 yen. Surprisingly, my order came out quickly! The udon noodles were thick and smooth, with a satisfying chewiness. The tempura chikuwa and half-cooked egg tempura were freshly fried and delicious. I remembered the name of this shop from when I ate the same menu at their Tokyo Station branch, but the visual presentation was the same, the taste was completely different! Especially the noodles, which were much better here, reminiscent of the first time I had udon in Kagawa. If there was salt on the table for the tempura, it would have been perfect. The lone staff member was struggling to keep up with the cleanup, resulting in some waiting, but it was worth it. I was already full with a regular size. Thank you for the meal!

I recommend "Kamatake Udon" for an emergency quest! They have been awarded as one of the top 100 udon restaurants. I used to not be a fan of udon until earlier this year, but after trying out various top udon restaurants, I have become a huge fan! While there are many famous Sanuki udon restaurants around Umeda, Kamatake Udon offers a unique blend of "Osaka-style" Sanuki udon, which is soft and smooth. The combination of seasoned tempura bits, soy sauce, and broth creates a genius collaboration in your mouth. It has a different feel compared to traditional Sanuki udon, more like the satisfying feeling of eating fried rice at a Chinese chain restaurant when you're really hungry. I really love it! As someone with limited udon experience, I am eager to discover more delicious udon restaurants, so please let me know if you have any recommendations. Thank you for the meal!

On a Sunday afternoon, I decided to have a light lunch and came to this place. There was already a line of about 10 people... I thought the udon dashi would be served quickly, but it surprisingly took some time. I waited for about 30 minutes. The prices were not extremely high, so I wondered if it was okay for a place like this to have such slow turnover. There were only 10 seats available, so it makes sense it was relaxed haha. I ordered the recommended chiku-tama tempura udon. I was tired of waiting, so I ate it before taking a picture. The udon noodles had a great texture, on par with Sanuki udon. I personally like chikuwa, so I enjoyed it. The broth was light and easy to eat. Overall, it was consistently delicious and of high quality, but I wondered if there was something outstanding about it. So next time, I'll try the kama-tama udon to find out.

I visited again because they only open during the day. I had the Kama-tama udon, where they mix udon with egg, top it with tempura flakes, and pour soy sauce over it. The combination of udon and egg was exquisite, with a perfect firmness, and it was truly delicious. I want to come back again.

I stopped by this udon restaurant on my way back from a business trip in Osaka. Although there is one in Tokyo Station, I wanted to try the original store's taste. I arrived around 11:30 am and there were already more than 10 people waiting in line. It's a popular place! I was asked to buy a meal ticket first, so I chose the recommended Chiku-Tama Tempura Bukkake Udon in large size. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I was seated and served my udon almost immediately. It looked delicious! I took a bite and it was so tasty!!! Honestly, it's completely different from udon in Tokyo! The texture and chewiness of the udon are totally different. (Tokyo udon tends to have a slight sweetness due to the wheat, which I felt didn't quite match with the bukkake style. This one is more similar to the udon I had at a place in Kagawa I visited in the past.) The broth is also a rich soy sauce flavor that goes perfectly with the udon! (That's how it should be for bukkake!) The tempura chikuwa and egg were crispy and tasted great on their own or dipped in the broth! It was so delicious that I couldn't help but keep saying how tasty it was, which caught the attention of the staff (or maybe the manager?), and I ended up passionately explaining how different it was from the Tokyo store. (Sweat) It's located in Umeda, so it's easy to stop by on the way back from a business trip. I found a great restaurant and I definitely want to visit again when I come back to Osaka! Thank you for the delicious meal!!!!!!

Kama Take Udon in Shin Umeda Food Street is a must-visit udon shop. I have tried Kama Take Udon at Tokyo Station before, but this was my first time in Osaka. The udon here is the real deal. I had the Chiku Tamaten Bukkake for 880 yen. The udon noodles had a nice chewy texture and were satisfying to bite into. The Chikuwa tempura was huge and served piping hot. The Tamaten (half-cooked egg) was nice and runny. Overall, it was high-quality udon that did not disappoint.

