I went on a day when the temperature dropped a bit and I was feeling a bit uneasy in my stomach, so I wanted to eat something warm. The level 2 spicy soup was just right for me, and after eating it, my body always feels warm. The celery dumplings are a must-have. The lamb meat has an authentic flavor. I definitely want to go back again.

I suddenly felt like having some spicy hot soup, so I went to a restaurant and found my husband there. I ordered the soup with 1.5 levels of spiciness, with bok choy, wood ear mushrooms, lamb, tofu noodles, and thick glass noodles. The taste was just like I remember, rich and flavorful. I added Sichuan peppercorns and garlic halfway through, and the numbing sensation was irresistible. I topped the lamb with garlic for an extra kick. You can add more spiciness if you like. I was sweating but my body felt warm and satisfied. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Namba - Mugen Mala Tang I had a blood test re-examination and the results were not bad, so I decided to try a Jiro-style ramen. I wandered around wondering what to eat, and found Mugen Mala Tang with no line. I ordered the Mugen Mala Tang with medium spiciness, Chinese noodles, pork offal, spinach, celery, and wood ear mushrooms. The soup had a thick texture and was delicious. It was slightly cold today, but I ended up sweating a bit.

Infinite Mala Hot Pot @ Namba [Image typo in the picture, it should be Mala Hot Pot! lol] I really don't want it to become popular, but it's so delicious that I've already been back 3 or 4 times. I'll introduce you to a recommended shop! A Mala Hot Pot specialty store in Namba. You can order with your smartphone and choose your favorite ingredients to put in, it's so convenient lol. I'm not really good with spicy food, so I went for 1.5 spiciness. The soup is really amazingly delicious! This is addictive!!! It's a shocking taste ✨ I also chose ingredients like wood ear mushrooms, various mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, and quail eggs. A highly recommended item is the thick glass noodles called "Ita Harusame", which were incredibly chewy and delicious ☺️☺️ A recommended way to eat is to add a lot of garlic halfway through! It's like a chemical reaction?! The taste changes surprisingly and becomes even more flavorful. Even women should definitely try this place! In addition, Sichuan peppercorn sauce is also recommended for flavor enhancement! The refreshing aroma really enhances the taste and is delicious! When I went recently, they had a POP displaying popular ingredients, and the shop is still evolving ✨ Please try it out at least once! I visited for the first time in a long time after 12pm on a weekday and found out they had changed to ordering and payment with QR code scanning! It was so convenient not having to wait in line at the small register area. I ordered the following for a total of ¥1,010: - 2 servings of spicy soup (¥350) - 120-125g of glass noodles (¥140) - komatsuna greens (¥130) - homemade minced meat (¥130) - tofu noodles (¥130) - natto (¥130) The natto and homemade minced meat were really good! It's fun to choose different toppings every time. The level of spiciness was just right for me without adding anything. It had been a while, but it was still delicious! I will definitely visit again soon. Thank you for the meal!

When this restaurant first opened, I heard it was delicious, and ever since then, it has been my go-to place for spicy hot pot. My partner and I are hooked to the point where we go every week. The style is choosing the level of spiciness (0-3) for the medicinal soup and selecting the ingredients. Initially, we used to choose the ingredients in a basket, but after a renovation, now we order through a QR code. Every time, I go for a 1.5 spicy soup with pork, bok choy, celery, water dumplings, seaweed, tofu noodles, and thick glass noodles for 1140 yen. The medicinal soup warms my body and tastes delicious, especially with the addition of Sichuan chili sauce and grated garlic for a deeper flavor and more numbness. In Japan, where umami culture is prevalent, I didn't have many opportunities to experience the numbing flavor, but in recent years, I am delighted to see more hot pot restaurants like this one. I have also come to appreciate the deliciousness of tofu noodles and dried tofu skin. *I feel like there may be a difference in the taste of the soup depending on who makes it. When my husband makes it, the hot pot is richer and spicier. So, during those times, it might be safer to order with less spiciness. The medicinal soup really warmed me up from the core of my body. Thank you for the feast.

