I had the special selection of 14 pieces of sushi for lunch, haha. The menu stated that sea urchin was not available today, so I asked if it wouldn't be included in the order. The waitress checked with the chef if the special selection would include sea urchin, and he said it was okay for today. Yay, lucky me, haha. So I enjoyed various types of sushi first, saving the precious sea urchin for last to savor it slowly. It was delicious, haha. Thank you for the meal, I will definitely come back.

I visited GW twice. On the second day, the market was closed, so the toppings were a bit sparse compared to the first day, which I preferred. The kinmedai (golden eye snapper) was delicious. They also had shako (mantis shrimp) in stock, which I wanted to try, but ended up choosing the reliable seafood bowl as always. I would like to visit again.

Since the day before yesterday, I've been craving seafood lunch and this morning I realized it's been a while since I had a seafood bowl. I feel like I haven't had it as much since coming back to Hokkaido compared to when I was in Kanto. I couldn't seem to find a place where I could eat a seafood bowl, but by chance, I found this restaurant. The restaurant opens at 11:30, and I arrived around 11:20. There were no other cars parked, so I might be the first customer. I could smell the faint scent of vinegar rice as I got out of the car. I decided to wait in the car for a bit since it was a bit cold. Around 11:30, I went to the entrance, and the lady who seemed to be the owner welcomed me. However, I noticed that they didn't put out the curtain. I placed an order for the chef's choice seafood bowl, which cost 1375 yen including tax. The dish was ready in about 6-7 minutes and was served to me. Although I didn't order a large portion, the variety of seafood toppings was impressive. The price of 1375 yen seemed reasonable considering the quality. The vinegar rice was just right in temperature. Surprisingly, the sweet shrimp was the highlight for me this time. It's not my favorite, but the freshness and texture were outstanding. I wished there were more than one in the bowl. The tuna was also delicious, but the sweet shrimp stood out. It felt like a taste of Hokkaido. As I continued to eat, time passed, but no other customers came in. I wondered why. It was a great find to enjoy such delicious food at a reasonable price. After finishing the bowl, I felt quite satisfied. When I went to pay, I noticed a sign saying that they were closed for lunch today. I wondered if they opened just for me since I had been waiting before they officially opened. It was a thoughtful gesture.

Seafood bowl set for lunch was around 1360 yen. I haven't been able to go for lunch often due to it being closed or full, so I was very satisfied to be able to go after a long time. The seafood bowl, which always exceeds expectations with a wide variety of seafood, along with carefully prepared side dishes and miso soup, is a set. You need a car to get there, but they also have a wide variety of side dishes and sake for dinner, so I would like to go there at night sometime. Thank you for the meal.

This is a sushi restaurant that I visit for lunch about once every two months. I always order the chef's choice chirashi sushi. It usually includes around 12 types of fresh fish neatly arranged on top of sushi rice. It comes with a side dish and miso soup for 1200 yen (excluding tax). It's a great deal and, of course, delicious.

Located in a residential area and loved by locals, this sushi restaurant offers fresh and delicious sushi. The parking lot is small, with space for only 4 cars, so it is recommended to make a reservation in advance. On the day of our visit, there were 4 of us dining in the evening, so we opted for the course menu. The meal included fresh sashimi, simmered dishes, and grilled sushi. They also have a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. For a more casual dining experience, you can try their lunch menu with delicious sushi toppings.

I revisited a restaurant that I was extremely impressed with a year and a half ago!! Last time, I had the 3500 yen course, but this time I upgraded to the 4500 yen course with a reservation in advance. First, I ordered the all-you-can-drink option. There are options for 1400 yen and 1700 yen, but the 1700 yen option is truly amazing! Not only does it include beer, but also rare shochu that usually costs around 600 yen per glass, all-you-can-drink! They even have two types of Akatombo and Akane Kirishima available. The appetizers were served first, followed by a luxurious sashimi platter. Without any delay, the Uni also made an appearance. And not just one, but two bowls! I tried to control my excitement and told the kids to "eat carefully!" while secretly wanting to have all the Uni to myself. This Uni was so delicious, creamy, and simply the best I've ever had. It was undoubtedly the best Uni I've ever tasted, with a pure and fresh taste that lacked any unpleasant flavors. Sometimes I order Uni through mail order, but this was on a whole different level! Maybe it's because it's so fresh? While I was lost in thought, they brought out the hairy crab with miso. The sweet crab paired with the rich miso was delightful. The simmered fish was tender and delicious, and when the sushi platter arrived, there was a chorus of joy from everyone. Of course, the Uni that impressed me so much also made a comeback on the sushi, and it was just as creamy as before. I couldn't help but think to myself, "I'm so glad I chose this place." The kids were also thrilled, and once again, the dishes were truly amazing! The wife and husband are really nice people. And the most touching moment was at the very end. The tamago (egg) here is incredibly delicious! It just melts in your mouth. The tamago with sushi is the only one that has ever impressed me so much. The pickled herring and the simmered fish broth were also very good, showing the owner's great sense of taste. I will definitely come back when I visit Gato Kingdom! Thank you so much for everything.

