I visited Torahachi Shoten, famous for its swimming squid sashimi. The dishes I had were: appetizer, conger eel roe sazae, sashimi from Uwajima, dried young sardines tempura, charcoal-grilled sea urchin fritters, Torahachi croquette, shrimp with mayonnaise sauce, tempura with seaweed from the Shimanto River, authentic Sichuan-style stone-grilled mapo tofu, swimming squid sashimi delivered directly from Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Inca's awakening potato fries, garlic minced Kamaboko, natural beer highball. Torahachi Shoten, my stomach is satisfied!

Located just a 3-minute walk from OsakaMetro Tanamachi Line's "Higashi Umeda Station" at 2-8-5 Sonezaki, Kita-ku, Osaka, is "Torahachi Shoten Umeda Store." The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calm and suitable for various occasions. We started with Asahi Super Dry beer and appetizers of marinated tuna and bonito sashimi. The highlight was the fresh swordtip squid sashimi from Hagi, Yamaguchi, which was beautifully presented. We also enjoyed watching the demonstration of straw-grilled bonito sashimi. The menu included various dishes such as fried horse mackerel, tempura with Aosa seaweed from Shimanto, and grilled pork. We paired our meal with local sake from Kochi and Yamagata. The meal concluded with a delicious Katsuo tataki sushi roll. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with the dining experience at Torahachi Shoten Umeda Store.

Just a moment ago, I was swimming and the fresh squid was so delicious! Near Ohtenjin in Osaka, there is a store called "Tora Hachi Shoten." When you enter the store, there is a large tank in front of you with lots of squid swimming around. On this day, swordtip squid directly delivered from Yamaguchi Prefecture was available. The type of squid varies depending on the season. The "live squid sashimi" is 2200 yen for 100g and the squid served on the plate is still lively! The thinly sliced squid in "sogi-zukuri" style has a transparent appearance and a chewy texture that is irresistible. Another recommended dish is the "straw-grilled bonito Tataki" for 1980 yen. Each order is generously grilled over straw, resulting in a deliciously crispy skin. It's so delicious that it goes perfectly with drinks. Whether it's seafood dishes or anything else you eat, it's truly wonderful and satisfying. Perfect for a date, hanging out with friends, or having a party with colleagues. I was recommended a delicious seafood restaurant in Umeda. This restaurant seems to have its main branch in Kochi. I made a reservation and visited around 6:30 pm on a weekday. Almost everyone there was on a date, so it's definitely a nice atmosphere! We ordered beer, the specialty squid sashimi, bonito tataki, and one giant rock oyster. The squid is prepared right after you order it, taken out of the tank and sliced. The rock oyster was huge! It's like the equivalent of 5 regular oysters! The flavor was rich and delicious. The bonito tataki was incredibly thick, something I've never seen before. It was satisfying in taste, texture, and appearance! It goes perfectly with alcohol. When the squid was served, it was still moving! It was incredibly fresh and delicious. After finishing the sashimi, we had the squid legs deep-fried, which was also delicious! With such delicious dishes, the sake goes down smoothly. I forgot to take pictures along the way, but the prices are reasonable for the high satisfaction level of this restaurant! We ordered the course featuring swimming squid and straw-grilled bonito, both local specialties. The squid was sliced into sashimi right after being taken out of the tank, so it was still fresh and lively - the squid legs were still wriggling. I visited Toraichi recently. The main store is in Kochi, but even though I visit Kochi often, I didn't know much about it. The specialty seems to be squid, and it was indeed delicious with its freshness and sweetness. The tempura halfway through was a nice touch for changing up the flavor. The bonito salt was also top-notch. However, overall, the prices were a bit high. But considering the location, it's understandable. Thank you for the meal!

Head to Torahachi Shoten near Higashi-dori in Umeda. Here, you can enjoy very fresh squid and other seafood. The seafood is all fresh and delicious, especially the bonito seared on straw. The lively atmosphere of "THE seafood izakaya" with two floors underground. There is a fish tank at the entrance where squid swim elegantly. The open kitchen allows you to enjoy the dynamic cooking scene of straw-grilled dishes. The first floor has table and counter seats, as well as a terrace, while the basement has private rooms for a relaxed dining experience. On this day, we were seated at a table on the first floor. - Bonito straw-grilled tataki & sashimi: The aroma of the bonito tataki that arrived, with its crispy texture, is irresistible. The menu was extensive, and after much deliberation, I ordered bonito tataki, sashimi of prawns and squid, sea bream rice, and shirako. It was truly delicious, and the restaurant lived up to my expectations. Sake was available from just one cup, and the prices were wallet-friendly. I may have had a bit too much to drink, but after the first round, I wandered around Shinchi as usual, full of energy.

Tora went to Hachiten to satisfy his craving for fresh squid. There were many squid swimming in the tank, which added to the lively atmosphere. He also ordered bonito tataki, which was delicious without any fishy smell. The mackerel sushi was surprisingly thick and tasty. The squid sashimi was delicious, but the squid ear tempura at the end was disappointing as the batter was soggy, ruining the taste of the squid. Additionally, seeing the rice and miso soup being warmed up in the microwave was a bit disappointing. It would be better if these things were done out of sight. Due to these points, I have rated the restaurant accordingly.

I knew the name and location but it was my first visit that day. I came for the fresh squid, but the salt-seared bonito was so delicious. It was amazing with just salt, although it was also tasty with ponzu sauce. I had never had such a thick and chewy bonito before. I felt like I could eat and drink endlessly with this as a side dish. The squid was also fresh, transparent, chewy, and delicious. We could choose from tempura, sashimi, or salt-grilled for the legs. Without hesitation, we chose the salt-grilled. It was a seafood lover's dream restaurant.

I couldn't get in before because it was full, so I made a reservation and visited again for revenge. Dragon shabu-shabu for ¥2420. Appetizer for ¥440. Soft drink for ¥390. Swimming squid is about ¥2000 for a small 200g portion per person. I also wanted to eat bonito tataki and kamameshi, but I ate too much squid and got full, so I gave up. The dragon shabu-shabu was delicious.

I heard that the bonito at this late-night restaurant was delicious, so I ordered bonito and squid as the main dishes. The bonito straw-grilled dish was around 3000 yen, I think, and the squid sashimi was around 2000 yen. I also had a tofu salad with scallops and seaweed, as well as other dishes. Despite arriving late, I enjoyed the delicious bonito and the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. I would love to visit Kochi again sometime soon.

I came here after a long time! I love the bonito here, it's always delicious whenever I come. The other a la carte dishes are also tasty, but there are few things that match my taste, so I might not be able to finish at just one place haha. The private rooms are nice too. I really wanted to eat squid, but it wasn't available on this day.

Because Shinsaibashi was crowded, I suddenly decided to go to Umeda. The deliciousness was still top-notch, and the staff were nice, so I had a wonderful time. Today's bonito didn't have much fat, so I had it with salt ponzu and regular ponzu, and I also had swimming squid with the head deep-fried.