Nihonbashi Lunch - I finally got to try the spicy hot pot that I've been wanting to eat for a while. I was able to customize the ingredients and noodles with komatsuna, chives, dumplings, tofu, Chinese tanmen, flavored egg, and thin fried tofu. Of course, I chose the maximum level of spiciness for an extra kick. It wasn't spicy enough for me so I added more spice from the condiments on the table, including garlic. It was packed during weekday lunchtime! The food was incredibly delicious and exactly to my liking. I also enjoyed the restaurant at Parks, but I will definitely come back here again. It made me sweat a bit! I'm so satisfied with finding this great restaurant. Next time, I'll choose regular noodles.

I saw this restaurant on a TV show and decided to visit. It's a small shop but always busy with customers. You can choose the spiciness level of the medicinal hot pot soup and pick your favorite ingredients to be cooked for you. There are plenty of ingredients to choose from, including tofu noodles. I chose level 2 spiciness, but level 3 is said to be the authentic spicy level. The medicinal hot pot soup was spicy and delicious. The portion is huge so you'll definitely be full. You can adjust the taste with additional spicy sauce, garlic, or chili oil. The original spicy sauce was tasty! Definitely try adding more spicy sauce.

Visited Mugen Mala Tang in Nihonbashi for the first time. The restaurant is near my parents' house and I used to pass by it often. Upon entering, I noticed shelves filled with ingredients. I had to grab a basket to select ingredients, which were quite diverse. It was recommended to choose at least 7 types of ingredients, so I followed the suggestion. I selected Chinese noodles, mixed dumplings, hormone, shimeji mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, bok choy, and quail eggs. My companion chose glass noodles, pork, celery dumplings, spinach, cilantro, wood ear mushrooms, and wheat gluten. I opted for level 2 spiciness, while my companion chose level 1.5. The dishes were served and had a generous portion. The difference between level 1.5 and 2 spiciness was noticeable, with level 1.5 having a lingering spiciness and level 2 being more pronounced. There were condiments on the table to adjust the spiciness. The soup had a spicy kick, and my dish felt richer probably due to the hormone. The soup had a curry-like flavor for my companion. Cilantro and wood ear mushrooms were not physically present on the shelves but were included in the basket in large quantities. The variety of ingredients allowed for flavor exploration, and the soup was comforting in cold weather or when feeling unwell. However, with over 7 ingredients, the portion might be excessive. The total cost for two people was around 3000 yen, with the soup priced at 330 yen and ingredients ranging from 130 yen each. It might be better to combine fewer ingredients, like dumplings and noodles, to enjoy the meal without feeling overwhelmed. I might revisit in the colder months for another try.

I wanted to eat something spicy but I've been cutting back on carbs lately, so I searched for "mala tang"! Surprisingly, there are many stores! This time, I chose this one in Nihonbashi. Last order is at 3 p.m. so I can take my time. I arrived at 2:40 p.m. and there was only one seat available, so I got in! First, you choose the vegetables and meat you want to eat with a sieve. Then you tell them how spicy you want the soup to be. This time, I chose level 2. It arrived in about 5 minutes in a bowl. I drank the soup. It was a rich and spicy soup. Delicious! I added some Sichuan pepper oil from the table. The aroma and numbing sensation were strong. There was also a bit of garlic. Level 2 spiciness was just right for me! There was also spicy chili oil on the table that you can add. I found out that you can add more ingredients during the meal! It's nice that you can add more while monitoring your stomach. I'll be fine next time! I'll go again!