On a certain weekday, I visited a sushi restaurant for lunch that I had decided to try out after visiting a nearby Western-style restaurant last week. The parking lot seemed to have space for about 4 cars next to the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant consisted of table seating, sunken kotatsu-style seating, and a counter, with a quiet owner and fresh ingredients displayed in the showcase. The background music was from a lunchtime variety show on TV. I was originally thinking of ordering the seafood bowl, but the customer after me ordered a large seafood bowl, so I decided to splurge a bit and ordered the "Lunch Special Sushi Set (1800 yen)" which was a limited edition. As I took the first bite, the vinegared rice was of average size with a slightly less sweet and fresh vinegar flavor standing out. The toppings included thick white fish, medium fatty tuna perhaps, with a balance of sweetness from the fat and acidity from the rice. The squid was thick in these difficult times, the tamagoyaki had a soft subtle sweetness, sweet shrimp, what seemed to be isaki had a good amount of fat, the salmon had a moist and elegant taste, the horse mackerel had a good amount of fat without being overpowering, the scallop had a crunchy texture, the crab meat had a light umami flavor, the surf clam had a nice texture and sweetness, the tuna lean meat had a sourness that I like more than the fatty ones lately, the salmon roe had a moderate saltiness and freshness, and the sea urchin gunkan was delicious with no unpleasant smell. The pickled ginger was sweet and spicy, the side dish was nagaimo with umeboshi vinegar, and the soup had a good broth with daikon, green onion, carrot, and white fish. Looking at the menu on the wall, I noticed that the customizable sushi was not too expensive, and I was intrigued by the chawanmushi made with eggs from domestically-raised maple chickens. I look forward to my next visit. Thank you for the meal.

Visited on February 4, 2017 (Saturday) and ordered the "Assorted Seafood Bowl (1,200 yen)" which was packed with various toppings, including sea urchin, salmon roe, and salmon among others. The toppings were all thickly sliced and had a luxurious feel to them. You couldn't even see the rice underneath. With a total of 11 toppings, it was definitely the right choice. The portion of rice was sufficient as well, and all this for 1,200 yen was quite a deal. My wife ordered the "Sushi Lunch A 9 pieces (1,200 yen)" which also had a similar quality to the seafood bowl. The 9 pieces were just right for her, but for me, I might have found it slightly lacking. We visited at 1 pm and were seated in a raised seating area, which allowed us to relax. The chef prepared the sushi while the wife managed the floor. The food arrived in about 10 minutes after ordering. Both the sushi and seafood bowl came with pickles, a side dish, and miso soup. For 1,200 yen, the value for the seafood bowl was exceptional. We would like to come back for dinner as well, as they have a different menu and the lunch deal for the seafood bowl is definitely worth it.

First day in Sapporo... I searched and visited a restaurant near Gato Kingdom. I had pre-ordered the 3500 yen course and planned to order additional items as well. We were warmly welcomed and led to a private room with a raised seating area. The staff was very considerate and accommodating, which I truly appreciated. The 3500 yen course for two included: - Appetizers: Popping salmon roe and corn-flavored ankake chawanmushi - Sashimi platter: Beautifully colored red tuna, fatty saury, flounder, turban shell, botan shrimp, scallop, and squid. The kids were thrilled! - Other dishes: Snow crab and miso as a complimentary dish, chilled yellowtail with daikon, and grilled herring with miso. The chilled yellowtail was surprisingly fresh without any fishy smell, and the grilled herring was so delicious that we had to order extra. Unfortunately, we couldn't add any more items to our order, but we were blown away by the flavors. The sushi platter at the end included medium fatty tuna, sea urchin, turban shrimp, white fish, crab, scallop, and surf clam, with a surprise addition of creamy sea urchin. The sea urchin was a hit, even causing a competition between the kids! The sushi was top-notch and we couldn't believe it was only 3500 yen per person. We were so grateful that our eyes teared up as we enjoyed our rock sake. The staff, especially the waitress, was extremely kind and provided excellent service. We hope to sit at the counter next time, but since we'll likely be visiting with kids again, we'll make sure to reserve the private room. We will definitely visit Gato Kingdom again when we're in Sapporo. Thank you for the wonderful meal. It was truly the best sushi restaurant with a warm atmosphere.

