I was asked to take my work colleague, who is one year younger than me, to their first drinking session together. I always take them to this place, a bubbly bar, even though I have been there almost 10 times before. Surprisingly, we sat at the counter this time, despite it being a bar-like setting with a slightly dim and stylish interior. The staff greeted us warmly and asked for our drink preferences before recommending some options. It felt more like a bar than a bar! We opted for the 30-minute all-you-can-drink option for 490 yen, and this time we went for 2 hours. The service was attentive even for the all-you-can-drink option, and the drinks were delicious, almost like those at a bar. My colleague, who loves sweet drinks, started with a Fuzzy Navel, while I, a whiskey lover, went for a Maker's Mark highball. My colleague was impressed by the cocktails, and the appetizer, which was a generous serving of beef, made us think, "Isn't this more like an izakaya?" Is this a bar or a bar? Well, for now, let's just call it an izakaya. For food, we had the following: - Prosciutto and Cheese Crackers (580 yen): A luxurious and visually appealing dish that paired well with the prosciutto and cheese. - Bar's Potato Salad with Wagyu Beef and Egg Yolk Sukiyaki Style (680 yen): A must-try dish with the richness of the egg yolk and the flavor of the Wagyu beef combined with the potato salad. It was so good that it made us want to keep drinking highballs, Ballantine, gin and tonics, and Passoa orange. Don't forget to make the most of the all-you-can-drink option! Lastly, we had Fish & Chips (880 yen) with homemade tartar sauce. The fish was plump and the batter was crispy. Each dish was irresistible! My colleague loved the place and said they would like to come back regularly. But wait, it's not over yet - we're off to the second bar. Oh, we're not worried about missing the last train! (lol)