I decided to have lunch at a udon restaurant in Umeda. I didn't go for the typical Osaka udon with fried tofu, nor did I choose a place in the 500-600 yen range. Instead, I headed to Kamitake Udon, a popular spot known for its delicious udon dishes. Located in the bustling food alley under the elevated tracks in Umeda, this small and slightly run-down restaurant had a charm of its own. When I arrived at 11:50, there was already a considerable line forming. I purchased a ticket first and then waited in line. The restaurant only had a small counter with about 3 seats visible, which made me wonder if I made the right choice. But don't worry, there were actually 4 two-seater tables in the adjacent space. The owner, who was working alone, took his time serving each customer, so the line moved slowly. I decided to try their popular dish, Chikuwa Tamaten Bukkake Udon for 880 yen. After a 20-minute wait, I finally got a seat. The Bukkake Udon was served with either hot or cold broth, and I chose the cold one since it was a hot day. It came with chikuwa and tamago tempura, topped with lemon, ginger, and green onions. The udon noodles were incredibly chewy, and it wasn't until I tasted them that I realized this place specialized in Sanuki-style udon.

In the early afternoon around 1:00, when I arrived at the restaurant, the meat udon I was looking for was already sold out. I ended up ordering the tempura udon instead. It was incredibly delicious. The noodles were like Sanuki udon with a firm texture. The tempura was also very tasty. It's not cheap, but it's a delicious restaurant.

The restaurant is so small that it is not much different from a standing udon shop. It is only open for lunch, and once they sell out, they close around 2 pm. I made a regrettable mistake by accidentally selecting "chikuchiku-ten" instead of "chiku-tama-ten" when purchasing a meal ticket at the ticket machine. Despite my mistake, I waited at the counter for my order to be ready. Even the small size portion was quite filling with firm noodles and crispy chikuwa tempura. The atmosphere is not very relaxing for enjoying a meal, so I hesitate to line up again next time.

It's been a while since I visited, and it seems that there is a bit of a wait if you don't go during off-peak hours. This time, I had the chikuwa tempura and egg on small noodles, which is known as "bukkake." The sweetness was delightful, which is typical of Kansai-style udon. The udon here is of a decent quality, but what really stands out is how well it pairs with the chikuwa tempura. The location is convenient, so I recommend going at the right time.

I visited this popular restaurant for the first time around 11:10. I waited in line for about 15 minutes. It's a small shop but the turnover is fast. I ordered the Chikudama Tempura Bukkake Udon. It was served shortly after ordering. The udon noodles were thick and chewy, and there was a generous amount. The tempura was also large. It was my first time trying udon like this, and I was completely satisfied with the delicious bowl.

▪︎Location: A few minutes' walk from JR Osaka Station Midosuji Exit. Located on the 1st floor of the Shin-Umeda Food Street. ▪︎Queue: Visited around 1 PM on a Sunday. About 10 people were waiting in line, but the turnover was quick, and we were seated in about 15 minutes. ▪︎Food: Ordered the Nikkama Tamago (regular) for ¥1,130 and the Kamatama Udon (small) for ¥760 for two people. Mix the egg until it solidifies, then add the tempura bits and raw soy sauce that are brought to you. "It's really delicious," was our impression. It's great that they are open on Sundays. Thank you for the meal!

Chiku-Tama Tempura Udon Cold (300g) ¥860. I visited the restaurant 15 minutes before opening on a weekday lunchtime. I was the first in line. There seemed to be a ticket machine, so I lined up there. Soon after, more people lined up. At 11 o'clock, the owner opened the door to the ticket machine, so I bought a ticket and entered the restaurant. I was shown to my seat. The udon arrived in about 5 minutes. The tempura was crispy and delicious! It's my number one tempura now. The tempura egg was also perfectly runny. The udon was chewy and had a good texture. I ordered the small size, but I regret not getting the regular 400g size... I should have gotten the regular next time. Thank you for the meal! Note that the ticket machine does not accept new 500 yen coins. I didn't have any 1000 yen bills, so I had to exchange 5000 yen with the owner. I felt rushed because there were people waiting behind me.

I went to "Umeda Kamatake Udon" and had the (cold) Chikudama Tempura Udon. I'm on a family trip in Osaka, so we visited this famous udon shop. There was a long line because we went for lunch. The noodles had a good texture and were delicious. The freshly fried tempura was crispy and tasty, especially the half-cooked egg tempura. Truly a delicious meal at this renowned udon shop!