This place used to be called Sushidokoro Tomoe Masashi, but now it's called Rakudokoro Takahashi. I skipped lunchtime, but there were 2 people at the table and 1 person at the counter, so it seems to be popular. The sushi lunch set A for 1200 yen included 9 pieces with high-quality ingredients, making it a very cost-effective choice. The rice was a bit heavy, though. The side dishes were tasty, like the chilled eggplant with miso and the salty pickled cabbage. The tuna was good, but not as good as a nearby conveyor belt sushi restaurant. The sea urchin had a nice color and freshness, but the vinegar taste was a bit overpowering. The seared sea bream was dry and lacked the expected crispiness. The locals at the counter seemed friendly, but the timing of my visit felt a bit off. Overall, the restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere with smoking allowed at the counter. There were 4 counter seats, 4-person tables, and a few tables for 4 in the raised seating area. I'll revisit to confirm my experience.

I had lunch at work today~!! I had the "Nigiri Set" from "Rakujo Takahashi" restaurant. It was a luxurious lunch today♪ The restaurant is located in a residential area in Kita-ku, and it seems to be quite famous locally... However, it may be a bit difficult to get to without a car since it's far from the JR station. The nigiri sushi pieces were large and all the ingredients were fresh, so it was very delicious◎ I heard they also offer all-you-can-drink at night, so I would like to try their dishes next time I go there♪ Haha, thank you for the meal~♫

In March 2015, "Rakusho Takahashi" is a sushi restaurant located in a suburban residential area. It is quite far from my home, so I always confirm with my usual companion before visiting. We decided to visit for the first time during a weekday lunch, as the restaurant was open. The restaurant is located in the Shinoro area of Kita-ku, Sapporo, near the Shinoro-dori street in a residential neighborhood. The exact location can be found by searching on Tabelog. We visited around 1 pm on a weekday. We parked our car in the restaurant's parking space. The restaurant doesn't have flashy signs, with a white noren that blends with the snow. It's a somewhat inconspicuous place. The interior is bright and clean, with three tables in a raised area, a four-person table, and a counter with five seats. There were no other customers at the time. We sat at a table. Lunchtime is until 2 pm. I ordered the "Sushi Lunch A" and my companion also ordered the same. After an 8-minute wait, our two "Sushi Lunch A" sets arrived. The "Sushi Lunch A" included 9 pieces of sushi: honmaguro, chu-toro, uni, gunkan ikura, gunkan kani, sayori, soy, nama-kita-yanagi, hotate, and ebi. The sushi had sharp and elegant craftsmanship, with slightly smaller shari. The vinegar in the shari was a bit strong, giving it a refreshing taste. The meal also included a small dish of snow crab roe and scrambled egg, miso soup with shimeji mushrooms, carrots, and negi, and a slightly sweet thick tamagoyaki. Pickles, cabbage, and cucumber were also served. The miso soup with seaweed was warm and flavorful. The price was 1200 yen (including 8% consumption tax). The "Sushi Lunch A" was of high quality, with sharp and refined sushi craftsmanship. The variety of toppings, including honmaguro chu-toro and uni, was impressive. The sayori was a nice touch for spring. The meal was worth more than 1800 yen in the Maruyama area. The side dishes and miso soup were also well-prepared. Despite being a lunch set, the quality and value were exceptional. The husband and wife who run the restaurant were also very pleasant. On our way out, they asked if we were the ones who called to confirm, where we came from, and thanked us for making the trip from Maruyama. We expressed our gratitude for the delicious meal and left. This is a restaurant we would definitely visit again when in the area. Next time, we look forward to sitting at the counter, chatting, and enjoying the "Sushi Lunch A" once more. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Until August 2014, photos and notes were posted. Located in a residential area in the northern part of Sapporo, the restaurant does not have "sushi" in its name, but sushi is the main menu item. I stopped by for lunch as I had some errands nearby. The restaurant is small and nicely built. It is well-maintained and gives a comfortable impression to customers. Even though it was after the peak time, customers who came by car were leaving one after another after finishing their meals. The restaurant seems to have a good reputation in the neighborhood. I ordered the "Sushi Lunch A - 9 pieces" for 1200 yen plus 2 extra pieces for 2000 yen. The sushi rice was moderately seasoned with vinegar and had a slight warmth to it, and the sushi was made in a standard manner. Even for a lunch set, the cost performance was good, and it came with a side dish of eggplant and cold grated yam soba. The white fish seemed to be sea bream. I felt that they paid attention to the quality of the ingredients, so I also ordered additional pieces of horse mackerel, whelk, and rolled sushi. The additional sushi was also well-prepared. While dinner may be the main focus, this is a good restaurant where you can be satisfied with lunch as well. Thank you for the meal. Since the restaurant is small, it may be better to make a reservation for dinner or for a large group.

