The hot soup with grated kelp was soothing, and the eel was grilled to perfection. Even though the portion was small, it was delicious and I finished it quickly. I would definitely recommend trying the eel set at Nishihara if you have the chance!

After checking my wallet, I ordered the ¥1,700 "Unadon" (eel rice bowl). I was also interested in the "Umakidon," but I really wanted to eat eel, so I chose the Unadon. It took about 15 minutes for the food to be served. While waiting, I enjoyed the tea that was served. It was easy to drink and not too hot. About 15 minutes later, the food was brought to the table. The rice and eel were not too hot, just right. I had never tried Tokyo-style grilled eel before, so the difference in grilling method felt a bit strange at first, but I got used to it as I ate. The eel was tender and easy to eat, and it seemed healthy as it was not too oily. It was delicious on its own, but it was also tasty when sprinkled with sansho pepper. The soup contained kelp and noodles, and it was warmer than the tea. The seasoning was light and gentle. The pickles included pickled radish and pickled greens. I don't usually eat pickles, but I finished them all because they were delicious. The rice had a well-balanced sweet and savory flavor from the eel sauce. The portion was larger than I expected, and I ended up feeling full after finishing it (lol). It's not an amount that I couldn't finish, but it might be better to ask for a slightly smaller portion. The service was good, with the staff pouring tea and attentively observing the tables. When I asked for water to take medicine, they brought it to me right away. The interior consists of only table seats, giving off a clean and neat atmosphere. While the menu is mainly focused on eel dishes, I decided to go for a lunch set without eel today. Let's dig in! The set includes a variety of dishes, and although the portion size is not huge, the taste is great. With sashimi, chawanmushi, and more included, the satisfaction level is quite high. Overall, it's a good value for money within Hankyu Sanbangai. Plus, the location allows you to catch a train right after your meal. Bon appétit!

In the Kanto region, there are a few fluffy eel restaurants, and there are also some in Kansai. It's just a normal fluffy eel, not bad but not particularly delicious either. The restaurant had a spacious and bright interior with tables for 2 to 4 people. We settled at a 4-person table and carefully selected our menu. We decided on the recommended eel bowl for ¥3300, which was made with domestic eel. The eel dish arrived after a 10-minute wait, and it was delicious with a generous portion of eel, liver, pickles, and grated yam. The eel was tender and flavorful, and the combination of sauce and eel was delightful. I also enjoyed the added kick from the condiments. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, although I wished for a bit more volume. I topped off the meal by pouring broth over the eel bowl and savoring every bite. It was a nice and light finish to the meal. The service of okra and grated yam was a nice touch, and I enjoyed the meal at "Edogawa Hankyu Sanbangai" restaurant. Highly recommended!

Eel is something I crave every now and then. With the recent decline in eel stocks and rising prices, I hope there will be more affordable options available so I can enjoy eel more often.