I visited around 1 pm on a Sunday. It was a hot day, and there were about 5 or 6 people waiting in line. Inside the restaurant, there were four tables for two and a counter with two seats, so the capacity was a bit small. You first choose the ingredients from the shelf, then tell them how spicy you want the soup, following the typical system of a spicy hot pot restaurant. I'm not good with spicy food, so I ordered the soup with a spice level of 1. In Tokyo, I would sometimes go to eat hot pot, but the restaurant there served a white soup base with a rich flavor, and the soup itself was delicious. It seemed like they made some adjustments for the Japanese taste. When I had hot pot in Shanghai, the soup didn't have a strong flavor on its own, more like a traditional Chinese herbal soup. The hot pot at this place was closer to what I had in Shanghai. However, it was still tasty. The variety of ingredients was quite extensive, as you can see in the photos. There were different types of tofu, but unfortunately, they didn't have deep-fried tofu, which was a bit disappointing. Instead, they offered different thicknesses of glass noodles and Chinese noodles, so you could mix and match. The medium-thick potato glass noodles had a chewy texture, similar to macaroni. The thin glass noodles were more traditional, while I didn't choose the flat glass noodles. The restaurant is a bit inconveniently located, not very close to Namba or Ebisucho, so it might be hard to go back often.

Thick flat rice noodles, pork, Chinese broccoli, five-spice dumplings, dried tofu noodles, level 2.5 spiciness. The soup is just delicious. Add a few drops of Sichuan pepper sauce, and finish with sesame oil and black vinegar for an amazing taste!! On cold days, this dish will warm you up from the inside out! Thank you for the meal!

On this day, I arrived at Mugin Mala Tang in Namba, Osaka, about 30 minutes after opening, and there were already 3 groups waiting. This restaurant allows you to choose your favorite ingredients and select the spiciness level from 6 options to create your original mala tang. This time, I chose level 4 spiciness, and it was deliciously spicy. If you are used to very spicy food, you could probably handle level 5 as well. I would like to stop by again sometime. Thank you for the meal.

They usually have a line, but luckily I was able to get in quickly. The interior of the restaurant has about three tables for two people each, and a counter facing the wall with seating for about three people. The ordering process starts with choosing the medicinal soup for ¥330, and then adding an ingredient for ¥120 each. Noodles are considered as one of the ingredients. The options for ingredients include Chinese cabbage, bok choy, meatballs, boiled egg, and thin noodles. The medicinal soup had a strong herbal aroma and was slightly spicy at level 1.5, but I could have adjusted it to level 1 and added Sichuan peppercorns from the table to taste. It would have been nice to try the soup without noodles, maybe with tofu added instead. The Sichuan peppercorns they provide are unique and definitely worth trying. I know of other restaurants that use the same peppercorns, such as Tsukemen Hajime in Chiyoda and Junjouya in Sayama. I bought some to enjoy at home with dumplings, and it was delicious. It warmed me up and made me feel healthier. There is a coin parking lot right in front of the restaurant.

A shop where you can choose various ingredients and indicate the level of spiciness to the staff when ordering. For beginners, 0-1 spiciness is recommended, gradually increasing to 1.5-2 spiciness as you get used to it. Those who can handle spicy food well may enjoy 3 or higher spiciness levels. Seasonal vegetables and limited edition soups are also available, making it enjoyable all year round.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while, so I decided to finally go in. However, I was a bit surprised by the ordering method. Inside the store, you pick your favorite ingredients in front of a refrigerated display, and then place your order at the kitchen. For example, you can order just the soup for 330 yen, or add rice for an additional 30 yen until 3:30 PM during lunch time. This time, I chose Japanese noodles, lamb, cilantro, and added a small portion of rice for 30 yen. In total, it came to 720 yen. You can also choose the spiciness level of the soup, and since it was my first visit, I went with the highest level of spiciness, level 5. The Ma La noodles that arrived looked delicious. The slightly spicy soup coated the noodles well, and the flavor of cilantro added to the enjoyment of the meal. Of course, when it comes to Sichuan cuisine, you can't go without meat, so having lamb on the menu was a big plus. I enjoyed the Asian atmosphere. The unique ordering method may be a bit confusing at first, but being able to choose the flavors and ingredients you want from scratch is an innovative system. I had a surprisingly enjoyable experience. I would like to go back and try something with a lower spiciness level next time.

