I went to Tan-ya, a beef tongue specialty restaurant that opens from 7 am in the morning. It is famous for having long lines even before 7 am. One of the attractive features is that you can have unlimited refills of barley rice and coffee. I tried their morning menu, the beef tongue set meal. It costs 780 yen including tax, which is very reasonable, and I was very satisfied with the quality. The special salt blend used for grilling the beef tongue is a secret recipe of Tan-ya, enhancing the flavor of the beef tongue to the fullest. The set meal includes barley rice, beef soup, 4 pieces of grilled beef tongue, and coleslaw on the plate. They also offer sets with mentaiko or grated yam, where you can choose between egg or seasoned seaweed. Additional orders of mentaiko, egg, grated yam, and coleslaw are available. I had two servings of rice in the morning and left feeling full and satisfied. #BeefTongue #Tan-ya #GrilledSalt #HakataStation #FukuokaPrefecture #Gourmet #Breakfast #Morning #BarleyRice

I found a popular local restaurant when I returned home for the day. I ordered the beef tongue and grated yam set meal with a raw egg on the side. The beef tongue was thinly sliced and the grated yam had a hint of seasoning. I decided to add a little soy sauce to the grated yam. The meal was delicious, especially the grated yam rice. I enjoyed the beef tongue in between bites of the rice. I didn't really need the raw egg, but it could be useful for those who want to eat two bowls of rice. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

On the second night of the Fukuoka expedition, I headed to "Tanya HAKATA" near Hakata Station. It was supposed to be very close to Hakata Station, but I had a hard time finding the restaurant. It felt like being lost in a dungeon around Hakata Station. It took me a long time to finally find it. I arrived at 8:00 pm and there was a line of 5 people waiting because the restaurant was full. After a short wait, I got inside and ordered the grilled beef tongue with grated yam set meal in medium size, adding some spicy cod roe. The food was served quickly. The beef tongue was thinly sliced and delicious, the grated yam was tasty, and the spicy cod roe was also good. I finished the rice in no time, but luckily they offer free rice refills. I enjoyed the beef tongue, grated yam, and spicy cod roe with the rice. It cost me over 2000 yen, but it was delicious so it was worth it.

I was able to enter "Tan'ya HAKATA" smoothly as it was past the usual lunch hours. It was nice that rice was refillable, but the staff kept talking and didn't notice our presence. The staff at the register seemed to be dancing to a popular song. The taste was nothing special, I was disappointed. I will not go there again.

This time, I went to Tan-ya, a popular restaurant in Hakata. It's conveniently located near Hakata Station! They offer free rice refills, and I ended up having two bowls, haha. The beef tongue was delicious! However, the staff seemed a bit cold. The taste was good though! (≧▽≦)

The inside of the store is a bit warm due to poor air conditioning. Rice refills are free, but even for those like me who are satisfied with half a serving, I think it offers good value for money. #Hakata #HakataIchibangai #BeefTongue #A la carte #Large size #Coleslaw salad #Barley rice #Highball #Lunch

Visited around 8 am on a Sunday morning. Had to wait a bit before entering. Ordered the morning set with beef tongue for 780 yen. It wasn't a large portion, but it was enough for breakfast. It was delicious and really affordable. The customers on both sides were probably Korean. The menu was only in Japanese, but it would be nice if there was Korean as well. I can't come often, but I'd like to visit again at a different time.

I had a job in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City, heading towards Chihaya. I took the JR Kagoshima Main Line with Hakata Station as a transfer point. The purpose was to visit "Tanya HAKATA" located near Hakata Station, a restaurant belonging to JR Food Service and listed in the top 100 on Tabelog for set meals. I arrived at 8:50, aiming to enjoy the discounted "morning set meal" available until 10 a.m. It was a weekday and the area around Hakata 1st Street was bustling. Luckily, the group at the front of the line was quickly seated, and I was next in line. After a 3-minute wait, I was called. The seating consisted of an L-shaped counter and a few table seats. It was a bit cramped, but not stressful. I ordered the "Beef Tongue Morning Set Meal (780 yen, tax included)" which was upgraded to include grated yam for an additional 50 yen. The meal was served promptly with salad, beef tongue, rice, soup, grated yam, and seaweed on a tray. The beef tongue was sliced thinly at about 2mm, providing a good texture. The salad was pickled cabbage, carrots, and cucumbers that paired well with the beef tongue. However, the beef tongue started to become tough as it cooled down, affecting the taste. Despite the offer of free rice refills, I felt rushed to finish before the beef tongue became too tough to chew. I alternated between bites of grated yam and beef tongue, sipping the soup in between. Surprisingly, the self-serve coffee was quite delicious. The total bill was 830 yen. As I left, the line had grown longer. Among the numerous dining options in the area, I personally wouldn't wait in line to revisit, but perhaps the power of being listed as a "top 100" restaurant draws in the crowds. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the grilled beef tongue set meal and it was even more delicious than I imagined. There was a sauce on the table that allowed for different flavors. Being able to get a refill of rice was also a great point. It was so good that I would definitely go there again.