(September 2011 revisit) It was my second visit in 8 months. It seems like they renovated the slightly raised area, but the deliciousness and affordability of the food, as well as the warm and homey atmosphere created by the husband and wife, are still intact. Saying "I'm back!" and revisiting this place is a must. [Today's Order] - Sushi Lunch A (9 pieces for 1,200 yen) - Chef's choice seafood bowl (1,200 yen) * Both come with side dishes, miso soup, and pickles [Recommended Dish] "Sushi Lunch A" Last time I had a rice bowl, so this time I tried the sushi. The owner, who trained at a sushi restaurant, knows his craft well. The freshness of the ingredients and the perfect balance of the sushi rice really stood out. The quality and freshness at this price point is almost unfair! You would easily pay over 1,500 yen for the same level of sushi in a seaside town like Otaru. The balance of quality and price makes this place a gem. (January 2011 revisit) This Japanese restaurant in Kitahiro, Sapporo, is run by a husband and wife team. The husband trained at a sushi restaurant and has expanded his skills beyond just sushi. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere of the place makes it feel like a local kitchen. Despite being open for only a year and a half, it has already become a neighborhood favorite. The quality of the ingredients, especially the seafood, is top-notch, and the prices are surprisingly low! The sushi set with 7 pieces is 900 yen (9 pieces for 1,200 yen), and most rice bowls are under 1,000 yen except for the conger eel bowl at 1,400 yen. The quality here is higher than conveyor belt sushi restaurants, but the prices are lower, making it a truly astounding place. [Today's Order] - Seafood bowl (900 yen) - Salmon and salmon roe parent and child bowl (800 yen) * Both come with side dishes, miso soup, and pickles [Recommended Dish] "Seafood bowl" I chose the seafood bowl for its variety, but both dishes are excellent. The unbelievably low prices are the real highlight here. For less than 1,000 yen, you get a meal that would easily cost 1,500 to 2,000 yen as a souvenir. And it comes with side dishes, miso soup, and even a tamagoyaki! The freshness of the seafood is outstanding, with a variety of fish and shellfish included. The value for money is exceptional, making it a must-visit whether you're in Shinoro or Tobetsu!

They always welcome guests with fresh ingredients for both lunch and dinner. The owner, Mr. Yoshida Shinobu, is obsessed with tuna! He is so dedicated to tuna that if there is no tuna available or it gets sold out, he will close the shop. The owner trained at a long-established sushi restaurant in Susukino before opening his own place. His work is always meticulous, and you can tell that he puts himself in the shoes of the person eating. At Rakusho Takahashi, make sure to reserve a seat at the counter and enjoy conversations with the owner while savoring the sushi he prepares. It's a favorite sushi restaurant of mine!

The owner of this place is originally from Izu but trained at the famous restaurant ×× Sushi in Susukino. He opened his own place here a few years ago and seems to be thriving with his local-focused offerings and friendly service. I didn't have a chance to visit before, but I realized that it's great to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon here enjoying some sake. The variety of sushi may be limited, but considering the prices, it's worth making the trip. Note that Sunday daytime hours have ended since October. I decided to revisit on 11/26 and arrived on a Saturday afternoon. I noticed several families visiting one after another, showing that the place is well-rooted in the community. It seems there are no troublemakers like me drinking sake in the afternoon. Despite showing up unannounced, they kindly made me soy simmered dish, for which I am truly grateful. It seems to get quite busy in the evenings, so I recommend making a reservation.