I had a craving for something spicy and went for level 4 spiciness. It was just manageable but my lips were on fire (laughs). The ingredients were meatballs, coriander, Chinese cabbage, and enoki mushrooms. After finishing, I added recommended potato glass noodles. The glass noodles had just the right amount of elasticity! Next time, I'll go for level 3 spiciness! (bitter laugh)

"The taste as well as the ordering method left a lasting impression. What I tried at this restaurant today was a dish called Ma La Tang, a spicy and complex Chinese-style soup. Ma La Tang has quietly become a trend among those who love spicy food, as it is a medicinal cuisine made with a variety of spices in a chicken, pork, or beef broth. The place I visited specializes in Ma La Tang. Perhaps due to its location in Namba, there were many Chinese customers on the day of my visit. While common in China, the ordering method was new to me. Essentially, the base soup is prepared in advance by the restaurant, and customers can choose their preferred ingredients from a showcase inside the restaurant to customize their dish. As a first-time visitor, I was unsure of which ingredients to choose, so I decided to go with the recommended popular ingredients (dumplings, minced meat, leek, wood ear mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, and glass noodles) at a level 3 spiciness. After a while, the Ma La Tang was brought to my table. Upon tasting it, I found that the spiciness was slightly higher than a typical store-bought curry. However, it wasn't just about the heat; the combination of various Chinese herbs and ingredients created a unique and flavorful spicy taste. After finishing the Ma La Tang (leaving a bit of soup behind), I was served a homemade coconut sherbet to refresh my palate. Other dishes on the menu included Shanghai-style mixed noodles and Ma La Hormone. I look forward to trying my own customized Ma La Tang along with those dishes on my next visit."

I had heard about the back streets of what is known as Otaku Road, and recently I stumbled upon it. It's a Chinese-style place where you can create your own spicy ramen by choosing various ingredients from the refrigerated room. I selected sweet potato noodles, lamb meat, offal, coriander, and cabbage, all for 110 yen each. Then I added the soup for 330 yen, bringing the total to 880 yen. The soup's spiciness level can be chosen, and I went for the maximum Level 5. The soup was flavorful and very spicy, similar to CoCo Ichibanya's level 10 spiciness. The soup was not thick, more on the watery side. By adding a special Sichuan pepper sauce on the table, the dish transformed dramatically, becoming even more numbingly spicy. It was so spicy that I couldn't really tell if the dish was delicious or not, but it was definitely satisfying for those who love extreme spiciness. After the meal, the numbing effect of the Sichuan pepper sauce lingered on my tongue, giving a tingling sensation as if I had been lightly electrocuted.

I visited the restaurant because I was craving spicy food. I arrived around 12:30 and noticed that a few people were already having their meals. The interior of the restaurant had three 2-person tables and about three counter seats. Despite being one street away from Otaro Road in Nihonbashi, it seemed to get busy during lunchtime. The restaurant offers a system where you can choose from about 30 different ingredients and pick one for 100 yen each. I decided to go for the set with Pakuchi Don, where you can choose four items including noodles. I chose glass noodles, pork, bok choy, and tofu skin. You can also choose the level of spiciness, and I went for level 2 as level 3 was said to be the local spiciness. The water and towels were self-service, so I placed my order and went to get them myself. The meal was served in about 15 minutes. The broth had a good balance of spiciness and flavor, and the tofu skin absorbed the taste really well, making it delicious until the last drop. Personally, I recommend getting the set with Pakuchi Don because the special minced meat is tasty, and you can enjoy the huge amount of cilantro in the spicy soup. Perhaps it's the effect of the spices used, but I couldn't stop sweating, and I felt warm on my way back home.