I had some time to kill at Hakata Station, so I decided to have lunch at Tan-ya HAKATA. As someone who is used to eating places like Taosuke in Sendai, I found the food a bit spicy. I think it would be better to go to a yakiniku restaurant and have some thinly sliced tongue instead. There are some delicious yakiniku restaurants in Fukuoka.

Location: Tanya HAKATA Dish: Grilled and grated yam set meal The charm of this dish lies in the exquisite combination of grated yam and grilled meat. The refreshing taste of the grated yam harmonizes perfectly with the savory flavor of the grilled meat, allowing you to enjoy a new flavor with each bite. The gentle taste of the soup also enhanced the overall meal experience.

I went for lunch. There were a few people in line, but I was able to quickly get to the counter as it was the right timing. The food was served promptly after ordering, and I met with the beef tongue~♬ It was thinly grilled unlike Sendai beef tongue! The taste goes well with rice... maybe it's seasoned with salt, pepper, and a light soy sauce? (Guessing) It was delicious~♬ The oxtail soup had perfect saltiness and flavor! The beef tongue and barley toro were also great, easy to eat even when tired, and a good meal to prevent summer fatigue. By the way, they also serve barley tea! (Everything was perfect~)

I used it when I went to Hakata Station. There are a lot of tourists and it's crowded everywhere at Hakata Station. It's tiring just to walk around haha. I ordered the seared and grilled tongue and grated yam set meal. Both the tongue and pork were quite thin haha. The prices are high so it can't be helped. The tongue and pork were thin but there was quite a bit of salt and pepper, making it too salty for me. It's a matter of preference but it was too strong for me. The grated yam was delicious. There were customers coming in one after another, but the staff were all friendly and helpful.

I didn't feel much umami from the beef tongue, and the menu options were limited. I was willing to pay more for delicious beef tongue (tears). Thank you very much.

I went to Tan-ya HAKATA in Fukuoka Hakata. It's a famous set meal restaurant, and I ordered the Beef Tongue Barley and Tororo Rice Bowl for 1690 yen. The beef tongue was thinly sliced and the tororo (grated yam) dashi was really flavorful. It also came with oxtail soup and vegetables as sides, which made it feel a bit pricey.

I used it for a business trip. It was a weekday evening, so I was able to sit down smoothly without waiting. I ordered the beef tongue curry and mentaiko (spicy cod roe) as a side dish. It was served quickly, which was great. Beef tongue curry is a bit rare in Hakata, but it was easy to eat and delicious. It's a bit spicy, so it might be more suited for adults. Thank you for the meal~

The tororo (grated yam) here is incredibly delicious. I came here for the second stop to enjoy the Hakata gourmet food, and it was really good. Recently, I haven't had many chances to eat beef tongue even in Sendai, so I was curious about Hakata. The tororo effect was amazing, and I couldn't help but have seconds of rice. The lunch at this place was the best, especially the Akahoshi (red star).

I often visit in the morning for breakfast. Thinly sliced tongue with lemon squeezed on top, cabbage on the side, and tongue tip soup make a luxurious breakfast that gives me energy for the day. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Today, I woke up early and went to "Tanya" at Hakata Station. The morning menu offers a smaller portion of beef tongue at a reasonable price. I opted for an extra plate of beef tongue. I ended up eating two bowls of rice with grated yam and raw egg in the morning, haha. It's nice that coffee is all-you-can-drink. Thank you for the meal.

Tan is famous in Hakata, so I was interested and decided to visit this restaurant located near Hakata Station for its convenience. I sat at the counter in the evening, and the menu consisted of tan (beef tongue) and toppings like Itoshima pork, barley rice, grated yam, and oxtail consomme soup. Compared to Sendai, the tan here was thin and seemed to emphasize saltiness, but it was just average. Thank you for the meal!

I found a place called "Hakata" in Hakata City at JR Hakata Station in the middle of 2023.05. It's surrounded by various restaurants, so many people are exploring what to eat for lunch. There are also many people from other countries, and among them, I was introduced to a famous place for beef tongue, Hakata Moto Gyutan. The atmosphere is cozy with a counter and tables, and the young staff members are very polite. Although it was lunchtime, I checked out the alcohol menu and ordered "Highball." During lunchtime, you can have seconds, which I did. I ordered the "Grilled and Grated Yam Beef Tongue Set Meal," which allows you to enjoy both beef tongue and Ito Island pork. The beef tongue is sliced thinly at 2mm and has a nice chewy texture with a strong salty flavor. The Ito Island pork belly is fatty and sweet, balancing well with the beef tongue. The beef tongue soup is elegant, and the diced tongue is very tender and easy to chew. Yuzu pepper is essential for a refreshing spiciness and saltiness. The pickles on the side have a perfect balance of flavors. The dipping sauce for the small dish is gentle when tasted alone but becomes more aggressive when paired with the grated yam. Overall, the meal was satisfying, although I found the ratio of barley rice to white rice a bit odd. Despite being listed as a famous restaurant, I was puzzled by how it achieved that status, but the attention to detail in their work was evident.