Thick and chewy type of udon. Very satisfying♡♡ The grilled chikuwa on top was also delicious. I was debating whether to get a small portion because I was already full, but I decided to get a regular size since I love this type of noodles (the difference in price between small and regular was only 20 yen). I arrived at 11:00 am on a holiday and left after 30 minutes, but there were already 5 or 6 groups waiting outside. It seems like there can be quite a wait if you don't time it right, so be careful.

I ordered the regular size Bukkake Udon with meat, served cold. I added Chikuwa Tempura on top! The noodles from Sanuki were firm, with sweet meat in it. Most of all, Chikuwa Tempura goes really well with the udon. Personally, I think the Bukkake with Chikuwa Tempura is the best. Even the regular size had a good amount of volume.

I went around 11 am on a weekday and there was already a line of 12-3 people. I joined the end of the line but it didn't move much, so I decided to leave. I tried again around 2 pm and this time there was only one person in line, so I was seated within 5 minutes. I ordered the small size of chilled udon with tempura. Even the small size was quite filling. The noodles were chewy and firm. The tempura of chikuwa was more chewy than crispy, but it was satisfying. Overall, I was able to enjoy a fulfilling meal with the small size udon.

Founded in March 2003 in Namba Chuo-ku, Kama Take Udon is a popular udon restaurant with two locations in Umeda and Yaesu. I visited the Umeda location during my annual homecoming udon tour. The restaurant is well-known for its chikuwa tempura udon. I arrived on a Sunday at 1 pm and there was a short line, but the turnover was quick. The ordering process was a bit confusing as you need to buy a meal ticket before lining up. The udon noodles were thick and had a satisfying chewiness. I ordered a small size, but it was filling. The noodles had a perfect balance of firmness and fluffiness, and the sweet broth complemented them well. The chikuwa tempura was also delicious. Overall, a highly recommended spot for udon lovers in the Kansai region.

Takeuchi Ki Udon is a restaurant located in the bustling area of Namba Chuo-ku. The restaurant has a retro underground atmosphere with a small seating area and a bustling atmosphere. The cold noodles with tempura on top are a popular choice, and the thick, chewy noodles have a satisfying texture. The tempura, especially the chikuwa, is delicious and addictive. The half-cooked egg adds a creamy texture to the dish. The refreshing ponzu sauce complements the noodles well. The restaurant is popular and busy, but the young female staff members provide friendly and attentive service.

I went to this restaurant with my husband in Osaka for one night from August 5th to 6th, 2023. We decided to grab a quick bite before leaving Osaka on the morning of the 6th, so we looked up this place and decided to give it a try. We arrived at the New Umeda Food Street around 10:50, just before the 11:00 opening time. There was a line of about 10 people waiting to get in, which seemed manageable. Once the restaurant opened, we purchased our meal tickets from the ticket machine located to the right of the entrance (outside the restaurant). We chose the small size option, as the large size was 800g. We were seated at a table for two, while solo diners were seated at the counter. The table was quite small, but we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the place. Cold tea was self-service, and there were containers of sesame and shichimi (seven-spice blend) on a corner table for customers to use. They also mentioned that they would provide tenkasu (tempura batter bits) upon request. The udon noodles were thick and chewy, with a nice firm texture. I ordered the recommended dish with chikuwa tempura and tamago tempura, and the chikuwa tempura was crispy and delicious. I really loved it. This was my second time visiting the New Umeda Food Street, and I noticed a few other interesting restaurants in the area. Overall, it was a great dining experience!

I visited the restaurant around the time it opened, but had to wait in line for about 30 minutes. I thought the line would move quickly since it's an udon restaurant, but with only 13 seats, the turnover was slow and the line didn't move much. After waiting, I was seated at the counter where I could see the noodles being cooked. Each serving was boiled carefully, and the noodles were thick. It made sense that it took a bit of time. The noodles were chewy and had a slightly firm texture. I ordered the Chiku Tama Tempura Udon in regular size, and even the regular size had large tempura pieces, so it was quite filling. It was very delicious!
